Chapter 97 - Curved Dagger (1)

Ye Jiao proceeded to tell Lu Wan everything that happened to her in Hell Island. Her story was not detailed, but she still told him most of the things that she knew.

"You get out of the island pretty quick," Lu Wan pondered. "I think that your poison training is not over yet."

"Not over?" Ye Jiao's mind blanked for a moment. Recalling her painful experience when she had to forcefully drink those poison and endured their violent reaction in her body, she wanted to cry. Did it mean she still has to continue those training?

Lu Wan nodded his head. "It's just going to be painful in the beginning. Before long, you're going to get used with them."

"Senior Brother Lu, do you know how much I hate that training?"

"Even if you hate it, you still have to continue the training," Lu Wan grinned. "It's not known whether you're going to face poison in the future. Without any immunity, you're going to die when facing them."

Ye Jiao groaned. She didn't want to continue the training from that time again, but she knew that it would be inevitable. It would be better for her to suffer during training rather than get poisoned to death.

"Fine… but why are you so interested in them?"

"I have great interest in poison and find them extremely interesting. Do you know that I have just developed another combination of a light feather...?"

As Lu Wan revealed his research, Ye Jiao could only stare blankly. She had never realized that her senior brother was a genuine poison lover. No- he was truly a maniac. Without the need to stop, Lu Wan continued to reveal the characteristic of the poison that he recently developed.

"I also test it to myself, but it seems that it's too potent," Lu Wan rolled his sleeves and showed his arm, which was filled with multiple colored skin. There were also some bandages that were used carelessly. "The new poison makes my skin turn blue, so I know that it's going to kill someone if it directly enters someone's blood vessel…"

"Wait, Senior Brother Lu, are you telling me that you try the poison on yourself?" Ye Jiao was stunned.

Lu Wan nodded. "Do you think my family is going to leave me alone if they know that I'm developing such a dangerous poison? It's not over yet, though, as it's too unstable that I have trouble holding it together for a long time."

"If you test it on yourself, don't you worry that you're going to die?"

"I'm not that careless," Lu Wan said in a relaxed manner. "Besides, the boundless possibilities to create the poison only make me feel excited."

Ye Jiao was speechless at Lu Wan's answer. She knew that he loved to play with poison, but it would surely be dangerous if there was any mishap. Seeing his excited face, somehow Ye Jiao had the feeling that he would be happier to die because of his poison rather than by other people's hand.

"Oh yeah, we're talking about experience before, right?" Lu Wan recalled that he was asking Ye Jiao about Hell Island.

"Yeah."

"How's your experience in the forest? Those wolves are quite a handful, right?" Lu Wan grinned. He used to have a hard time dealing with them at first before he got used to them and didn't have any problem killing them. Even though the wolves were unranked beasts or rank 1, they lived in a group and proved to be quite a handful for the children to deal with.

"Yeah, but I can kill them in one strike after a while," Ye Jiao admitted.

"One strike?" Lu Wan was astonished. "Well, you're Eon Energy Master rank 1, so it's not that weird. Right, what's your weapon?"

"This."

Ye Jiao took the wolf's rib from her storage bracelet. The one she took was the one that she hadn't used, so it was clear. Besides, she didn't sharpen all of the ribs she had because it would take a long time. Only those that she used that she sharpened the edge to make sure that it could be used as a curved dagger.

Lu Wan stared at the bone on Ye Jiao's hand before looking at the girl in disbelief.

"Ye Jiao."

"Yes?"

"Don't tell me you're using the wolf's bone as your weapon."

"I do," Ye Jiao replied innocently. "Is there anything wrong with it?"

Is there anything wrong with it? There are a lot of problems!

Lu Wan didn't know whether he had to curse Ye Jiao for her foolishness or praised her from her creativity. She didn't tell them that she didn't have any weapons at first, so their master hadn't given her anything. If only she told them, they would surely prepare the best weapon for her.

"You… Don't you have any other weapon?"

"I don't," Ye Jiao admitted directly. "My mother never prepares any weapon for me because I'm too small. I also don't know that I have to fight there, so I never bring any weapons with me."

Lu Wan looked at Ye Jiao in disbelief. "You're an idiot."

"…"

"I'll prepare a weapon for you until Master comes. What kind of weapon do you think is suitable for you?"

Ye Jiao raised the bone on her arm. "A dagger with a shape similar to this is enough. I have gotten used to use them and I find it rather fun."

"Curved dagger, huh? It's quite a rare choice for a weapon," Lu Wan muttered. Most people would pick a sword as their weapons and it had become a standardized weapon in this kingdom. As a result, majority of Chen Kingdom's residents knew how to use sword properly.

"I think that it's the most suitable one for me," Ye Jiao replied. Originally, she also had the chance to sharpen the other parts of the bones. After a few trial and error, she managed to make a small sword out of the leg bone. Unfortunately, she decided to discard it because she preferred the curved dagger she made herself.

Lu Wan smiled. "Everyone has their own preferences for weapons. Even though I study swords from young, my main weapon is not that."

"What's your weapon, then?" Ye Jiao's eyes lit up in curiosity.

"I'll show you after you have gotten a proper dagger. For now, let's train with a wooden sword."

"Aw, ok."

Even though Ye Jiao was disappointed that she couldn't see Lu Wan's weapon, she agreed to his request and the two of them traded blows with wooden swords. Both of them knew the basic stances and use of swords, so they didn't have any problem in using it.

(A/N): Clarification regarding the two different conversations. Master Sheng is green talent, which is the lowest qualification to reach rank 4. He said it's not everything because not everyone can reach the rank even when they have the necessary talent. He didn't want Ye Jiao to be complacent because of her extraordinary talent.

Lu Wan was teaching Ye Jiao the limitation and importance of the talent. Those under green rank will never be able to reach rank 4 normally.

It's not contradictory as it has different context.
