Chapter 4 - Time and effort

When Annatar came out of the black portal his clothes had changed. Although they were still completely white, they now had a military style. He also wore a large white coat that went down to his legs, as well as a military cap of the same color.

He had teleported to a dark room that contained only a desk and a comfortable chair. Settling into his workplace, he examined the various papers tidied up on his desk. One could also see there a map of the current Arda with various flags floating on the various countries. There were also some banners with a blazing eye scattered across several nations. It was the result of thousands of years of careful preparation.

It is interesting to note that one of the largest continents was mainly occupied by a single country, it is in this country that Sauron was at this time. The revolution spreading in this country will soon allow him to unify this continent before the start of the real war. . Soon, his work will allow him to start equipping his war machine.

The Dark Lord was not very attentive in reading the reports that had been presented to him. He couldn't help but remember the journey he had made.

At the time of his judgment, at the beginning of the Fourth Age, his former master Morgoth had tried to take possession of his existence. If he had succeeded, he could have escaped his eternal prison by possessing the body of his disciple. However, he failed for three reasons. First of all, he could only exercise a small part of his power because of his prison. Second, Sauron has one of Arda's strongest wills, it was not easy to get him to submit. Ultimately, Manwë's attack had exhausted the little power that Melkor could use.

The betrayal of his former master, had allowed Sauron to escape the Valars and to emancipate himself from Morgoth.

Unfortunately, it was not without price. It took him more than six thousand years to be able to recover enough energy to be able to return to physical form. Even until recently the physical form he adopted was unstable and only lasted for a very short time.

Normally, the destruction of the ring should have made Sauron helpless until the end of the world. However when Morgoth attempted to take possession of him, he also insert his divine source, that is, his divine power. It was essential if Melkor wanted to be reborn with all his powers.

After its failure, the residue from the divine source was no larger than a seed. During his exile, Sauron fused the power of Melkor with his soul. Although weak, the divine source allowed him to recover a little of his power, it was proof that his power could return to its strength of yesteryear.

One of the reasons why he had given the rings to the jinchurikis, is to discreetly absorb some of their power. There was the difference between him and Morgoth, where the latter used brute force, Sauron used his intelligence at all times. This is why he was able to bear the title of Dark Lord for two Ages, when his previous master had only one. Where arrogance maintained Melkor's power level, Sauron did not hesitate to use various means to increase his power.

Weakened and without support, Sauron strove to rebuild his empire. To do this, he influenced and intervened in various ways throughout history, but he never revealed himself in the eyes of the Valars.

A thousand years ago, he met an ambitious emperor who wanted his Empire to last forever. At its founding, the Empire had almost unlimited resources and some of the best minds in the world, the First Emperor having absolute authority. At some point during this period, the emperor, wishing to guarantee the sustainability of his nation, ordered the creation of powerful weapons.

Sauron introduced himself to him. He presented him with new weapons which he named Teigu. He taught blacksmiths and alchemists of the Empire how to make them. This resulted in the creation of 48 Teigus. For the master blacksmith most of them were a blatant failure. Some were powerful, but not enough for the Dark Lord.

The only one that showed great potential was Demon God Manifestation: Demon's Extract. The Demon extract was created using the vital blood of a super-class beast that lived in the northern parts of the Empire. It was isolated from all the other Teigu due to the danger it posed to its user, because all those who drank it went mad afterwards. It is an elementary type Teigu which gives its user the possibility of handling the ice.

Although powerful, Sauron was not interested in this Teigu because they were not compatible. He was a blacksmith, so his elementary link was Fire. If he used a weapon like Demon's Extract his power would not be exposed to full might.

Finally, after several experiments, he found the perfect material for his Teigu. Thanks to the resources of the Empire, he was able to find a phoenix heart. Sauron spent several weeks locked in the imperial forge. When the doors opened, the Emperor went to see the creation of his master blacksmith, but seeing no one inside, he thought he had been betrayed. He sent his best soldiers found him, with no results.

The truth was that Sauron had used much of the remaining power to create his Teigu. This had kept him from getting a physical body for 500 years.

When he recover enough energy, he continued to influence and manipulate to make events favorable to his return. Today the Empire was a country where corruption consumed the nobility like cancer. The most ironic was that Sauron had no connection with this event. Opulance and men like Prime Minister Honest were enough to degrade this nation and bring it to the brink of ruin.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Sauron regained physical form and infiltrated the imperial army. He rose in the military hierarchy thanks to numerous exploits and his Teigu. Today, he was the general of the Western Army, his mission was to protect the Western frontier of the Empire and to lead military campaigns when ordered to do so.

He is now known as Anárion (son of the sun, in Sindarin) and with the Ice queen, Esdeath, is one of the people whom the enemies of the Empire tremble in terror at the idea of facing. His enemies had nicknamed him the Ash Phoenix. The Empire was the ideal foundation to rebuild its armies and subject the Middle Earth to its hegemony.

He was close. So close to having everything he wanted. When that day arrives, even the Valars can only despair before him. Maybe he can even find she ...

Interrupting his thoughts someone knocks on the door of his office.

Sauron: Come in!

His second in command entered the room, holding a sealed letter. Her name is Saeko Busujima and is one of the most talented swordsmen in the Empire. She has long, straight and shiny purple hair with a triangular bangs in the front that barely touches the crest of her nose, and she also has to have blue eyes and a curvy figure. Sauron had full confidence in her, since she was loyal to him not to the Empire.

Saeko: My lord, we have received an order from the imperial capital.

Opening the letter she was holding a few seconds earlier, Sauron carefully read the message there. After learning of his new orders, he showed a slight smile of anticipation.

The chessboard is in place, the game was about to start.

Sauron: Saeko prepares the first and second Legion.

Saeko: Yes my lord! Where are we going?

Sauron: Where it all started. The imperial capital!

The world of men would soon burst into flames.
