A worried Mu Jiaying ran her way into the room. she dramatically pulled mother Sheng into a hug and continued shedding crocodile tears "Mother!!! I was away for just a few days and what has transpired here…." She trailed.
Sniffing and breaking away from Mother Sheng, but still holding her hand, Jiaying said "I just came back…. I should not have let brother Liang out of sight…. It's all my fault"
The Sheng parents were not aware of Jiaying's scandalous behavior. The Sheng siblings had kept it under wraps so as to not agitate their parents. Even when the Mu's pulled out their investment, Liang covered up the tracks not wanting to further escalate the matter. Since his aim was to get rid of Jiaying, and so he did, he did not find it necessary to exact a revenge. As it is, he felt he was somewhat equally responsible for it.
He would not have in this wildest dream ever thought that Jiaying was so thick skinned.
She continued her pretense. "what if something happens to brother Liang…." She was harshly interjected by father Sheng, "what non sense are you saying. Don't you see she is not keeping well?" pointing at Mother Sheng's pale face.
"instead of consoling and speaking words of encouragement, you are spurting non sense… our son will be alright." Father Sheng berated Mu Jiaying.
She was stunned by his harsh tone, he had never spoken to her like this, in fact, he doted on her as the future daughter in law.
She thought 'do these two know about the video??? Well since they let me stay here…. That means no.' She pretended to feel low and apologized for her mistake saying she was stressed due to Liang's condition.
"Father where is brother Liang? I want to see him." She did not let the act drop even a bit.
Excusing from his wife, he guided Jiaying out of the room and told her about Liang's condition and his ongoing surgery. She pretended to be shocked and even brought herself to shed some more tears. Leaning on father Sheng's shoulder for support she said in a weak voice, "I will go see brother Liang first. I can't stay away from him anymore." And slowly made her way to the OR floor.
When she entered the VIP area, she caught hold of the attending nurse and asked her for Liang's information on the pretext of being his fiancée. The nurse told her about how critically injured he was. Hearing the news, outwardly she emoted shock and disbelief but inwardly she rejoiced.
'With Liang's end…. It would be the end of my miseries' her mind was filled with evil thoughts. Ever since the day he showed her the video, she had been worried of being humiliated in the society. Though this did not stop her from spending the last few days nestled in Yang Hui's arms in his farmhouse.
Today she had come to only show her fake concern, so that no one could point at her in the future.
When she was standing there lost in her malicious plans, the door the OR opened and an exhausted surgeon, after almost three hours of surgery, made his way out.
She moved a little forward, still maintaining a safe distance from the annoying Meili and Buzz. But she was stunned to see Lee Jinjing approach from the other end.
'she is back? What happened? Are they together once again?' holding back on her thoughts she carefully tried to listen to the doctor.
The doctor said, "were able to stop the bleeding. But during the surgery Mr. Sheng arrested once again. The next 24 hours are crucial. We won't be able to ascertain the level of brain activity until he gains consciousness." He paused for the family to ask any questions.
Jinjing immediately inquired "what do you mean by level of brain activity?" she was worried.
The doctor pursed his lips, and taking a deep breath he informed, "the time the heart arrests, it stops pumping the oxygen-rich blood to the other parts, that includes the brain. This lack of blood sometimes causes the brain to be permanently damaged." Seeing their tensed faces, he quickly tried to console them, "it doesn't need to necessarily be the case every time. We are hopeful that Mr. Sheng will make a full recovery." He did not wait anymore and left the scene.
Listening to his prognosis, where on one hand the family was shattered, Jiaying was elated. She smirked and called someone. "there are very low chances of him surviving." She disconnected the call and trotted her way out of the hospital.
