Chapter 1 - No such thing as Fearless...

"There's no way that's your name mister! Don't lie to me!"

"Hmm... it's not really a name, so you're not wrong, but i'm not lying!"

Walking down a road in a small town, a man and a little girl could be seen walking together.

"Brother said to me that liars are meanies and that I should stay away, but you gave me bread so you must be a nice person..." the little girl could be seen to be struggling with the thought "But you're lying so you should be a bad guy!"

"Aiyo, little girl... why won't you believe me..." the man said. The man was quite tall, with the little girl's height only reaching to his waist. His looks were neither handsome nor ugly. With a good posture and a decent face, he looks like a type of person you just can't get angry at.

As they walked pass a florist, the man stopped by to buy a few flowers. The little girl became confused of his action.

"What's with the flowers mister?" the little girl asked.

"For your brother. You don't even have enough money to buy food, so your brother definitely doesn't even have a flower right?"

Hearing that, the little girl gleamed with joy "Thank you mister! You're definitely a good guy!" after saying that, the girl then started thinking out loud "Maybe you really weren't lying after all..."

Seeing the little angel like glee from the little girl, the man can't help but show a smile on his face.

After walking for quite some time, they finally reached their destination.

"Brother! I'm here to see you" With a smile on her face she dashed towards a tombstone.

"Look brother! I got some bread! Like you, i can somehow get myself food as well!

"Also brother, i can now outrun that stall owner just like you!"

"Do you think mom and dad would be proud? hehehe..."

"..."

"Sniff..."

"Brother... I kept my promise... Like you said, I've made sure to keep on smiling, just like you wanted me too..."

The girl whose smile was so bright before was now still smiling, but tears could definitely be seen.

The man watching by the side kept quite. He placed the flowers he bought in front of the tombstone.

...

After a while, the man and the little girl could be seen walking around town again.

"So little Aya, what do you plan to do now?" the man asked.

The little girl whose name is Aya answered "I don't know... maybe I'll try to go mess with that stall owner like brother usually did. I can already outrun him, so maybe i'll just keep training that way..."

"Hahaha little girl, if you keep that up, you might be able to register as a theif at the adventurer guild. Your brother would definitely be proud." After saying that, he took out a pouch and gave it to Aya. "But until then, here's some money. Try to stir away from doing such things. Here, take this. Do your best and make it last long enough okay? If you need more, try to find me."

Receiving the pouch of money that was filled with blindingly shiny coins, Aya was overjoyed. "Thank you mister, Thank you!" As she said that, she hugged the man. Though with her height, it was like a koala hugging a tree.

As they walked away from each other, the day continues and eventually ends.

Though soon, it won't only be the days that would be ending...
