Same Morning in city B.
Liang reached his home, first time in many weeks. He called out loudly to the maids asking to prepare sumptuous breakfast for him. He was starving. Happiness had worked up his appetite.
Hearing the rare happy voice of her son, Mother Sheng slowly made her way out of her room on the ground floor. With the support of her personal nurse, she went up the stairs to Liang's room.
After the surgery, out of precaution, the doctor had advised Mrs. Sheng to not tire herself by walking or climbing too much. As a result, the older Sheng couple, even moved their bedroom to the ground floor.
Panting lightly, she entered his room and greeted him with a hug. Worried, Liang said "Ma! Why did you come up? look how tired you are." Mother Sheng did not pay heed to what he was saying, she was so pleased to see her son as his former self, that the corner of her eyes were glistening with tears.
Cupping his mother's face, Liang, gently wiped her tears with his thumbs. "Ma! What happened why are you tearing up?"
"I am very glad my son to see you so cheerful once again." Hearing the reason of her happiness, the mother-son pair hugged each other firmly. Liang quickly changed into his leisure wear and helped his emotional mother down the stairs to the dining room.
The family of four gathered around the table for breakfast after a very long time. Since the incident, the happy Sheng family house had turned silent and lifeless. Mother Sheng watched her son for a long time. From his twenty first birthday to now, when he was going turn twenty-seven in less than six months, she felt as if she had missed out a large part of his growing up into a mature man.
Liang gobbled up a lot of the food laid on the table. He did not remember the last time when he ate so much. He was content. Half his battle was already won, he just had to conquer the queen. And now, he needed to strategize.
Keeping in mind this uphill task, his appetite increased even more. Looking at her beloved son stuff his mouth with food, Mother Sheng could only shake her head and continue eating with a smile.
Finally, placing her phone on the table and focusing on the food, Meili scanned her surroundings and found her brother behaving weirdly.
"what's wrong with you. Are you storing up for winter or what??" she remarked sarcastically.
"nothing is wrong anymore. Henceforth, everything will only be right." Liang continued to eat.
Not understanding the meaning of what her brother said, Meili ate without bothering to dig for details."
The Sheng couple was elated to see the atmosphere of the house return to normalcy.
Done with his breakfast, Liang did not wait for Meili to finish up before pulling her away from the table by her collar. A rather surprised Meili shrieked "hey what are you doing? Let me eat in peace…." With her mouth full of food and chopsticks still in hand, Liang dragged her all the way to his room and shut the door with a bang.
Almost dropping her to the floor, he impatiently said "I need your help!"
