In July 2875, Melissa gave birth to Sabina, Metatron's and Keila's daughter. Sabina was a healthy child despite the procedures on her embryo. When Metatron studied the lively gaze in her light green eyes, he felt her soul. Metatron was happy that a surrogate mother gave birth to Sabina, instead of using a synthetic womb.
Metatron visited Melissa as she was recovering from childbirth.
Melissa:
- She is beautiful, isn't she? The daughter of you and Keila.
Metatron:
- Sabina is our daughter, Melissa. I want her to feel that way when she is growing up.
Melissa:
- But she can't be? We haven't had intercourse.
Metatron:
- That is true. But I don't want her to find out the truth. That her mother died while releasing man-eating monsters devastating Earth. Also, because of Keila, Melchior Dorevitch is terrorising Mars with his army of mind-controlled soldiers.
Melissa:
- So, what do you want us to do? To pretend to Sabina that we are husband and wife and that she is our daughter?
Metatron:
- No, I want us to get married, so we are husband and wife. For all the essential reasons, you and I are her parents. That is if you would like to marry me?
Melissa:
- I would love to marry you, grandmaster Metatron.
Metatron:
- I am happy to hear that, Melissa. I will make an announcement to make it official, and then we will invite all the Edenites to the ceremony!
- I got to go back to work. I'll come by a bit later.
After leaving the room, Metatron retreated to his private bedroom, locked the doors, and cried. He had decided to finally give up on Keila and move on with his life. Metatron had to move on, he had a child to look after, and he could not raise a child obsessing over the child's dead biological mother.
A lie and a new beginning were the best solution for everyone. In due time, Metatron was confident that he and Melissa could form a happy family. Melissa was a perfect woman: loyal, obedient, loving and hard-working. But she lacked the beauty, the passion, and the drive that made Keila extraordinary.
Metatron decided that he wouldn't tell Sabina the truth about her mother. It was better for everyone if Sabina grew up to be a good Edenite woman. In this way, Metatron was old-fashioned. While he hadn't approved of Abraham's tyrannical ways, he had agreed to the basic premise. Metatron believed that people needed to be part of a society with well-defined roles and rules. In such a community, everyone carried out their allocated lot in life to improve society.
