"It looks like there's an exploration quest again."
[Temti]
"Where to?"
[Twilight]
"The Siaberion Remains...whatever that is."
[Temti, slightly confused]
"I think it's somewhere near the middle of the island. If I'm correct mom talked about it, she said it was an accent creature that existed a few centuries ago. They went extinct. Not many people know for sure but they are described like Catira, but bigger and much wilder."
[Twilight]
"Oh, so they're pretty fluffy?"
[Temti]
"No, they're dangerous, we're lucky they don't exist anymore. Anyway, let's get moving."
[Twilight]
Before we began our journey to the Siaberion Remains, I gathered information from a few locals. No one could tell me the exact location of the remains, though they all said that once we saw them we wouldn't be able to miss it. Knowing it was somewhere in the middle of the island I figured it must have been something we missed while heading to Mine City and the other island locations. Since we hadn't really gone that deep in the west side of the island other than Dagrion I figured it had to be around there. The journey didn't take long since we knew most of the shortcuts around at this point.
As we made our way further west the island's environment began to change. Much like on our way to Dagrion there was a forest but this time it was way denser. It also seemed as if there were more creatures here than the rest of the island. We ran into a few we'd already seen before like the Cilorah and Bora. Which was surprising since I thought the Bora was only found in the mountains. We even saw a few Cilorah, and we avoided them, they're an even bigger version of Chi and Cilorah, and way more hostile. Then we saw it, it was just like the villagers at Areon said, hard to miss. Even that was an understatement.
The Siaberion Remains were about as big as a house, I'd say the mayor's home. Though there wasn't much left to really say it was the full remains, the head, and a few pieces that looked like they could have been an arm or the body were still intact.
"Wooooow."
[Temti, shocked]
"Yeah, I know...."
[Twilight, nervously]
"I'm glad this isn't alive anymore."
[Temti]
"Yeah so am I honestly."
[Twilight]
"I can't imagine just how anyone survived fighting one of these."
[Twilight, thinking]
"Let's take some pictures!"
[Temti, excited]
"Yeah, sure, just let me see what that quest wanted us to do here as well."
[Twilight]
The quest didn't really have much to it, just about mapping out the location for the island. It also offered to create an item if you were able to successfully take a piece of the Siaberions Remain as well.
Temti took his pictures, we actually had a few good spots to do so. It was a great night. We did a bit of hunting and cleared ourselves an area to rest. I spent the rest of the time trying my best to break off a piece of the Siaberion. I didn't expect it to take as long as it did but eventually, it did. From there we began our journey back home. Taking the same route back, we did see more wildlife, not as much of course because of the hunting we had been doing.
"Watch out!"
[Temti, as he pushes Twilight out of the way of an incoming Cilorah]
I didn't notice it but I'm glad Temti did.
"I wonder what that was about?"
[Twilight, getting back to his feet]
"I'm not sure."
[Temti, a little confused]
[Screech]
"That doesn't sound good."
[Temti]
"It seems to be coming from the direction the Cilorah went."
[Twilight]
"Should we check it out?"
[Temti, worried]
"I think it's best we don't."
[Twilight]
[Screech, as the Cilorah, begins to reappear]
"It looks like it's coming back."
[Temti]
"Yeah, we should be able to avoid it again though."
[Twilight]
[More Screeches, as more Cilorah begin to surround the area]
"Okay, maybe we can't avoid it."
[Twilight]
"I wonder what's got them so riled up."
[Temti]
"Same."
[Twilight, thinking]
"We just passed here a little while ago and nothing seems different."
[Twilight]
I started scanning around and finally realized just what we seemed to be passing through a feeding ground. I wondered why there were so many Cilorah to begin with, as well as other wildlife. Then it dawned on me, if this was a feeding ground then that meant we've been hunting their prey. Not just that, but us being in the middle of a pack of hungry Cilorah now meant we were the prey.
Since they were still making their way towards us we knew I had a bit of time. If it was just one or maybe too we could have taken them, but this was a pack of about 10. That meant one choice really, which sucked but it was better than dying.
"Temti, any of the food we just hunted leave it."
[Twilight, warry]
"What do you mean leave it? What about all the hard work we did, hunting, we even got some really juicy pieces."
[Temti, confused]
"I know but trust me, just drop it and walk away slowly."
[Twilight, grabbing his meat out of his pack]
[The Cilorah continue their approach]
"Ugh if you say so."
[Temti, disappointed]
We both placed the meat we had just hunted out in front of us and began to back away slowly. At first I thought we were going to make it out without any trouble. The Cilorah seemed so hungry they were mostly focusing on the meat we left. We were almost to the forest edge again, when one of the Cilorah began searching around. It then noticed us.
"Haha, it looks like they're still hungry."
[Twilight as the Cilorah begins its approach and the other begin to search]
"When I tell you to, run."
[Twilight to Temti]
"...O..Okay"
[Temti]
[Screech]
"Run!"
[Twilight]
We began running, not really looking back. I was pretty sure at some point the Cilorah stopped chasing us but I never looked back to check. When we made it out of the forest I knew we were in the clear. From there we headed back to the Village to turn in the quest. We were awarded a few things, and the Village crafter awarded us for the remains just like they said they would.
