Chapter 31 - Demon Princess

Tristan looked through the information on the Vast Expanse. The traitorous Demon Princess was actually the eldest princess in the Demon's royalty. Her name was Shamana and considered one of the most talented members of the demon race younger generation.

However five years ago, her personality changed rapidly. It was said that viciousness among demons was a trademark and the princess Shamana used to be extremely vicious. However, five years ago, after an accident, her personality changed rapidly and became more milder. She also started taking interest in other races, especially humans.

It was then that rumors of her being traitorous actually emerged, but the royalty mostly dismissed her as being rebellious. She had since begun acting a lot on her own, travelling hidden worlds and exploring further.

One day the demons as well as angels discovered an extremely stable isolated world that had formed connections with their subservient sub worlds. Inside that isolated world a treasure was discovered, which Tristan surmised was the Matrioshka Egg.

The discovery of the egg led to the the bloody war, a terrifying war with incredible losses on both sides. It was hypothesized by the humans that this war actually left breathing room for humans to grow and consolidate.

Eventually the demons managed to capture the treasure, but the treasure was actually stolen by the princess Shamana and she disappeared from the world.

Tristan sighed. The sudden change in Shamana was very suspicious. What exactly happened five years ago?

What puzzled him the most was the bizarre nature of her explosion. She was protecting the egg with her life, but then detonated herself when she was in a position of advantage. Tristan decided to visit the book shop. May be he could find some clues.

In the shop, Tristan walked in. The book store was the same as before, as of nothing had happened. The only difference was his own life had changed forever.

He remembered that fateful day, when he was reading his favorite copy of Robinson Crusoe. It was a very unique copy and the only one in the store with original art.

Suddenly he shuddered. The nightmare he kept having, the woman exploded and he always was left with the impact of the explosion waking him up, but something had happened to the book at that moment.

Tristan thought for a bit and walked around the store and found the book. The moment he touched it, he felt unsettled, but he kept calm. He walked to the counter.

"I'd like to purchase this book." Tristan said with a smile. The clerk was now a new person and the two didn't know anything about each other. Tristan purchased the book and walked out.

"The book actually survived the explosion. There is something wrong with it. Did the demon princess do something to it?"

At home, Tristan took out the book in his room. He then opened it, however the book began turning pages automatically and Tristan was pulled into the book's world.

In front of him, a woman was slouched beside a tree, yawning. It was a human. She saw the sudden appearance of Tristan in the book world and got excited.

"You are finally here! I thought you would never realize what I did. Thankfully you had brains." The woman yelled to the world with excitement.

"You are the demon princess... but your soul is actually a human? No wonder.. no wonder... everything is clear now." Tristan said with a smile.

The woman looked at Tristan dumbfounded. "You... you already figured out what happened without me telling anything?"

Tristan shook his head. Not everything, but I think I have the main parts now. "Five years ago, the demon princess Shamana has an accident and her personality suddenly twists rapidly and from being a ruthless and murderous person, she suddenly became interested in humans, a foreign race which is enemies with demons.

I'm guessing something happened five years ago and a human soul displaced into the body of the demon princess." Tristan spoke out his analysis.

The woman sighed. "Five years ago the demon princess actually died. I was originally a human from earth, but a different earth. There are no strange fantastical elements like this in that earth. Five years ago I died in that world and was reincarnated into the body of the demon princess, but I didn't want to be a demon, I wanted to be a human.

Then that bastard Temptation merchant offered me two items in return for two vows. One was to steal the egg and bring it to earth and detonate myself in front of you fusing my soul into this book world."

Tristan immediately crumpled his face. "What was the second vow?"

The woman shook her head. "I don't know. He would only declare the vow when he needed me to."

Tristan was silenced for a while before he asked. "So why were you waiting for me within this book?"

The woman got excited. "The temptation merchant gave me an item that will create my soul into human form again. But I need your help for that."

"What do you need?" Tristan asked.

"Liquified Life Essence. A lot of it." The woman said.

"Are you serious? Do you know how expensive it is?" Tristan asked.

The woman nodded. "I know. Even for royalty getting a bottle is a dream. But I really need that much to reform my body and you are the only person I can count on. I won't leave you hanging. Just organize the life essence for me, I'll pay you back. When I was coming to Earth I didn't come empty handed, and I have my treasures with me. I'll pay you once I get the body."

Tristan thought for a bit, hesitating. But then spoke. "Okay, I have life essence. I'll give it to you. How should i do it?"

The woman's eyes opened wide. "When you leave the book world, just pour the life essence on the open book until it transforms."

Then Tristan left the book world with a thought. He sighed, then a bottle of Liquified Life essence appeared in his hand. He began pouring it and the book began to glow brighter and brighter. One bottle was gulped down. Then two more bottles gulped down. Finally at the end of the fourth bottle, one third of his life essence stash was swallowed by the book that it was enveloped by a cocoon of energy which kept pulsating and changing shape forming the silhouette of a human.

Finally the energy subsided and a woman in flesh appeared in Tristan's room, albeit naked. The woman leapt with joy. "I'm finally back!"

Tristan ran to his sister's room and picked some clothes and threw it into his room. "Dress up!" He yelled.

Fifteen minutes later a prim woman who looked to be 18 was now standing in Tristan's room, looking at herself in the mirror.

Tristan was sitting on a chair. "What is your name?"

"My name is Emily."
