After staring for a moment longer at the situation in the lobby, she swiftly walked over to the emergency box, smashing it to acquire the fire extinguisher, long hose, and axe. The sound of smashing triggered some Enraged to notice her so she quickly turned around to drag Ace back into the elevator before any of the Enraged got to them. Enraged was the name she assigned all these people who were in the hallucinatory stage of the virus.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as she intended. When she turned around, she realized Ace was no longer there. Looking around, she saw an Enraged dragging Ace by the back of his shirt. Ace was flailing around asking for help but dared not make any noise for fear of attracting more Enraged.
Aida rubbed her temples and sighed for the Nth time today, "Deadweights will be deadweights."
As she spoke, she rapidly disabled the Enraged approaching her by throwing the fire extinguisher at their knees, causing them to stumble.
Using that time, she turned on Xiao Ai's laptop and carefully placed it in a safe location. "Stay here and call out to me if you need me okay darling? I need to go and rescue that deadweight over there."
"Mm~ okay Mama~ Go rescue doggy" Seemingly accustomed to Aida's actions, Xiao Ai quickly acquiesced. She had no doubt in her mind that her Mama would succeed without injury.
Patting the screen, Aida turned around and assessed the situation. After pondering for a second, she appeared to have made some kind of decision and her eyes abruptly dulled. With these changes, all traces of her existence disappeared as well. She seemed to be in a state of nothingness. If you didn't look directly at her, you wouldn't even know she was there at all.
In this new state, she went unnoticed by all the Enraged who treated her as an inanimate object. She then walked up behind the Enraged near Ace and decisively stabbed the Enraged in the carotid with a knife that seemingly appeared from nowhere. Aida had her face turned away, so Ace didn't notice the red tint that was slowly creeping into her eyes.
Seeing this, Ace shrieked loudly like a fangirl, incurring the ire of every Enraged in the lobby. Ace covered his mouth, he got too excited seeing Aida's impressive killer visage that he even forgot where he was.
There were roughly 100 Enraged. Despite this, Aida in her nothingness state, had no change of expression and no movement. She watched impassively as all the Enraged charged at her and Ace. Ace also watched on with no fear in his eyes, not because he didn't fear the Enraged but because his excitement over Aida made him forget the Enraged even existed!
Most of the Enraged had weapons in their hands. Some were holding knives, some were holding suitcases above their head, some were holding telephone wires in preparation to strangle, some were throwing dishes like Frisbees. There was even one that was holding a banana peel, perhaps he mistakenly thought he was playing Mario Kart.
Just as the first Enraged reached them, Aida once again struck at his carotid and K.O.ed him. Making many continuous strokes, she continued to cut down each Enraged, one after another. The stream of Enraged was endless. With every cut, the red tint in her eyes grew deeper and a slight smile was beginning to form upon her lips.
Each strike was a deadly one and her arm movements seemed to reach the limit of human abilities. Within 5 minutes, there were no more Enraged to kill. She had killed over 100 Enraged in cold blood yet her expression was one of happiness and her clothes were still in pristine condition. All indications proved that the act of killing was one she was intimately familiar with.
Despite there being no more Enraged to kill, rather than stopping her movements, she began to dismember each formerly Enraged human.
It was a chilling sight. The amount of blood on the ground was growing, yet none landed on her. Her smile slowly grew wider and wider as she dismembered the limbs of each Enraged, Ace had never seen her so confident, wild and free. She looked like an angel but acted like the devil.
After watching Aida continue her dismemberment in a daze for a few minutes, Ace suddenly popped up from his spot and ran towards Aida. Somehow, Aida had subconsciously moved herself away from him as she fought the Enraged in an attempt to keep him from the danger. She was now halfway across the lobby.
As he approached her, a knife swiftly moved towards his throat. In this moment, as Ace saw the knife getting closer and closer to his neck, time seemed to slow down due to the adrenaline coursing through his veins. He was able to see the course of the knife, the red tint in her beautiful eyes, and the perfect smiling, angelic face.
He widened his eyes, responding with a slight smile on his face. He had no intention of moving away from her blade. Instead, he attempted to savor this last moment with her.
