"Hello Young warrior! I want to first thank you for all you did back in the mines. I'd probably be dead today if it wasn't for you."
[Miner]
"You're welcome."
[Twilight]
"I do have a favor to ask if you aren't too busy. There's a rumor going around about a cave within the Crescent Mountains. I'm not sure if you've been there."
[Miner]
"We actually have, I didn't see a cave though."
[Twilight]
"I saw a small entrance, near the lake one time when we took pictures."
[Temti]
"That's probably it. They say within there is a type of lost jewel. It's special because of the fact that it apparently boosts the wearers' life force in some way. If you could bring me back a few of them I would be more than happy to also craft you something out of it."
[Miner]
"Uh..Sure, we can help you out."
[Twilight]
After talking to the Miner a bit more, as well as getting some clarification through the pictures Temti took on the Mountains we were able to narrow down just where the cave was located. It seemed that near the seaside of the mountains, apparently there's a path near the side of Lake Adion that leads to it. The journey back to the mountains took a few days but it wasn't anything to really worry about. The monsters we encountered at this point were pretty easy to defeat or avoid since we'd been fighting them this whole time. During the climb though we ran into something I'd never seen before, other than in books. The Hewra, also known as the Sky King of Wind, was a colossal creature. One that I knew neither Temt or I were prepared to fight. Lucky for us it didn't spot us, since it was asleep, and we were able to avoid it altogether.
"We should probably try and find another way through on our way out."
[Twilight]
We encountered a few other creatures, like the Bora, which we hunted a bit for meat so we could survive. Eventually, we found the entrance to the cave near the side of Lake Adion.
"I think this is it."
[Temti]
"Yeah, are you ready, we aren't sure what kind of creatures we might encounter here."
[Twilight]
"As long as it's not the Spids then I'm fine."
[Temti]
I was surprised and could only assume Temti was too, we weren't expecting the creatures that were within the cave. More slimes, though they were nothing like the ones outside the cave. I'd never seen this type of slime in any book nor did they remind me of a king slime either. I thought it best for us to avoid them as much as possible since we had no information on them. Though the deeper we headed into the cave the more of them we encountered.
"Uhhh…I don't think we can avoid them anymore."
[Temti, pointing at the group of slime-like creatures ahead]
He was right, at this point, we were in a narrow passageway with these creatures blocking the only way out. I figured with the amount of them that were there this had to be where the jewels were hidden.
"I don't think we can turn around though. If my guess is correct the jewels we need are located somewhere past them."
[Twilight]
"Do we really have to keep going though, we've been avoiding them this whole time. Who knows how strong they might be. We could just go back and let that miner know we can't complete the request."
[Temti]
"Nah, they seem just like slimes, we're probably just worried for no reason."
[Twilight]
So we began our approach. I tried to take it easy since we'd never seen these types of creatures before. The closer I got the more I could feel this pressure. Before I knew it one of the creatures attacked. Lunging itself at both Temti and me. It definitely was unlike any slime above ground. The impact was much harder than it was squishy, it felt like a rock. Confusingly it was still able to absorb us at the same time. Once inside the slime, I began trying my best to escape the same way I usually would. Though I didn't have much luck, each swing seemed to be impacted by something. There was no burning sensation that happened either, this time it seemed more like my body was slowly getting harder. Temti, who luckily was able to avoid the attack, was now on the outside. He was doing his best as well to try and get me out, but nothing seemed to work. That was until, by accident, we both attacked a spot at the same time. It seemed to make the creature return back to a slime-like state. Though only for a little before becoming hard again. I began signaling Temti hoping he would notice it, it took a while for him to understand what I was trying to say. Eventually, he got it, and from there we were able to get me out of the slime. We couldn't be slow about it, but each group attack made it weaker, till the point I was able to get out just like any other Red or Blue Slime.
"Are you okay?"
[Temti]
"Yeah, but let's try not to do that again."
[Twilight, coughing]
Since there were still a few more of those creatures to get through we stuck to the plan we created. Attacking them in groups slowly turning them from their hard outer shell into more of the slime-like one. Once we defeated them all we could see a small entryway. A little worried we entered anyway, inside was an empty room, minus this old looking box. Once opened inside were these small jewel-like items, I guessed they must have been what we were looking for.
Now that we got what we needed we began heading out of the Cave. Since we now knew what to do we fought and made our way out safely. On the way back up the Crescent Mountains, we encountered the Hewra again. This time it was roaming about instead of just sleeping.
"Shh, we definitely can't defeat the Hewra, and with everything we just went through I don't think we can afford for it to notice us."
[Twilight]
"Okay."
[Temti]
As we made our way across we were trying to be as silent as possible but were noticed by one of the Boras nearby. Being a natural food source for the Hewra, it became alert to the sound.
"Run!"
[Twilight]
The Bora had already taken off at this point since it was startled by us. So the Hewra was only alert to us. We were running at full speed. Jumping and climbing over small rocks. Racing to make its way out of the area, the Hewra wasn't really known to leave a hunting ground once it visited. We didn't notice when but after a while it had stopped chasing us. From there we made our way back to the City and returned to the Miner.
"Oh, wow it seems like you had quite the adventure."
[Miner]
"Yeah we did. There were these weird creatures within the cave. We were chased by a Hewra as well."
[Temti]
"You know you could have warned us about the creatures in that cave."
[Twilight]
"I didn't even know you would encounter any. What were they like?"
[Miner]
"They were kind of like slimes, but they seemed to be more rock-like."
[Temti]
"Really! Then you encountered one of the rarer breeds of slime, a Selrima, the earth-based slime. It's said that they're other kinds but each only exists in certain areas."
[Miner]
"Well that's nice to know now."
[Twilight]
"Here are the jewels you asked for."
[Temti]
"Oh thank you, and as promised I'll get to work on the piece of equipment I promised you."
[Miner]
It didn't take long but the Miner crafted us both a piece of equipment. They were these helmets, he said it was something he had in the works for the old CEO of Mine City, Deago's father.
