Chapter 8 - High Stakes Tightrope Walking

Aida was focused on taking the first step and didn't notice the sharp glare filled with madness behind her at all.

She started to take small steps across the hose. While progress was slow, the steps were steady and it felt like walking on flat ground to Ace who was hugging the broom. The two counterweights on the broom were extremely helpful for her keeping balance while walking this fine line.

Aida was a quarter of the way there when she heard a noise coming from behind her. She turned her head to see an Enraged sinisterly smiling at her.

She was in a bind. Both her hands were tied up holding the broom that carried the servers and Ace, and could not afford to turn around either since they were too far from either building.

Helpless, she decided to continue moving forward. She would deal with the Enraged's actions as they came.

Walking another quarter of the way there, she turned her head around and saw that the Enraged had actually left for a moment and was now holding a pair of scissors in his hand while continuing to smile sinisterly at her. He held the scissors over the hose, demonstrating the intent to cut, but did not cut the hose.

Instead, he urged her to continue walking with a shooing motion. The enraged was toying with her!!

Suppressing her anger at the open threat, she continued to walk across the hose. As she neared the end, she knew the Enraged would likely cut the rope so began mapping out her plan as she continued to move forward.

Calculating the number of steps she had to take and the distance from the rail, she suddenly went into action. She threw the broom with Ace and the servers onto the rooftop first, lobbing them gently so her servers wouldn't break.

Then she turned around and looked at the Enraged, sticking her tongue out and making a face. After teasing the Enraged which of course further enraged him, she did something entirely unexpected...

She let herself fall off the rope! On the other side, the Enraged also began to act and unhesitatingly cut the hose and the rope fell down along with Aida.

Expecting this, Aida grabbed onto the rope and used momentum to swing towards the building like Tarzan. She firmly planted her feet against the building window and began her ascent to the rooftop.

Once she got up there, she turned around to wave happily at the Enraged who was now absolutely seething with anger. She even shouted, "Byebye Mr. Rooftop Enraged~! I hope I get to see you again so I can dismember you into pieces~ Make sure you stay alive!" She had memorized Rooftop's features - he was a man about 5 ft 9 in with dark brown hair and a unique cut on his cheek in the shape of a star.

After teasing him for a while longer, she got back to work. She knew they had to continue moving if they wanted to get to the airport before evening.

This time, she wouldn't make the same mistake. She checked the entire rooftop to ensure there was no one there and barred the rooftop entrance to disallow anyone from entering.

Seeing this, Ace who finally recovered somewhat from his dizziness and missed the entire Enraged teasing segment, commented, "What if there are people who need to run up here to escape? Won't they be in trouble?"

"Who cares," Aida responded callously as she knew kindness to others meant being mean to herself. That was a mistake she would never make again.

Pausing for a second, Ace processed her response then shrugged as well and acquiesced. Those people weren't half as valuable as his Master. Besides, Master is always right.

Thankfully Aida didn't hear what he was thinking, if she did, she would probably have smacked him again. What Master?! She would never want a deadweight like him as a servant. Perhaps it was a good thing Ace didn't voice his thoughts so Aida couldn't crush his hopes and dreams. In this way, their misunderstandings continued.

"Alright, enough chatting. It's time for us to continue moving. You know what to do."

With that, she waved and winked one more time at the Enraged staring at them before picking up the broom that Ace was now gripping tightly onto.

Amused at Ace's expression, she purposely lifted and dropped the broom with him connected to it onto the floor, giving the impression that they had fallen off the rope again.

Ace's eyes immediately flew open and he screamed "Arghhhh!!"

"Pff hahahahhahaha," Aida was clutching her stomach laughing so hard she almost fell to the floor.

Ace was intending to get mad, but the moment his eyes landed on his new Master, all thoughts of criticizing went away. Instead he was mesmerized by the sight of her laughing so freely for the first time since he met her 5 years ago.

After a long while of Aida laughing on the floor and Ace staring at her in awe, they finally managed to recollect themselves and continued their journey. For real this time.

When they finally got to the last building, Aida somehow still hadn't broken a sweat. "Hmm how should we get down there?" Aida thought out loud, "We definitely shouldn't try to take the stairs, I'm sure there are a lot of Enrageds."

Thinking a moment longer on all her options, "Ok! I know how we'll go down." She said with a glint in her eyes.

Ace watched on nervously as he knew that glint in her eye was not a good sign for him.
