"We don't need the beer." Ryland said, looking at us with a straight face.
All four of us stood there confused by his answer. A lot of the teens in this town would turn to people like us for things like alcohol and cigarettes, it's what got us to be invited to socials, so for them to already have beer was quite odd.
"And who exactly gave you the beer?" Kia asked sassily, squinting her eyes slightly trying to intimidate him.
Ryland just scoffed at her before mimicking her actions. "Joey's uncle."
We all looked at Joey who just shrugged in response. Well, it didn't really look like a shrug as his shoulders had been drooping from carrying the crate for too long.
"Well he told us to come here for refills!" Kia exclaimed.
"You mean those refills?" Ryland pointed behind him. We all looked to see Jason and Shawn yelling as they unpacked the beer crate.
Kia smiled at Ryland. "Will you excuse us for a moment?"
Ryland shrugged nonchalantly as Kia grabbed onto Sebastian and Joey who were beside her. Joey was just three fingers taller than Kia while Sebastian and her were a whole foot apart, so her arm were wrapped around Joey's shoulder and her other one holding was wrapped around Sebastians back. I followed them as she pulled them off the the side.
"I thought you said they wouldn't have beer." I said, dropping my bike onto the ground, no longer bothered to carry it.
"Well they wouldn't have any if Joey's uncle told us beforehand." Kia complained, glaring at Joey.
"Please don't blame all of this on my uncle." Joey begged, fiddling with the handles on the crate. "He didn't know we were gonna go."
"Did I say it was his fault? He just made us lose our ticket to getting into the bonfire."
"Who cares about the bonfire anyways? I say we go home and just chill at Joey's or something." I suggested watching Sebastian as he sighed before sitting on the damp tree stump.
"Hell no. I did not just walk an hour for us to not have fun."
"Well I'm going home." I said, picking my bike back up and sitting on it. "Coming Joey?"
Joey hesitated, looking at me and Kia, not sure if he wanted to stay or not. I'm pretty sure the music blaring from the bonfire and the sound of our classmates recklessly having fun wasn't helping his decision process either. Eventually Joey signed, placing the beer crate on the floor before hopping onto the back of my bike. Kia muttered something underneath her breath. I didn't hear it but it was probably something a smartass would say. I stuck my tongue out at her in retaliation, putting my foot on the pedal getting ready to cycle away.
"Wait!" Sebastian stood up from the tree stump. I rested my foot back onto the ground.
"No ones going anywhere." Sebastian said, lighting another cigarette before putting it in his mouth and puffing our smoke. "I've just thought of an idea."
