Ahh so he took it did he? I am tempted to smile, thinking that this was what he came for huh? Well I guess it was no surprise. But I hid my inner thoughts and looked at Jax with a straight face and raising my eyebrow slightly.
"I didn't think he would show up today of all days. He froze everyone inside, walked in, took it and no one was able to stop him." Jack looked more upset about being overpowered by Elsin then anything else. Well I couldn't blame him, Elsin really did get on a person's nerves with that poker face of his, not reacting to a single taunt. I sigh inside. Why am I attracted to that block of wood in the first place, but let's be honest. He is a damn, handsome block of wood. So fine, I could run my fingers along him all day without getting a splinter. Ha maybe except for one..
"I see that you met him. Looking at that dumb, love struck look on your face." Jax spoke with his eyes narrowed.
Shit! I'm caught. Darn Elsin and his attractive looks. "Don't you have a Lumenia to get back? I can't imagine that the elders are too pleased with this," Saleb calmly spoke with her face kind of under control again.
"Well, I can't move without the Elders orders and I came to check if he left any traces otherwise it would be futile," Jax's lazy voice rang out while putting his hands in his pocket.
Futile it would certainly be. Elsin as one of the Magna, was a master at hiding his presence and if he was didn't want to be found, then no bloodhound, even trained by yours truly, would be able to find him. Luckily, I had a way. Not that I would tell anyone else about that. Some things are better off kept to yourself.
Jax clearly knew the low possibility of finding Elsin now, but he would have to answer to the Elders and so he pulled out a red crystal from his pocket. The crystal was his soul crystal that came into the world with the birth of the infant. It was said this soul crystal represented the experiences of the previous births. Each crystal was unique and only the owner could use it or authorize it to be used by another. Jax's crystal was in the shape of a hexagon, with gold streaks running through the red. It looked like the jagged stripes found on a tiger.
Jax concentrates, his eyes focused on his crystal and unlike most people who need to speak their command, Jax's crystal began to glow without a sound leaving Jax's lips. The glow was a red colour that showed swirls of blue. The blue indicating tracking magic. The surroundings also lit up, like millions of blue fireflies in the night. It was pretty.
The crystal throbbed twice and then it dimmed. Jax's eyes gave a knowing look at Saleb. "While I did not find a certain thief, I did find Marty's presence and your so-called fiancé's too."
Saleb gave him a blank look, looking as innocent as a chicken playing dead. "Well I know why my fiancé was here, no clue about Marty."
Yah right. Marty was at the beck and call of Saleb and would do no one else's bidding other then Saleb. Even the Elder would have a tough time getting him to move off his big a**.
Jax ignored her and concentrated again. A deeper blue shade swirled inside the red glow of the crystal this time, the surroundings tinged in that blue shade. "Your welcome." Jax said putting the crystal away in his pocket.
I wasn't going to thank him for erasing the presence of Marty. Jax looked towards the door, "you better perfect that poker face of yours some more, any mention of Elsin and your whole face starts to light up like seeing that cake you like so much."
I didn't say a word. My sassy tongue being held by the truth of those words, evidenced by my twitching lips. Don't judge me. I know it is serious that he has left for a while but I believe he had his reasons. Reasons, I am keen to find out.
The door to the venue slams open. Again. I see an old man walking quickly out, his long white beard swaying and swishing with his movements. It was kind of funny. All that was needed was a cat trying to swipe at the swinging hair.
He looked angry, not that there was a time when he didn't. He stopped when he saw the both of us and gave me a hard stare. I pull a face, communicating I didn't do anything. He looks away at Jax and questions, "where is he?" He does not sound pleased.
"There is no trace left. You know how powerful Elsin is." "Well, then from this point on, you are assigned the task to track him. I want that Lumenia back! It has been in the family for generations."
"Well, technically it was coerced and taken from the Windspeed clan," I murmur under my breath. The old man looks over sharply. "What did you say?"
"Nothing! I was saying that I would also like to volunteer for this mission." The old man, looks peaked. "You dare ask to go on this mission?! Don't think I forgot about that boyfriend of yours! You know that the alliance is already fixed with the Moon clan and yet you have the audacity to propose in front of everyone? And if that is not enough, a girl proposing to a boy, who ever heard such preposterous a thing? Is this what you have learned over the years? Your parents would be gravely disappointed."
I keep a straight face. The old fart goes and mentions my dead parents every single time he is unsatisfied. Plus, who would want to go and marry into the Moon clan that is renowned for their freaky practices, like dancing naked in the moonlight to gain powers. It worked, but, still. That is so not up my alley. Plus, my inheritance would all be given to the arranged fiancé, just what this old crony would love. Elder Din was a follower of Elder Don and both disliked me very much. But let's save that story for the next time, it is a long one.
"As you know, my tracking animals are the best in the clan. If anyone can find a trace of Elsin, then only I can, especially if the magic of the birth stone is used to remove the traces." I give the elder my serious look. Elder Din frowns and thinks for a moment.
Giving my a reprehensible look, "Do not mess this up then. Your engagement has already been broken thanks to your proposal. Jax is still in charge of the mission and you will follow all of his commands. Any disobedience will result in punishment," saying that Elder Din leaves in a huff going back into the venue.
I want to laugh. He fell for that way too easily. Jax looks at me and just shakes his head. "Come on, we need to start now. It's going to be a long night and I don't want to deal with the rest of clan," sighing, Jax starts to walk away.
I smirk. "Jax I need to go get Perry for the hunt, but he does not like being disturbed at night. So I will join you in the morning! Have fun searching," quickly saying that, before Jax has a chance to reply, I snap my fingers and am whisked away by the wind. Oh poor Jax. I hope he doesn't get too tired from the searching but I cannot tell him that Elsin gave me permission to track his crystal the moment he passed through the door earlier. I will be the first to find him tonight, and he better have some answers ready for me. I smile at the thought of seeing Elsin, and the cute chipmunk again. Huh, maybe I should take some presents for the little pet, after all a younger sister loves getting spoiled...
Making plans in my head, I hum a tune I learned when I was young, while the wind speeds me home.
