Chapter 80 - Care...

"How is he? Is he going to be alright now?" Laura asked loudly when she entered the room. Behind her, Bianca quietly followed her with her head lowered. It was as if by not looking at the man lying on the bed, she could avoid being noticed. "Bianca is here with me. She needs to hear what you're about to say."

Jun Ji narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything. He was obviously displeased by the other woman's presence but he chose to just ignore her this time. He, too wanted to hear what the doctor has to say.

Looking at the two women, Liam helplessly sighed. Laura was evidently annoyed but he wondered what she's up to by bringing Bianca inside the room. "Jun Ji's previous surgery was a success. The blood clot in his head has cleared, and he's slowly getting better." Liam replied.

Laura raised her head and turned to Bianca behind her. "See? He's alright! You don't have to worry about him anymore! He'll recover soon. You can go back now and just forget about him. He doesn't want you beside him anyway!"

Liam was stunned by Laura's harsh words. What was she trying to do? "I didn't say Jun Ji is healed now. It will take some time before his vision gets recovered.... "

Laura shot a warning glance towards Liam and he can only stop talking. He swallowed his words and just looked at her in the eye. "But he will gain his vision back, right? He. Will be. Alright!"

Liam wanted to say it's not that easy. It's possible for Jun Ji to gain his vision back but it's not a hundred percent guaranteed. Even the brain trauma he suffered, it's still unknown how much it'll affect his other bodily functions. While recuperating, something could always go wrong along the way. But since Laura had already spoken, he can only nod his head in agreement. "Yes. Of course. I'm his doctor. Of course he'll be alright." he replied.

Satisfied by the man's response, the corner of Laura's lips curled up as she turned to Bianca. "See? I told you there's nothing to worry about. Come on! I'll take you home."

On his bed, Jun Ji was still silent. Was it true? Is it really possible for him to regain his eye sight? It sounded too good to be true, but the doctor confirmed it a moment ago. He was in deep thought when he heard Laura yelped. He heard her call Bianca's name. What just happened?

"What's the matter?" Liam asked what was on Jun Ji's mind.

"I'm alright. I was just a bit dizzy." Bianca replied.

"No! You are not okay. Look how pale you are. Let's go get you checked first. You look ill. All those nights you've stayed awake for some ungrateful jerk must be weighing down on you." Laura nagged.

Again, Jun Ji didn't say anything. He knew Laura was saying those words for him to hear, and he knew too that those were true. But something bothered him more than those remarks. Something he couldn't point out.

"How is she?" Jun Ji asked many minutes later after the women left the room. Liam almost didn't get what he meant and wondered who he was referring to for a while.

"Do you mean Bianca? She's as pale as a sheet of paper. Probably just tired and anemic. She's been looking after you for almost two weeks now, and she stayed up every night. Don't worry. I think she just needs some rest." Liam answered. It looks like Jun Ji didn't dislike the woman that much. It could be that he cares for her and so he didn't want to give Bianca false hope? Is it the real reason he's being cruel to her? The way he shouted at her and humiliated her the past three days tells a different story though....

"Can we go home now?" Charmaine asked Leo. "I don't feel unwell anymore."

Leo stared at his wife's face. She looked well, but he's still worried. "Let's stay the night." he replied. "I'll postpone my business trip for a couple of days more so I can look after you."

Charmaine frowned. "No! That's not necessary! This is just an isolated case. This definitely won't happen again. I'll take two days off from work so that I can rest properly."

"A week." Leo pressed. "Stay home for a week or until I'm back." Charmaine wouldn't just faint because of nothing. Surely, there's something he was unaware of. He needs time to figure it all out but it might take longer than expected.

Charmaine just looked at Leo but didn't answer. Everything that's happening right now was just baffling. What emotional stress? The only person who caused her that in her previous life was the man standing beside her bed! So far, Leo has been good to her this time around and there's no reason for her to be stimulated due to some kind of trauma she doesn't know about. But how about her missing memories? What are those? Why did she lose them? It's quite strange that she remembers the future but can not recall her past...

"How is she?" Luke asked as he entered the masters bedroom. His parents arrived a bit earlier than he did and Charmaine slept as soon as they got home so Luke can only stare at his mommy's sleeping face as he worriedly asks about her condition.

Leo pulled the kid to a quiet corner before answering his questions... "She said she's fine but... Do you know anything about this? Did she faint before because of something frightening?" he mumbled before hurriedly waving his hand. "No, forget about it. What would a four year old know..."

Luke stared at his dad for a long time. He took a deep breath before blurting out. "I can read."

Leo turned to the boy and then furrowed his brows. "And so?"

"I can understand three languages. I'm young but I can learn. I haven't learn math but I can count. I can memorize phone numbers. I can memorize conversations...." Luke continued.

Leo narrowed his eyes. Where is this child getting at? What are those random informations for? He didn't get it. "Are you telling me not to underestimate you just because you're a small child?"

Luke stared at his father in the eye. "I'm saying I can remember. I learn faster than others because I can remember. I can remember everything I've seen and heard since I was two. Some of them, I still have no idea what it meant but I remember them all. You can ask me anything and I can tell you the details."

Silence. There was absolute silence for several seconds before Leo could break eye contact. Isn't that cool? His son is such a special kid? But how true was his words? "Mom has always been a cheerful lady. She was tough and brave. Never was there a time I saw her frightened... except when my mama Jienna was first taken to the hospital. Even then, she didn't faint. she just cried." Luke told him.

Leo thought for a while before nodding at the kid. "Alright. Let's try your memory. What did Charmaine do during her twenty-first birthday?" He had no idea what Charmaine did during her twenty-first birthday. He was just curious so it's not really a test.

Luke averted his eyes. "She brought me to stroll around a nature park. She was silent the whole time and just looked around. Nothing really special. But we went home to mama Jienna gathering their friends and giving mom a surprise birthday celebration at home."

Leo nodded. He was initially satisfied with that answer until he suddenly realized that Luke wasn't even two when Charmaine celebrated her twenty-first birthday! Was the kid pulling his leg?
