Emily Chloros' POV
I was getting out of the bed as the morning has come and my clock has been blaring the whole morning. It was 6 AM and I have to be at the daycare at 8 AM. I sighed before I went to take a shower and I hope to see the children sooner than later.
It helped calm me down emotionally.
I hopped into the shower and I was cleaning my body. Once done, I was dressing in jeans and a blouse. That would be my go-to outfit. It was nice and all and I hope that I will be doing so much work, later on, to forget about the dream.
Don't think about it, Em. Just forget. Yeah, you will have to forget about it, I thought to myself as I was sipping on the coffee before I was putting the mug in the sink and washed it. I went to get my handbag and I was out of the apartment where Jonathan has been waiting for me. He smiled.
"Have you been here long?" I asked as we were in our steps to the near cafe that was located on the way to the daycare. He smiled and I saw the dimples on his cheeks.
So handsome.
"Well, if I was, I don't want to tell you anyway. You will feel guilty about it and apologize to me," Jonathan said as I laughed before I smacked his arm playfully. He smiled charmingly at me. My heart skipped a beat.
Hmm, weird.
"I hope I was not too late since the croissant here was to die for," I said as Jonathan was opening the door and we were inside the cafe. I was ordering my go-to coffee, caramel macchiato with a dash of peppermint and cinnamon, and Jonathan would take his coffee all black. Then I ordered 4 chocolate croissants and we're good to go.
"You know, I don't know why their croissants were good. I think I might have to steal their recipe," I said as I was eating the croissants on the way to the daycare. Jonathan laughed and I smiled at him. He sipped on his coffee before he was taking a bite of his croissant as well.
"Hmm, I don't know but I think you're right. We may need to steal their recipe so that our money can be safe from spending too much on these babies,'' Jonathan said as my heart was beating with the word 'babies'.
I just imagined that I will be holding a baby that has the same bright copper hair as his father and his eyes were like mine. I gulped before Jonathan was turning to look at me. I flushed before I was sipping on my coffee and choked in it. I coughed.
I have never been clumsy with Jonathan before!
"Hey, are you okay? You're looking a little pale," Jonathan said as he was steadying me up. I felt his touch and it burned me. What the hell was going on here?! I moved out of his touch as I was smiling sheepishly at him. I never did this before.
"Yeah, I'm good. Just something caught in my throat," I said as I was dusting the macchiato off my blouse. It has a spot now and I was thankful that I wore a black blouse today.
"Are you sure?" Jonathan asked as he was looking at me. His brown eyes were looking at me before he was releasing me. I nodded at him.
"Yes, I'm pretty sure. I will be okay. Just being clumsy old me," I said as I was walking with him again. Jonathan was still a concern but I will not be displaying the weaker side now. I will never do that ever again.
Not when I know that predator was coming after me. I sighed as I was eating my croissant again. Jonathan chuckled.
"I swear you will never let food go to waste," he mumbled before I was glaring at him and I was smacking his arm.
"Ow! What was that for?" He asked as I was smirking at him.
"That's for being so judgemental with my ability to eat in any situation," I said before we were at the daycare and we were getting ready to take the children in. Jonathan chuckled before we went into our routine until the day was ending and we go out for dinner later.
Now, at 6 PM, we were out in the city as Jonathan was walking with his hands in his pocket. I never really take notes of his style before but today, he was being very dashing right now. I gulped.
Damn it, hormones! Keep it together.
"So, what do you want to eat tonight?" Jonathan asked me before I was looking at him. He was smiling at me with his charming smile and I was blushing but thanks to the windy breeze, I might have said that it was too cold for my face.
Then he offered his scarf. What the hell!
"So, about that dinner?" He asked me when I cannot think at all. Then I just slurred the most expensive restaurant that I wanted to go to.
"How about that fine dining? Riganato, I think, was the place. How about that one?" I said as I was hugging the scarf that Jonathan just offered to me. He smiled as he was putting his hand on my lower back. I stiffed because he never did this before.
"Exactly my thought because I have something to tell you tonight," he said as we were walking to the restaurant that was not too far from the daycare.
We were walking under the post lamps that were shining the sidewalk as Jonathan was securing his hold on my waist. I was gulping and nervous as my heart was beating fast. But of course, I have to calm down and I will not show any emotion to Jonathan.
He pulled the door for me as we got inside. Riganato was fancy but not many people can afford it. So, why did Jonathan brought me here if he was having the same minimum wage as me that I know it will not last for a month?
Even the drink cost my entire rent!
"Table for two please," Jonathan said before the hostess was sending us to our table. We were seated as Jonathan was pulling out the chair for me and I was thanking him. The hostess was checking him out as the monster inside me was swirling with fury.
Wait, what?
Jonathan took his seat as we were looking at the menu and I was looking at the price. Zeus! It was too much and I don't think I wanted to burden us with this. I closed the menu as I turned to look at Jonathan.
"Um, I don't think this restaurant holds me fancy. I think we should go now," I said before Jonathan closed his menu and held my hand. I stopped in my track. He smiled at me before he was squeezing my hand.
"Relax, tonight is all about pampering you and I will treat you. So order anything that you want and I will pay for it," he said reassuring me that he will take care of the bill. As if I will let him pay!
"But—"
"Look, Emily. I know this may seem a bit awkward for you but I just wanted to treat you. Was that hard to ask?"
"Yes! I cannot let you pay for this meal let alone take care of me tonight. We can go to that burger joint that we liked—"
"Marry me," Jonathan said as I was blabbering then I stopped. I was looking into his brown eyes but it was not brown when I can see there was orange in the center.
"Excuse me?"
"Marry me and I can treat you to every meal in this restaurant," he said before I blinked at him. Then, the unexpected happened. I laughed in his face.
