I figured we would go for the woods as that would be easier to start off with and I wouldn't have to worry about shit like zombie filled sewer systems under my base fucking me later on.
I start looking around on a map we had gotten from a gas station we raided.
'System would like a camping ground work to start a new base it won't be counted as a hot spot will it?' I ask as there's quite a few camping grounds some with lakes as well it would be good to get somewhere already pretty cleared and designed to an extent.
[This can be counted as a new base as you'll have to have walls added for the system update.]
'How is the system update going to work?' I ask.
[Universal building tool will be stocked with building blueprints scaling from wood to futuristic. I doubt you'll get anything futuristic built though as unlocking them requires materials and specific zombie kills and Horde survival waves. Vehicle blueprint upgrades will also be installed into the universal multi tool. Item materials can be gathered by deconstruction of other items such as trees and vehicles.]
There's a flash and the pen like multi tool is in my hands.
[You will be given a basic barricade to wall off your territory for upgraded barricades please use your own materials.]
I get the image of just a crappy wall made out of sticks would probably be better used as fire wood if I where honest.
'Can I get like a basic dumb down version of this so I don't have to collect like billions of different metals or something that sounds really tedious.' I ask.
[Request accepted. Basic items will be wood, stone, metal, etc. In exchange prices will be higher.]
Fair trade off I suppose.
I find a decent looking state park it's a little bit aways but close enough to a bigger city and in a good spot.
I tell Alice where to go as she's still driving. "Why a state park? That doesn't seem like a good place to make a base."
"There's water and most state parks use solar panels to power things so we can scavenge quite a few of those if need be. I know how to wire them. So there's power and water. Also I doubt there will be loads of zombies there as whose first thought when things get nasty is to head to the state park to hunker down?" I tell her.
There might be some zombies so we are still going to have to be careful.
About 2 hours later we are outside a decent sized state park. What's it's name you ask?
So we drive right on in killing a few zombies chasing the truck. There's aren't very many only about 10 or so. Some wearing park ranger uniforms.
[Would you like to make this your home base?]
'Yeah sure.'
There's a flash and a blue screen pops up in front of my face. It shows a small map of the area we are in and let's me have a god like over view. I can deconstruct or build anything in my area by using this over view.
Basically I've got a big block of space on the map and I can get other spots to add onto by clearing out the zombies in the area.
By the side of my home zone is a list of available items I can decontruct. I give it a quick scroll. I deconstruct everything except for 2 four wheelers and a restroom with showers in the camping area along with the solar panels and batteries.
the girls are shocked by the magical floating blue screen and the sudden disappearing trees and buildings.
I bring up my shitty stick wall and place it around my area so all that's left are 2 four wheelers off in the distance and a single bathhouse, there's a couple solar panels standing around as well.
"Your the one doing this right?" Jill asks warily.
"Yeah its me sorry about that." I laugh.
"How exactly are you doing this?" She asks me.
"I'd tell you a long story about God's and such but your gunna have to wait a bit on that." I tell her.
"So it's some kind of blessing?" She says.
"No. There was a trade off." I say with a sigh.
"What was the trade your soul or something?" She says with a laugh.
"The trade was hordes of undead will hunt me down and evolve into nemesis style zombies like what almost killed me." I say looking at their horrified faces.
"And you think the 4 of us will be able to hold them off with stick walls?" She asks in confusion.
"No I need to get materials and do upgrades so you guys will be safe." I tell her.
"And how do you get materials?" she asks as they all listen closely.
"I use this tool and kind of dissolve them." I tell them. "I basically need wood, stone, and metal for upgrades of course there's more things but that's the typical."
"So you brought us to a state park for wood materials basically?" she says with a raised eyebrow.
"Something like that but it's also a nice quiet place to start up." I tell her. "We are going to drop off the trailer here as its too bulky for fast maneuvers then we can raid the city over for materials. And start slowly working our way up."
We park the camper up near the bathroom area. There's no zombies inside the bathroom either.
I open up my little menu and start messing around while Alice and Jill get the four wheelers.
I spend some cheap materials to have the solar panels hooked up to the camper and the bathroom water heater. The camper has a generator but I don't really want to have to use gas.
I use some more materials and hook up water to the camper from the restroom. It's all done with light flashes and material usage so it's neat and quick.
Things like rubber, plastic, and electronics are put into a misc category and used when needed or converted.
"So what's the first thing you are getting?" Alice asks as she parks the four wheeler.
"An upgraded wall as this one won't hold long."
"What do you need for that?" she asks curiously coming and looking over my shoulder at the screen.
"Basically more wood." I tell her looking it over and browsing items and designs.
"Easy enough." she says with a smile.
