Chapter 38 - Fanós and Foséxo Spells

"Since the beginner magic of Light and Dark elements that you will learn today is not dangerous, today's lesson will be done here. Selina will practice using fanós spell, while Arthur will practice using foséxo spell."

"First of all is for Selina. Fanós is a spell for creating a ball of light like a lamp. To use this spell you must imagine the light of the object that you want to emulate, the greater the light from what you imagine, the greater the light that this magic will produce. For example, if you imagine a candle's light, then what this spell will produce is also a small ball of light like candlelight too," Headmaster Robert explained.

"I understand, Headmaster Robert," Selina said, nodding her head.

"I only know the theory of Light elemental magic because I don't have an affinity with Light element. So, you also have to learn from this book to better understand it," said Headmaster Robert, who then gave a book to Selina.

Selina accepted the book given by Headmaster Robert. At the top of the cover's surface, it says 'Beginner Level of Light Elemental Magic' and 'by Alistair Ilios Watts' right below it.

"Open and read pages 3 to 5 about fanós spells," Headmaster Robert gave instruction.

Selina then opened the book and began to read it seriously.

"Now for Arthur. Foséxo is a spell of Dark element to kill the light that is the target of this spell user. An example of the use of this spell is when you target this spell towards the light of the lamp, then the light of the lamp will go out. The point is that this spell is the opposite of the spell Selina will practice," Headmaster Robert explained for Arthur.

"Foséxo," Headmaster Robert said the magic's spell, and immediately the lights that were lit in the room went out.

"For foséxo spell, you can just think about the light that is your target and say the spell."

After turning the lights back on in the room, Selina and Arthur were instructed by Headmaster Robert to begin their elemental magic training.

'What light do I want to imitate? Ah, the lamp's light is easy for the first try I guess,' thought Selina, who then imagined the light.

"Fanós," Selina said, but nothing happened.

"It's okay, Selina. For the first time it was difficult, try again, and imagine the light more clearly," Headmaster Robert tried to encourage Selina to try again.

"Fanós!" said Selina in a loud voice after imagining the light of the lamp more clearly than before.

Seeing a small ball of light like a lamp at the tip of her finger Selina was pleased.

'I did it,' she thought happily.

"Foséxo."

Not even a minute the ball of light at Selina's fingertips radiating its light, the ball of light suddenly disappeared thanks to Arthur's elemental magic.

"Hey!" shouted Selina who was angry because Arthur had made her ball of light the target of his elemental magic training.

"Headmaster Robert didn't say I can't make your ball of light as a target of my spell, right?" He asked in an annoying tone.

"...!" Selina could not say anything because that was the fact.

"Ah! Good idea. Selina will try to make a ball of light with fanós spell and Arthur will extinguish it with foséxo spell."

"Understood, Headmaster." Arthur gave his confirmation then looked at Selina smugly.

"..."

"...All right," Selina finally agreed with Headmaster Robert's idea.

During these two hours of study, Selina and Arthur's practice using the beginner elemental magic of Light and Dark elements continuously. In the first hour, they sometimes succeed and sometimes they don't. When entering the second hour, the percentage of their success increases so they can do it without any failure.

"Today's lesson ends here. Selina, you may return to your dorm, while Arthur you stay here for a while. I have something to discuss with you," Headmaster Robert concluded the lesson that day.

Selina initially felt curious about what Headmaster Robert wanted to talk to Arthur. But that curiosity immediately disappears when she feels hungry.

'Ah... Why should I think about what they are talking about? I should go back to Undine's dorm and go to the cafeteria to eat. Ciel also must have starved,' thought Selina who then came out of the Headmaster Robert's room while carrying Ciel.

After returning from the lesson with Headmaster Robert, Selina and Ciel went to Undine dorm's cafeteria to eat brunch. There they both met with Alexa, Emma, Emily, and their familiars. Selina immediately took two servings of food for herself and Ciel then sat together with her roommates.

"How was the lesson with Headmaster Robert?" Alexa asked after they had all finished eating.

"The lesson would be fun if Rosenfeld wasn't there," Selina answered with a frown.

"What happened?" Emily raised an eyebrow.

"That Rosenfeld makes a fool out of me in front of Headmaster Robert and makes my magic the target of his Dark elemental magic training."

Emma placed her cutlery on her plate and asked Selina, "Can't you two get along just once?"

"..." Selina was silent.

*Sigh*

Selina sighed then answered Emma's question, "...I tried but he always looking for trouble with me and made me upset."

"Hmm..."

"Forget about unpleasant things. What spell do you learn today, Lina?" Emily interrupted Selina and Emma's conversation.

"I learned about fanós spell."

"What kind of spell is that?" Emily tilted her head.

"This spell is to make a ball of light," answered Selina with a small smile.

"Do you want to see it? I can show it. "

"I want to!" Alexa said in fervor.

"I also want to see it!" Emily said while raising her right hand.

Emma on the other hand only nodded as a sign that she also wants to see it.

"Fanós."

A ball of light the size of a hand appeared above Selina's palm.

"Wow..."

"Wow…"

"Waah…" Alexa, Emma, and Emily exclaimed in admiration.
