You were surprised at how fast and sturdy Sam's horse was, you had never left the village, or at least you never got too far, but as you ride with the vast open fields with a city in the distance you never realized how cramped your little village was.
"So what do ya think?"
"Its... beautiful" you say in aw admiring the lush green grass the mild breeze, it was straight out of a story book
"Ay, there's nothin' like it" he says in a peaceful tone
"Are you an Adventurer?" it seems like he has done this a lot
"Nay, I don't think I could, though I do travel a lot for business"
"What kind of buisness do you run?"
"Oh ah run a small shop an' dabble in smithing but its more of a hobby." We continued riding until around noon "We're approaching th' city so stay close to me until we git your ID."
A guard approached us "Halt! What's your business here?" he was clad in plate steel armor, but I guess guards outside the city would need it
"Return visit with a friend" Sam says and hands the guard a small silver-ish card
"Alright Mr.Girthhart head on in" we rode past him and as we got closed to the city I began to fully appreciate the magnitude of it. It had massive stone walls with a few archers dotted around with a large wooden gate with metal enforcers and 2 large stone towers slightly bigger than the wall on each side of the gate.
"Welcome tae Sindrie th' trading capital of Calmite" Sam. You realize that there are 4 different gates in each cardinal direction, the houses were mostly stone with wooden supports and roofs and gravel roads with marketplaces scattered everywhere.
"I had no idea a place like this existed my old village seems so small and pathetic now compared to this grandeur!"
"Ay, I'd imagine so, an' it's one of the most secure cities in th' country" he said with a certain sense of pride.
"Wait you said we're in Calmite, you mean we rode all the way here!?"
"Ay, as far as it was it's th' only place with a hospital good enough fur your wounds, mah dressings are only temporary."
Once he said we were in Calmite I thought it would be mostly dwarves but as we rode through the city I saw a mix of every race and some I've never heard of before.
"We're almost there, one of the doctor's there is a friend, im sure he'll give ya a discount if he knows your with me"
"I really can't thank you enough, for everything you've done, if there's anything, anything! I can do for you don't hesitate to ask and I give you my word I'll do it to the best of my abilities" he saved my life and I owe it to him.
"That's eh dangerous promise, I'll be sure to remember it."
