Renjun sighed, standing back up.
The other two left, as he had slid down the door, breathless.
Did that really just happen?
Smiling, he looked at his bare dorm.
His smile went upside down.
It was so empty, despite having a surplus of extra rooms. He had this wing all to himself. Sighing, he thought of a plan. He was going to have Jeno, Jaemin, and their roommates move in with him, but he had to do some hacking real quick.
He was in pain, yes, but he was ecstatic at the thought of his new friends being with him.
Walking over to the hidden computer in the wall, he hit the "ON" button, watching the screen light up.
He pushed a button beside the computer, and pulled a chair for himself. The keyboard was shown in front of him as he sat. It was holographic with little sensors that were sensitive to a certain key.
Typing his password in, Renjun began typing away, hacking into the database to find where Jaemin and Jeno's dorm was. He had to build a case.
"Where, oh where," he hummed slightly under his breath, eyes scanning over the screen.
He searched through the hundreds of cameras that patrolled the city, seeing if he could catch a glimpse of the two other boys.
He switched his screen until he saw the two familiar figures, smiling in relief.
He didn't want to be a stalker, but he had to know where they were to have his plan go in action.
His smile faltered a little when he noticed they were holding hands.
Are they partners?
He was confused.
They showed him so much love and comfort, but they were together the whole time? Suddenly he felt like a third wheel.
He watched in silent sadness as the boys continued to walk, seemingly cheerful. They swung their hands as there was a bounce to their step.
They seem happy, Renjun thought.
Watching them be close, holding hands, Renjun felt something, but he wasn't quite sure what it was. So he continued to watch.
They seemed to slow down as they got closer to a smaller building, except it was all black.
Renjun frowned, but told himself to use that as a point.
He switched the camera to another one showing the front door to their dorm. They went up the front steps slowly, Jaemin's smile wide. Jeno was facing away from the camera.
Then Renjun notice Jaemin's face get a tint of pink onto it, as Jeno got closer.
Renjun's eyes widen, not sure if he still wanted to watch.
Bear through it Renjun, you're doing this for your friends. Who cares if they're partners?
So Renjun persevered. Even as the two boys on his screen got closer to one another, until finally Jaemin's eyes were closed, and their lips touched.
Renjun gasped, even though he knew it was going to happen already. It was just that Jeno had flipped Jaemin around and looked straight at the camera that caught Renjun off guard.
Accidentally hitting a key on the keyboard, the screen switched to another camera, showing a deserted street.
Breath quick from fright, Renjun pulled himself together and switched off his computer. He had seen all of the details he needed.
Turning his screen, he prepared to send a message to the Capital.
The Capital is similar to the Mayor, but they also control boarding for the students.
Capital,
I have reason to inform you today that the students in Dorm D seem to be in a perilous situation, Renjun typed.
The Dorm itself is not represented as a student lodging building but a government building. I have the concern that rebels will break in, and potentially harm the students. These are my concerns, and I would like to put the fact that I have a total of seven rooms empty in my wing, not including my own.
00-00-01.
Renjun didn't like to referring to himself as 00-00-01, but in government affairs, it was necessary.
Sighing, he hit the 'SEND' button, waiting for his response.
In a matter of about two minutes, he received a reply.
00-00-01,
Your concerns are being investigated. You will be informed of any changes.
Capital.
The answer was brief, just what Renjun expected.
Nodding to himself in acceptance, he walked across the large living room, toward his gray room. He walked down the long corridor to the last door, and went inside.
Without doing anything else, he laid down on his bed, and fell straight to sleep.
. . .
Mark was confused.
Why would he be getting a message from the Capital.
Then the door opened, revealing a smiling Jaemin and Jeno.
"Hey, guys, come see this," Mark waved his hand towards the others.
"What's up?" Jeno asked, crouching next to the older boy.
"Read this," Mark said, pointing to the old screen.
Dorm D,
We have received information that your dorm has not been updated to code. This process will take two months. We will give you two weeks to pack up, and then you will know your destination of where you are staying.
Capital.
Jeno looked at Mark.
They had been wanting this upgrade for years now, but had eventually given up on it.
Smiling Mark and Jeno high-fived.
"Where do you think we're going to stay?" Jaemin asked, his voice scaring the older boys.
"I don't know. If anything, it might be in a larger dorm that doesn't have enough people. That's what happened to Dorms R and E, but Dorms A and M were separated between Dorms U, 1, and 2," Mark answered easily.
"Hmm," Jeno was anxious, but they still had two more weeks to find out.
"So how did the M.C.M. meet go?" Mark asked the two boys.
Suddenly Jeno smiled bright and Jaemin blushed a little.
"It was great."
"He's so cute."
Jeno looked at Jaemin, wondering why the boy squealed.
"Did you just say he was cute?" Mark asked, staring at Jaemin.
"Oh my lord, the skin on that boy is ridiculous, and his eyes are so big and beautiful, and I don't know how such an angel exists, and let me just-"
Jeno cut the boy off, covering his mouth, and smiling at Mark.
"It was great," he reiterated.
Jaemin whined, pouting against Jeno's hand.
"O.K." Mark said, staring at the lovestruck boy, shutting the computer down.
"Well, get to bed guys. It's another day tomorrow, and I don't want to drag you two to school," Mark said, turning off the overhead light.
"Yes, sir!"
"Of course Mark."
Mark waved at them and bid them goodnight, letting the two walk over to the worn couch in their living room. It wasn't very big, especially for six guys, but it made do with the two for now.
"Hey, wanna talk about what happened on the porch?" Jaemin asked, cuddling into the taller boy.
"I mean, we love each other, right?" Jeno asked, combing his fingers through his best friends hair.
"Are you sure we know enough about love?" Jaemin asked.
He knew he felt something towards the older, but the other boy, he felt the same thing. He wasn't quite sure how he was supposed to feel. He didn't think there could be such thing as having two partners, let alone the rarity of having one.
There was something about the two that made his heart move.
Jeno knew how the younger was feeling, and didn't mind getting rejected. He understood. He didn't know what came after friendship, so he didn't know what to expect.
A more intense friendship?
In all of his years of encoding, he never got to the love lesson, if there was one.
He nodded his head in agreeance.
"Maybe we should learn some more," he ended, hearing the slow breaths of his best friend ring through the room.
"Some more could help," he said drowsy, before he fell asleep as well.
