A dejected Meili, decided to check on her mother and also inform her father. Jinjing and Buzz were by her side all the time. Papa Lee had gone back home. He had to be at the office tomorrow, since he was aware that the Sheng's would not be coming in anytime soon.
Even though Jinjing was in a bad shape, she had to stay strong for Meili and also for her belief, that Liang would come out of this safe and healthy.
Father Sheng was tending to a phone call outside the room when he saw the kids approaching him.
After all these hours, he had finally noticed Jinjing's presence. The hagard look on her face, showcased her true love and concern for Liang, which he failed to see in Jiaying.
Ever since the couple were enlightened about their son's love for Jinjing, they had been blaming themselves for not understanding their children well.
"Dad... how is mom?" Meili's question broke Mr. Sheng's train of thoughts. He shifted his focus to his daughter and said "she is fine but still weak.
What's Liang's status?" father Sheng nervously asked. Considering Meili's state, Buzz informed Mr. Sheng of what the doctor said.
"I just told your mother about Liang's surgery and she did not take it really well. I don't know how to break this news to her?" Mr. Sheng ran a hand through his hair out of frustration.
"Mr. Sheng! Don't worry, I have a strong belief, that Liang will be absolutely fine. We need to keep this from Mrs. Sheng for the time being. We should just tell her that he is recovering well." Jinjing suggested in full earnestness. Mr. Sheng was impressed by her composure and positive attitude. Unknowingly, he was comparing her to Jiaying in his mind.
Meili and Buzz entered the room and greeted Mother Sheng. Upon being asked about Liang, they informed her as decided. While talking to Meili, Mrs. Sheng's gaze fell on the demure silhouette standing at the entrance. She narrowed her eyes and tried to see who it was. Her eyes widened when she saw Jinjing standing at the door with a smile on her face.
Teary eyed, Mrs. Sheng extended both her hands towards Jinjing, gesturing her to come forward. Jinjing consistently walked to Mrs. Sheng's bed and greeted her before sitting on the chair next to the bed.
The tears in Mrs. Sheng's eyes rolled out. She was meeting Jinjing after a very long time and she was full of guilt, for ignorantly separating the two lovers.
She cried profusely and apologized to Jinjing "I am sorry. I did not know about the two of you. I wouldn't have arranged for the engagement, had I known."
Jinjing wiped Mrs. Sheng's tears with a tissue and tried to pacify her.
"Mrs. Sheng, it is not your fault. Please relax. It will affect your health." She continued to rub the back of Mrs. Sheng's hand.
Mrs. Sheng always had a soft corner for Jinjing, since she was the only genuine friend her daughter had and she came from a good family. She secretly wished for her to marry Liang but..... unfortunately, she committed such a big blunder.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and a nurse entered. She informed the family, "the driver, who was brought in along with Mr. Sheng, has regained consciousness."
In their panic and sorrow, the Sheng's had completely overlooked the fact that Liang's driver was the one driving the car and was admitted here as well.
