As the girl rushed by without so much as even looking at me, I couldn't help but feel a slight touch of deja vu.
Turning around I saw Eva and her father embrace and for the first time I think I saw Mango truly smile, he looked as he could eat a horse his mouth was so wide. Seeing the two happily exchange stories I didn't hesitate to give them some alone time, so I started grabbing some boxes and headed on inside.
As if seeing me for the first time Eva stopped talking and watched me walk into the store. Seeing this Mango couldn't help himself, "Ahh curious are we? He's a little weird but he seems like a good lad." Evas face turned slightly pink, "I'm not curious at all I'm just wondering who you've brought to work with us. He looks extremely young and I doubt he can even write his name let alone help run a store!" Eva huffed out with a sigh . Mango just chuckled to himself for a minute before letting his smile fade and Eva couldn't help but notice he looked extremely serious. He looked over matched her gaze for a moment before finally speaking up. "The boys name is Kasper, frankly he can read and write perfectly I tested it myself. Which is strange for a random boy his age, especially one with no memories." "No memories? He doesn't remember anything not even his parents?" Eva stammered in disbelief "how did that even happen?" Mango could sense her unease growing so he quickly spoke up, "relax daring I didn't mean to worry you, I don't sense any ill will from the boy he seems like a good lad, he seems smart and dependable and I didn't want to leave him alone so I figured I'd make an apprentice out of him if he can keep up." "We'll if that's the case I guess he can stay, you are getting older Papa some help wouldn't hurt ya." Eva said with a smile as she grabbed the receipts and started peaking and organizing the notes from the trip. Lost in her work she didn't notice the look Mango had on his face or the gleam in his eye. "This boy..." he thought to himself, "I can't tell what it is but there's a power from him I can sense. I don't know who he truly is or how he got here, but he's gonna be special." Mango suddenly felt a warriors urge fill up inside him once more. His whole itched for a good adventure, but he knew those days were behind him. This kid though, maybe he has what it takes. Suddenly a loud crash echoes all the way outside and Kasper sprints outside, "yeah so I may or may not have tried carrying 3 boxes at a time and one might've fallen" he managed to make out before abysmally attempting to whistle and look around in every direction but the Iron Giants. "Or maybe not" Mango muttered before letting out a giant roar and chasing Kasper across the yard. Kasper wasn't an elite athlete back home by any means so he was surprised to see how easily he was able to dodge and avoid Mango and even more so how little energy he felt he was losing. Little did he know Mango was having the exact same thoughts in his own head. "I know I'm older but I could still be consider an elite earth using adventure but he's able to to dodge back and forth." Kasper and Mango were laughing aloud at this point while Eva just shook her head with a slight smile on her lips, she was just happy to see her Papa look ten years younger and laughing like she hadn't seen in a long time. Hey I guess new world new me right Kasper uttered, what appeared to be his final words because soon after Mango seemed to double his speed and instantly catch Kasper. With one big hoist Mango picked him up by the head and carried him inside to clean up the damage. "Or maybe not" Kasper thought.
