"Hmmm, it looks like there's a quest to explore that old tree near the middle of the island. I think it was called the Tree of Understanding."
[Twilight]
"The one we saw on the way to Mine City?"
[Temti]
"Yeah that one, I think it should be fun, more sightseeing before we leave."
[Twilight]
So we headed out, the journey didn't take too long. The tree was much larger than we thought, but it wasn't really surprising since it could be seen from just about every corner of the island. We entered from the base of the island, it was like a maze on the inside. I wasn't sure if it was man-made or that was just how it looked on the inside. The walls were made out of bark and vines. You could see small carvings and stone tablets. Some with pictures, others with information, neither Temti or I could understand them. We wandered around the entrance area for a while, it wasn't that surprising but we did run into a few monsters.
"Hey, what's that over there?"
[Temti, pointing towards a light source]
"I'm not sure, we can check it out, but be alert just in case."
[Twilight]
As we approached the light source, I could tell it wasn't from inside. It was definitely an entrance to someplace. We entered and it was like we're in a whole other place. It was a little dark, but you could see this light on the other end. It was enough to show a bit of the area around us. This time the walls were much thicker, they had mold on them, the floors were tiled. It definitely was more man-made than the previous area.
[Sound of crawling on the walls]
"What was that?"
[Temti, a little startled]
"Uhmmm...I'm not sure...let's keep going."
[Twilight]
[Sound of crawling on the walls continues]
"Okay, I'm not sure if we should continue."
[Twilight, now a bit worried]
[Sound of crawling intensifying]
"I..I agree."
[Temti, as the both turn back]
Suddenly as we made our way back to the entrance, a group of Spids landed in front of us. Spids are these almost 4ft to 6ft large creatures, with eight legs, and multiple beady eyes. I hate running into them, not just for the fact that they usually hunt in groups of at least 3. Which made us pretty unlucky because we were facing a group of 6 of them. Handling a group of 3 on your own is already hard enough because they produce this thread that was made out of Blood. It is said to be as strong as Bronze Mineral extract.
Since we were surrounded, and the entrance being cut off we realized we had no choice but to fight. The Spids began their approach, it was dark so I was being extra cautious. One finally decided to attack, I drew my dagger, it was trying to sink its teeth into me. It's fangs clamping down on the dagger, it's grip was harder than I thought. The others began to approach, worried about Temti I decided to use the Spid to my advantage. Rushing myself into the pack with it I was able to cut off two more. It's grip on my dagger loosened and I was able to drag it out. Slicing its mouth open, after which, full force I lunged my dagger into its skull. At the same time, the other two Spids ascended back into the darkness.
"Are you okay?"
[Twilight turning back to check on Temti]
[Silence]
"Temti?!"
[Twilight, beginning to worry]
"It's dark so hopefully he just ran off, but he'd be dealing with the other three on his own. I need to find him soon before he gets hurt."
[Twilight, thinking as he begins to frantically search]
[Rustling from above]
"What was that?"
[Twilight, thinking]
[Rustling continues]
[Twilight slow looking up]
"Mhmhmm."
[Temti, wrapped in Spids thread]
Surprisingly Temti was glued to the ceiling of the room we were in. I had heard that Spids wrap their prey up within their thread but I never knew it stuck to things. How was I supposed to get him down, where did the other Spids go as well? I began searching for a way to reach him, I knew I couldn't just throw my dagger and hope for the best. Finally, I saw a vine that seemed to reach him so I began my climb.
"Mhmhmm."
[Temti, frantically]
"Don't worry I'm on my way!"
[Twilight, screaming]
"Mhmhmm."
[Temti, frantically]
[Crawling from all around]
Recognizing the sounds, I knew I didn't have much time. I seemed to be close enough so I leaped to where Temti was stuck, I began to see through the thread.
[Crawling approaching]
At the moment I sliced through the last piece of thread my eyes met the eyes of a Spid. As we fell it began to descend with us, I threw my dagger with full force. It didn't hit its mark but it did hit the body of it.
[Thud. The Spid hit the ground]
As we hit the ground I could see it was still alive, I jabbed my dagger further into it. Forcing it to let out a screech. Looking up, all I saw were the eyes of the remaining Spids retreating. Removing my dagger from the Spid, bloodied I wiped it off and went to check on Temti.
"Are you hurt?"
[Twilight, looking over Temti]
"No, but I never want to do anything like this again."
[Temti, wiping the last few threads]

We proceeded until we saw something shimmer against this new last source. Temti rushed to the source, informing me that it was an exit. As I went to the shimmer. It turned out to be a treasure box, opening and hoping what we had just gone through would be worth it. I came out to find myself disappointed since all that was left inside was a piece of paper with a few symbols I didn't understand. Still, I wrapped it up and put it away.
When we exited we were still within the tree. The area we were in now had less creatures to worry about. It was brighter up here and there was this cool breeze. As we explored I saw a few bird-like creatures I hadn't seen before, Temti took quite a few pictures of not just them but of the view as well. By the time we made it further up we began to see a path outside. Making our way out, the view was amazing. We made it out just in time to see the sunrises.

"Look at this one?"
[Temti]
"Hmm, The Ruins of Dagrion...."
[Twilight]
"Why does that sound so familiar?"
[Twilight, thinking]
"We should try it."
[Temti]
"Yeah why not...hopefully it won't be like the last one though."
[Twilight]
We headed off, we weren't sure where these ruins really were. Some of the villagers told us it was near the mountains, some said it was deep in the forest, we didn't get an exact location. We were told it used to be the third small village on the island. It sounded familiar and I wondered if it could have been the one I grew up in. It would make sense, since I was never able to find that village again. We began exploring, it took us a while to find anything resembling a village. As we went deeper in the forest we ran into a few Wuves. Luckily they weren't traveling in huge packs so Temti and I were able to handle them. Eventually we came to a clearing it seemed we had finally made it to the end of the forest. It was quiet so I didn't think much of it, we began to proceed through.
