Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 The Kobolds' ambush

As the two kobolds close in, Lyn dashed towards them, while grabbing the other kobold in the neck using one hand.

The moment when the two kobolds rushed in with only 5 meters close to Lyn. Lyn tossed staunchly the kobold—which he was holding—them in aggressive, full force.

The two kobolds came to a sudden halt, as they stood still to catch their fellow kin.

Lyn took advantage of that moment as he quickly intercepted them. Lyn dashed to the back of the two kobolds and before the two kobolds could do anything, Lyn quickly swung and stab his common shortsword to the back of the two kobolds, followed by a series of combos; neck, kidney, and their head.

-32 x2 critical hit! -24 x2 critical hit! -96 x2 critical hit!

After that was a series of notifications of critical hits.

It only took a moment.

But that was enough time for Lyn to deal a serious blow to the kobolds.

But Lyn wasn't finished yet. Lyn stepped back and unleashed the skill he acquired in the challenge race.

Thundering Flash!

Swoosh!

Suddenly, a single sword light caused 5.2 damage, followed by another that dealt 6.76 damage, and the last one that dealt 8.8 damage.

After all three streaks of thunder hit their mark, Thundering Flash's SP increased by 1 point.

Another few slashes followed.

A series of -4.8 damage was dealt. Though each strike only had an increase of 20%, the total damage would still be great. Although the effect of Thundering Flash lasted only for fifteen seconds.

But that was enough. As Lyn finally managed to kill the 3 kobolds.

[System: Level 2 Kobold killed. Level difference of 1. EXP obtained increased by 2x. Obtained 1 EXP.]

[System: Level 2 Kobold killed. Level difference of 1. EXP obtained increased by 2x. Obtained 1 EXP.]

[System: Level 2 Kobold killed. Level difference of 1. EXP obtained increased by 2x. Obtained 1 EXP.]

Lyn's EXP bar increased by a tiny bit, like a drop in the ocean. He was now 147 EXP away from Level 2. That meant he needed to kill another 150 Kobolds to reach Level 2.

''I-Impossible! How did he manage to do it?! A level 1 player defeating a level 2 monster?! That's impossible!! Not to mention the fact that he defeated 3 kobolds alone!!!''

The other players were dumbfounded.

They simply cannot comprehend how he managed to survive and even managed to kill them. Not just one. But three!!!

pant* pant*

''That was hard. If only the bleeding attribute of my shortsword took effect, things could have been much easier. Poor me, why am I so unlucky…'' Lyn sighed.

He looked around at the other players watching him with their jaws gaping, clearly dumbfounded. He sighed again.

'Aiya, earlier the players were also acting similarly when they watched me in action. Am I actually that outstanding? If so…' Lyn smiled at the thought but he didn't show it on his face rather his expression was the opposite outside.

He shook his head and looked at the corpses of the 3 kobolds he killed and said. ''Too weak.'' The expression on his face was that of a lonely hero.

The players who heard him simply couldn't believe what he said and cleaned their ears to see if they were wrong.

But looking at Lyn made them realize they weren't wrong.

They froze for a moment.

Then they erupted.

''What do you mean weak!? You were clearly having difficulties earlier!!!''

''You bragger!!''

''...''

But they were simply too late as they realized Lyn was no longer there.

They could only sigh and shake their heads at the thought of Lyn.

But that didn't stop the rumors of Lyn defeating three kobolds in lvl.1.

Inside the Abandoned Mining Area

The main suspect, Lyn, was killing Kobolds right and left as he sped along the Abandoned area as he leveled up with every kill.

That continued for two hours.

Lyn was now level 2 with his experience bar still far but not that far from level 3.

For Lyn to be level 2 in just two hours is a feat that only leveling maniacs could be able to do.

The reason he was now level 2 was that he slaughtered all of the kobolds in the area that he saw and with the 2x multiplier effect when killing monsters that were much more of a higher level than him. He also collected all of the loot they dropped.

One particular loot he got from a kobold he killed was a particular rock.

[Sparkling Rock]

Attributes: none

Description: An unusual rock that is sparkling.

The description made Lyn dumbfounded and also interested. He didn't throw it away, rather he kept it, as he felt that he would need it later.

But it was mostly a habit he gain from playing MMORPG-based games or other games that is similar like pok*mon, R*n*sc*pe, etc.

As he was looking at the rock thinking about something.

He arrived at the mining area of the Abandoned Mining Site.

As soon as he arrived. He looked around the area to check if it was safe and threw a rock at a distance. After confirming it's safe. He grabbed his pickaxe and swung at the nearby rock.

After swinging a few times. He got a copper ore. Unfortunately, it wasn't the one he needed, but he still swung his pickaxe since copper is a valuable mineral for forging and stuff.

Ting! Ting!

[Copper Ore]

[Copper Ore]

[Copper Ore]

[Copper Ore]

[Copper Ore]

[Copper Ore]

...

He lasted there in the mining area for a long while until he was satisfied.

[Copper Ore 64x]

Description: A mineral that is needed for forging, alchemy and etc.

He got 64x copper ore from the mining area until he literally emptied it out.

His Mining Skill proficiency also leveled up.

His Mining Skill proficiency is now at level 2 and it was all thanks to Lyn swinging his pickaxe left and right until he emptied the mining area.

After he was satisfied with the amount of copper ores he had. He hurriedly left, afraid that if the ores would spawn again, he might not leave and get the urge to mine again.

So Lyn walked away and continued…

Drip.. drip...

Lyn proceeded along the way.

Lyn encountered some monsters along the way but he dealt with them easily, but as he proceeded deeper and deeper, the monsters were also getting harder to deal with.

As he was walking, a kobold ambushed him.

He stepped backward and put his guard up as he glared at the kobold.

[Kobold] (Common Monster)

Level 3

HP 480

After confirming its level. Lyn grabbed his common shortsword as he dashed with precise movements.

The kobold also rushed forward to meet Lyn's attack, but unfortunately for him. Lyn predicted it as he sidestep and activated a skill he recently got when he killed the kobolds on his way.

Backstab!

As soon as the skill was activated, Lyn's body moved on its own as it proceeded to perform the skill.

Ssk!

-32 critical hit!

The kobold got stabbed in the back. Enraged, it turned around to bite Lyn. Unfortunately, it was too slow as Lyn swung his shortsword to the neck of the kobold and stabbed its head repeatedly at the same spot.

-32 critical hit! -96 critical hit! -96 critical hit! -96 critical hit! -96 critical hit! -96 critical hit!

It was a gruesome sight.

After a short while, it died and the corpse of the kobold dropped to the ground.

As Lyn was about to search its body for loot. Lyn's face flickered as he immediately stepped backward.

The spot where Lyn was standing earlier was shot by a bunch of arrows.

Lyn sweated as he looked at the spot he occupied earlier now filled with arrows.

As he prepared to hide and flee.

A sudden growl occurred!
