I quickly take my gaze back. Why is he starring at his cute flower like that? Doesn't he know how delicate this flower of his is?
No, I need to pacify him now. I will not cower. Besides if he really wanted to get in contact with me in these years he could have. I abruptly bring my head up and hit him with my smile.
"Hubbyyy, you know what I said about the fiancé shimancé person was a joke right? Who could ever take your place?"
I walk up to him confidently. Yes, I am powerful, and no man shall bring me down.
"Oh, so what were you saying about being thrown on the bed? What about the gir.." I quickly cover his mouth with my hand.
"Hahaha, you know me and how much I love to joke. None of that even happened. Besides, why am I the only one on the hot burner? What about that girl you came to the Clan meeting with last night? You were treating her so gently, patting her head and all." I puff out my cheeks in indignation. I will not be the only one be embarrassed today.
Elsin removes my hand from his mouth and I start to panic a little, but he doesn't let go of my hand. Phew, I knew he couldn't stay mad at me for long.
"Does patting a girl on the head equate to having a fiancé, when we have only been apart for a few years?"
"Okay, okay you win. But let me explain myself. He was just a ploy to get rid of the Clan's plans for me to get married into the Moon Clan. You know how bad the Elders in my Clan treat me. They would do anything for their own benefit and would not think twice about throwing me down a cliff if they benefitted. Plus, I did not let that man touch me! He is a piece of garbage. Would your little flower have such low standards? I belong only to Elsin. It is only this name that I shall take in this lifetime."
I blink my eyelashes at him, feigning innocence. Pretty please, can we drop this already. Aren't there more important things to do? You were feeling so touchy-feely moments ago and now you're so stern with me. I grumble internally if I speak out those thoughts Elsin is sure to punish me again. Not that I would mind, since his punishments are delightful.
Elsin looks at me blinking my eyelashes furiously and his face softens ever so slightly. "That mouth of yours is still as clever as before. What am I going to do with you?" Saying this, he kisses my forehead.
Haha! Victory is mine. I know how to persuade this cold cat. I go to hug him, but he stops me before I can get closer.
"Okay, enough. We have more serious things to deal with on hand."
I frown, my eyes glisten and I squeeze a tear from my eye.
"But Elssssiiinn. We met after two years. TWO YEARS. Please, hug me! I missed you so much, you don't know how I spent all those nights alone without you. No one was here for me. I was alone." While faking the one tear, another real one drops from my eyes.
I cringe thinking of all those nights I spent alone awake in my bed. Many times, the night would pass second by painstaking second. I lived on the edge of the clan borders and so I didn't even have any neighbours I could talk to. Not that any neighbours would, seeming as they all hated my guts. The Fiancé might as well have been passing air. I would see him every couple of weeks to maintain the pretense that we were dating. None of these people would mind if I disappeared one day.
Hearing my words, his eyes soften some more, and he envelops me in his warm hug. I take a breath and breath in his cool scent. I missed this. More than even I realized. I always knew that he would come back for me, but the waiting was slowly killing me.
Now, I have finally returned home. My shoulders relax and for some reason, I feel lighter, buoyant even. I haven't felt this energy to do something for a long time.
Elsin is dragging his hand up and down my back in a soothing gesture. I preen under his care.
"Will you only pat my head? I want a kiss!"
I can tell I'm making him exasperated, but he complies with my wishes. I close my eyes in anticipation, my lips tingling, knowingly.
He gives me a quick peck on my lips.
"Are you done with your antics? Come on, we need to get going. That friend of yours may have followed your trail knowing that it would be extremely difficult to find mine." His tone is authoritative as he slightly pushes me away and looks at my saddened face.
I feel indignant. I didn't even feel that. I got my hopes up for nothing. I should have known he would leave me high and dry.
Elsin knocks on my forehead. "Did you hear what I said?"
"Of course, I did. You said that a friend of mine is going to find you using my lead. I'll have you know, that I am a changed woman now. I have gotten a lot smarter. I used the mist stone to cover my tracks." I smirk, Elsin always thinks I am so careless.
"Uh huh, and what about your aura?"
"What about my aur.." I suddenly realize that I am an idiot. I forgot that Jack has an aura stone with him, that can replicate the aura of anyone he encounters and be able to track them using the said aura. Every person has a unique aura, like an odor a flower gives off. This aura is shaped by the characteristics of a person, and the experiences they face in life. The aura is an energy signature that each person carries with them and can be seen in the form of the colour that surrounds the person.
"I forgot," my quiet voice leaks out in a whisper as I hang my head in shame. Elsin lifts my chin with his finger and lightly presses a kiss against my lips.
"It's okay. I knew you would forget in your excitement to see me. I have already taken care of it. Now let's go before he figures out that he is following an illusion's trail. I need to go back to my clan and handover the Lumenia."
I stare at him in a daze. His kiss was so light. My heart starts to pound. My hubby is so capable, he is number one!
