Chapter 86 - Ch. 85 Cult of Thieves

As the duo walked along they spotted a group of people leaving the forest ahead frowning they got on guard but noticing the state of the travelers from the forest they faltered. What is this? Curious about the situation they walked towards one of them but was quickly interrupted by a ton of claws of clouds dragging animals from the forest. They didn't recognize the people but they did recognize the claws. Ellie and Addie together both looked at me. With a shrug I formed an arrow followed by a series of text. "Hide out of thieves?" Looking at the group of people who have started to rip into the animal corpses like animals Addie and Ellie both get even more confused. Those don't look like bandits. They collectively shrug as they follow the arrow out of simple curiosity. I would have preferred to leave those people alone but with them being desperate for food I figured just letting them loose may cause more problems for me. So might as well toss em a corpse or two of some small animals. I wonder why they didn't eat their captures? I mean from what I felt in that cave I assume they aren't all innocent of cannibalisms but why not dig in to the people who forced you into that as well? Fear? Of what killed them or of simply being locked up again?

As the two follow the arrow they find the corpses of the bandits at the forest edge, mist escaping their heads and flowing towards me. They seem to understand the bandits were dead already. So who were those people? Questions in mind, they followed the arrow till they found the mouth of a cave. Entering they found a man standing with a bunch of people behind him and he immediately bowed seeing Ellie. "Thank you for saving us we have collected all these bandits loot and are willing to offer it to you." The confusion on Ellie's face deepened... Addie was wearing a mask so I got no clue what her face is up to... Backflips? Regardless of what her face is doing they nod along and begin to look through the chests without concern as they already knew this was my doing and they could simply question me later. Since people were offering them things might as well see if theirs anything they want. Ellie quickly found some random accessories she liked along with some new cloths after tossing those things in her backpack not willing to change in front of others... Cause why would she? She frowned as their was nothing else she wanted... Closely looking through everything she found a large utility knife and a pair of daggers and swapped them out for her boar bone and wolf canines. Then stepped back. Noticing Addie didn't want any of it the two turn to go but the man from before stops them. "Hey wait..."

Turning to look at the man who seems less pitiful then the others Ellie starts with "I'm sorry we can't carry all of this so you can just have it or give it to those people who we saw on the road." Frowning the man shook his head. "No I wanted to warn you that killing these people may give you many enemies so it's best that you be careful. This cult is very much not a friendly or forgiving group of people and this small group of cultist was only a few of them they have groups like this all over the empire." Hearing his statement I saw Addie visibly shake as Ellie frowned but simply nodded her head "Ok." Luckily I don't care about making enemies with thieves... They would have robbed us anyways. As long as I don't turn all the humans against me I'll probably be fine can't not make a few enemies as a monster amongst humans anyways. Turning around to leave again the man doesn't know how to stop them again and before he can get the goods together to follow they were already gone.

Looking around after a few hours of travel Addie turns to me as they set up to camp for the night "What happened?" Hmm so Addie asked first interesting... Creating some cloud text I begin to explain how I saw the bandits dragging away large sacks and setting up to catch any travelers up the road so I killed them with my mist and let the captives the bandits had go after removing all the bandits. Hearing Ellie read out the whole story Addie nodded then turned to me again. "Thank you." Dude you didn't even thank me when I resurrected you, did you? What you doing thanking me for this? Moving on I remove the cloud text and begin to set up a little mist cover to watch for danger before settling down to meditate as Ellie grills some food she caught along the way excited to use her new daggers and utility knife she insisted that I wasn't allowed to help. Then spent about half an hour searching for any form of animal without my help before breaking and asking me to just find the prey. However due to her insisting that I didn't help I made her work for it... Ha... That's what she gets for underestimating my power. Shortly after the meal the girls settle down to sleep the darkened sky above slightly blurred out by mist cover. However a problem arouse. I found myself being kidnapped and forcibly placed inside Ellies shirt as she laid on top of her sleeping bag using it as a pillow alongside Addie. With a huff I stick my head out seeing her happily closing her eyes I give an inward sigh as I find a comfortable position to begin my meditation. Hey Alex status please.

Hmm that inward healing is really helping. Monitoring what percentage of my mist is needed to help from now and before is never a perfect exercise as it's mist... However I can still do it generally right now I need about eighty percent of my mist to heal before it was closer to ninety. So clear advantage. I mean it'd be better if I could get that down to fifty percent as that would mean increasing my current growth by almost two and a half times. Or my initial growth by five times...
