Chapter 1 - 1. Prologue and meeting

What would you do if you were placed in an apocalyptic world.

What would you think when supernatural powers were possible.

What if humanity was almost driven to extinction and the cause of it was a virus. The effect can be felt after five seconds and the symptoms are as follows, constant vomiting, festering wounds, nausea and followed by a coma that would last for day then a zombie.

Not only that it was also a year where nuclear power plants suddenly went to a meltdown, a critical condition that can 1 wipe out almost half of the creatures on Earth. But all hope was lost, the power plants exploded and released the virus causing most humans to become zombies. This plunged the entire world to enter an age of Apocalypse. But all hope was not lost as both nuclear radiation and virus caused a change in humans, unlocking their capability to manipulate either matter, space or time. Such abilities were called gifts and those who manipulate it are the Etherians, but such abilities can be found only on the special ones or the chosen ones per se.

Having the thought that they could push back the undead horde, they razed them by blasting them with wind, fire, water and etc. Humans with no gift sought help with the robots and released a wave of missiles and explosions. When they thought that victory was near, it was just the start of despair. A Zombie lord, made by the essence of countless zombies and radioactive materials, appeared. It stood as tall the mountains and its skin was as thick as an aircraft carrier. It completely decimated the human attacking party and went back to hibernation after. But the awakening of the beast brought changes to the world as more undead creatures may it be wraith, vampire, and other undead creatures were brought to life on Earth.

Alien lifeforms tried to help the humans but they could only shake their heads as they only want to preserve their own race. They left completely and suddenly from the space station never to return. The space station crew and habitants could only watch helplessly as they saw their race slowly slaughtered like pigs and the butcher. They tried to save whatever they could but chose not to as fear took hold of them.

Somewhere in a different dimension, where everything was all white and an ancient gate written by golden inscriptions stood, a black figure stood there watching the gate as if anticipating for something. And his answer was called as a blue orb with azure flames burning outside came forth.

"A soul from the Epoch of Technology," he muttered as he snapped his fingers and soon the gate slowly broke into nothingness.

"Awake," he said as he saw the soul trembled with power and suddenly exploded into tiny fragments, dying the white world with blue and yet everything seemed cold as ice started to form around the figure, who only snapped then the ice stopped.

"A soul that had this much power," he muttered as he snapped his fingers again and soon the fragments collected themselves once again and formed the same orb with blazing azure flames. The figure blew gently as the orb was swayed by the wind and a portal opened behind it leading to the planet Earth.

"I hope that you can help them correct their mistake," the figure pleaded as he closed the portal and can only feel what was happening around the orb, who was like a shooting star that entered the earth's atmosphere and didn't cause an explosion once it touched the ground. Instead it just floated like an innocent orb, waiting like a beautiful maiden.

The phenomenon was not seen by all human kind nor was it felt. But somehow all humans felt like there was hope in this forsaken and rotten world. And one day a human teenager, at an age of below 17, stumbled on the path that leads to the orb. He just had average looks, very thin and malnourished that people might think that he will die. But despite that he held on with sheer will power. His family were massacred by the undead and only left him with his female best friend and childhood friend. But his powers were nothing to scoff at, for he can manipulate gravity. He already managed to kill a zombie when he unlocked his gift but the zombie he killed was his mother. Feeling aggrieved and hopelessness he ran away along with his friend.

The teen didn't notice that by the end of him thinking about his life, he stood face to face with the blue orb. When he realized that he was in front of the orb, he immediately backed away in fright.

"What the *@&#," he cursed loudly as crows flew away in fright. He cautiously went near the orb as he picked up a stick and poked at the object.

The orb was just intangible as the poking past through it. The teen stopped poking at it for a few times and saw a white spot on the tip. He touched it and felt the abnormal coldness that the stick shouldn't have.

"What the," the teen began to say but an inhuman shriek caused him to look behind and saw a male zombie staring at him, with a mouth hanging wide open and saliva dripping down. It had dozens of wounds and a huge hole on the stomach where blood was still dripping. It howled again as it sprinted at the teen wanting to eat him.

The teen moved backwards and felt the orb behind him moved at an abnormal speed entering his body. It was like time suddenly slowed down as the human was about to fall on his back while a zombie was lunging towards him. When suddenly the teen released a wave of frost, instantly freezing the zombie and shattering it.

The teen suddenly slumped unconscious on the ground. Frost started to build around him forming a dome structure protecting him.

The teen meanwhile was like in a white space with a blue orb before him.

"Umm, can you explain what is going on," the orb asked in confusion. It only saw darkness when it saw a bright light, fearing that the light will fade away it decided to grab hold of the light.

"Uh where are we," the teen asked worriedly as he looked around in panic.

"I guess this is what people call as the mind scape," the orb said as if it was the most normal thing. Ironically it remembered a lot of things but it doesn't know who, what, or why is it here.

"So what now," the teen asked as he wanted to get out of this damned mind scape. He tried to imagine that he was back where he was but in the end he was just back where he was.

"Sigh... If you really want to get out of here, promise me these things:

1. You will find me a body.

2. You will explain everything.

3. You will allow a mutual relationship between you and me.

Do these then I will allow you to get out of here," the orb said as it felt sorry that the teen has to suffer.

"Body? What for," the teen asked as he was concerned about the first condition. No one knows what will the orb do to the Body.

"Possession duh," the orb said as if it was the most simple answer in the world. But that caused the teen to pale in fright as he asked, "Possess!?"

"It's not what you think, technically a dead man has no soul so I am what you call a soul," the orb explained as to calm the teen.

"That makes sense," the teen said as he calmed down from the shock and asked, "What about the third condition?"

"Basically if I ask you to lend me control for a minute or if you want me to do something for you," the orb explained. It contained too much knowledge that it had to forget its name.

"Okay I guess, so what do I have to say," the teen asked as he wanted to get out of this place.

"Just say this: I, your name, abide by these promises and conditions of, you have to give me a name, if I fail to do these things then I will kill myself," the orb said.

The teen nodded and said, "Then I, Klaus Kleinfield, abide by the promise and condition of Soul, if I ever fail these things, I am subjected to punishment by death."

"You changed some words but that's okay," the orb said as the teen glowed white and disappeared from the mindscape. It then thought, "Hmm... Based on what happened earlier, I can assume that it was not normal ice. It felt like as if it was corroding the zombie and at the same time freezing it."

The orb tried to form ice but failed as it grunted in frustration, "Why!?"

Meanwhile Klaus was shock to know that he was protected by an ice dome and his body have no injuries or whatsoever. Seeing that this spot was still dangerous, he needed to run away and fast.
