Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

~~ [ Min Jae's POV ] ~~

It's been a year after that tragic accident. I know it's not my fault but ... the guilt is there. The past year was a shock for me. Its been a year and now, finally; I'm getting out the hospital. Everything was paid and I stepped out of the building. Outside, my parents were waiting for me. As I started to approach them, my mom waved her hands and it appeared that she was stopping her tears from rolling down. I hugged her the moment I was in her reach and I can feel the worriedness she felt towards me for the past year of me staying in that stuffy hospital.

"It's okay, son. We're here for you," my mom said with tears starting to roll down from her face.

Upon hearing those words, I also started tearing. My dad consoled me by patting my back and kept on repeating "It's okay, don't cry" as if it was a magic spell.

As every one of us calmed down, my dad handed me a piece of paper.

"What's this dad?" I uttered as I wipe my tears.

"It's her address, go meet her," my dad brushed a smile as he rested his arms around my mom's shoulder.

"But dad-"

"Don't worry about us son, we know that she also misses you," mom wiped her tears with a cloth napkin.

As I started taking a step, there's so many things kept on popping on my head. I looked back, and my mom was tightly hugging my dad while waving towards my direction. From that, I already knew what they're feeling. The anxiousness and worriedness was barely seen in their faces. I gently smiled at them before I continued walking away. I felt jealous at that time. So that's what true happiness felt like. A year ago, I can't feel any emotions but after meeting you, everything turned for a change. You changed me. You made me feel all of this emotions and I'm really grateful that I met you. Now, I'm going to be by your side forever.

I was sitting still at my desk just like any other normal days when a girl asked for me outside. She dragged me towards a secluded area and handed me a white envelope with a heart shape stamp as a seal. Looks like a love letter and probably a ...

"Uhmm, Senior! I like you! Ever since I saw you a year ago. Can ... I be your girlfriend?!" she raised her voice in that dead silent area. She bowed down as she handed over the envelope.

confession. I knew it ... a confession. Same pattern, same expression. Ever since I set foot in this school, I kept on getting confessions every week. As a normal guy I should feel embarassed and awkward right now but I ... really don't feel anything.

"I'm sorry but I'm not interested," I bluntly said,

As I was started to to turn around and leave, the girl grabbed my hand collar and hugged me from behind. A desperate type of girl. Pretty common.

"I know you don't like me Senior but, does your heart flutter after I did this?" I can't see her because of the position but I knew that she had this butterflies flying around with how she just said that line. A cute, annoying semi high pitch voice. I can also tell that she's having a delusion of me accepting her but ...

I grabbed her hands and removed it from me. I faced towards her direction and carefully said, "My answer is still the same. A confession from a stranger won't move my heart even if you nude yourself in front me."

She bowed her head and uttered something shocking. Even a sane person would find it really weird.

"Then ... would you like to see it?" she removed her vest uniform and started unbuttoning in a slow pace.

A desperate girl indeed. I brushed of a smirk and walked away like nothing happened.

"How can you be so heartless? You emotionless jerk!" she shouted desperately.

I momentarily stopped walking and sighed heavily before turning around.

"That's right. An emotionless jerk like me doesn't have the qualifications to love, happy?"

I know it'll be hard for them that's why I don't want them to force theirselves towards me even further. No one can change me, it's a fact. I don't want someone to bear together the curse I had with me for years. And also, I don't like having any connections with someone whom was desperate in love enough for her to strip in front of someone. As I was walking towards the hall, I saw a group of girls dragging a girl towards the gym storage hall.

"Another bullying again huh?" I silently mumbled before letting out a hopeless sigh.

I want to ignore the situation but I can't. I have a conscience just like any normal people have. I sneakily followed them and eavesdropped in their conversation. It's not that I want to eavesdrop but the situation was making me do it.

"Ya! You stupid whore!" one of the bullies shouted infuriatingly, "Do you like my boyfriend huh?"

I got curious on what's happening so I casually took a peek. The girl bullies were pushing her hardly and after a strong push, the girl's waist hit the edge of the table causing her to fall down and whimpered in pain making her unable to speak any words.

"Ya! Answer me! You bitch!"

The girl was dead silent and won't answer.

"You won't answer huh?"

The leader of the bullies slapped the girl in the face real hard and grabbed her hair forcidly. The situation was terrifying. I can't not interfere anymore. That was already enough.

"What are you doing?" I casually stepped in.

The girl bullies looked at me pretty intensely and released the girl's hair from her grabbing as they walked towards my direction.

"Tsk! Let's go girls!" she clicked her tongue.

Before the bullies go, the leader pointed and warned her, "We're not done yet, you whore! Watch your back, bitch!"

As soon as they left,

"Are you okay?"

The girl stood up like it's nothing and bowed down towards me. "Thank you for your help . . . " she said with no emotions attached. As if she's being used to it.

She walked away after that. I don't know what was happening to me but I unconsciously grabbed her hands and asked worriedly although I really didn't put any emotions on my words.

"Are you really okay?"

She replied, "Yes, I'm okay . . . Don't worry"

I released her from my grabbing and she slowly walked away. As I looked at her, I saw bruises from her arms and legs. That was not normal. She's not okay at all! Then why would she endure such thing? She's strange. I don't know what's happening to me but the urge to know more about her deepened. I just kept on following her silently. Seeing her from the back was ... How do I say this? A bit sad? But seeing her in that state, is this what being worried feels like? She went to the rooftop and stood confidently at the edge. I really don't know what's into me. I felt like if I won't do anything, something bad will happen. No! I'm sure something will happen!

"What are you doing there?" I asked nonchalantly.

She didn't replied instead she opened her arms and hugged the cold breeze. She raised her head and slowly closed her eyes as she brushed off a smile. The cold breeze made her hair dance in glee. It was beautiful.

"Do you want to die?" she asked me all of a sudden.

I was taken aback by her sudden question. It was something I didn't even expected.

"You don't have the confidence don't you?" she added.

I don't know what to answer so I just listened to what she was saying. Sometimes it is better to just listen and hear their problems. It's the least that I can do.

"In my case, I felt like everyday was a living hell, you won't understand that don't you?"

That question triggered me. As if a thorn was suddenly plucked out of my heart. It was painful to hear yet soothing.

"No, you're wrong!" I stood up besides her and also did what she was doing.

As the silence grew, "What's your name?" I bluntly asked all of a sudden.

"You don't need to know a loser like me." she yet replied instantly with a calm tone in her voice. I can't help but know more about her.

Her pain is not the same as mine but ... I'm also been in her situation.

"Why do you say so?"

She went down the edge and looked up at me. The cold wind blew and her hair began to dance one again.

"You're famous right?" she smiled sincerely. I can see it.

Amazing. Even though she got beaten up pretty badly, she still has the confidence to smile. But ... those smiles; it was sincere yet why is it so sad?

"Nope, they just want someone to pleased their desires" I unhesitantly replied. I don't even know her yet why am I being honest with her?

"Really?"

She smilied at me and extended her right hand as she introduced herself. "Song Hye Bin."

"Huh?" I was left in a confused state. It was too random and sudden.

"my name ..." she smiled with her eyes and for the first time in my whole life ... I was hit by something unfamiliar. My chest pounded loud and fast. It was weird yet intriguing. Who is this woman? Why am I like this ...

At that time I should've known. Our meeting was a miracle for me but in your case, I gave you a poison you shouldn't have. At that time, we shouldn't have met. That's my only regret.
