For the following days no one came to the solitary building to talk to Dreigh. He used those days instead to have a leisurely rest. Contradictory to the almost non-existing life the remnants have, the military institute was in a full swing with their activities. The soldiers including those with ranks were growing more and more restless as the days passed by.
The sky was clear and the weather was good, it was a perfect day for anyone to relax but it was not case because a messenger from the Supreme Commander's entourage arrived at the military institute to pass the message that the esteemed one was only a few hours away from the institute. The messenger was even welcomed warmly and treated generously all because he was with the Supreme Commander's men.
When the time came, General Rozen and the captains stood at the institute's entrance to welcome their esteemed guest. They were impeccably dressed and stood upright under the scorching sun as they waited patiently. They didn't wait long as a carriage bearing the insignia of the Kingdom of Glasfale stopped in front of them.
A man wearing a military uniform got down from his horse and stood beside the carriage. He opened the carriage's door and black clad leg appeared followed by a body covered with a red cape lined with gold dismounted. Rozen and the captains stood in attention as they waited for the man to completely dismount. The man from the carriage lifted his head and saw the soldiers lined to welcome him. A small smile appeared on his face.
"Saluting to the Supreme Commander, we welcome you to the Glasfale Military Institute," Rozen and the captains gave the man a synchronized salute and greeting that they have perfected.
The man referred to as the Supreme Commander waved his hands and walked forward with his guards. The Supreme Commander had a feminine face that often fools people. It was a contrast with his deep black eyes that seemed to be lifeless but yet alluring. He could smile but sometimes that smile may have a different meaning, it could be deadly. General Rozen has seen it so many times but still he could not differentiate which was a smile of approval or which smile can cause you your demise. Though his looks were leaning more towards the feminine side, his bearing was not even comparable to anyone in Glasfale. He could exude pressure no matter where he was or no matter what he does. He was the definition of a nearly perfect ruler if it were not for his twisted thinking.
Every general and minister under his rule knew how he came to power, it was a bloody road. After he became the Supreme Commander he went on to dispose all the remains of the past rulers before him. It was either annihilation or changing their loyalty for this group of people. Some chose to switch side and swear loyalty to the new ruler but some refused and were annihilated within a day.
The first year of his rule was relatively peaceful, the people of Glasfale experienced unprecedented peace for the first time in years. It was a joyful and worth celebrating year but without them knowing the Supreme Commander which they though would be better than the others changed overnight. He became cold and crueler and imposed laws that had left the whole of Glasfale speechless and defeated. This also caused the divide of the Eight Pillars into two opposing factions which didn't even faze the Supreme Commander.
They followed the man while he looked around the institute in silence. Not even Rozen dared to talk to the man and only walked in silence. There was an unspoken rule among them that unless the Supreme Commander has spoken first no one was allowed to talk in his presence.
"I heard you have a remnant who personally fought the Singular and survived," the Supreme Commander spoke out of the blue which caught Rozen off guard for a while.
Rozen fixed his mindset and answered, "Yes, he is currently at the old dormitory building together with the other remnants and I've also heard that he has already woken up."
"Is that so then invite him tonight," the Supreme Commander faced Rozen and he immediately understood what the other man means. Though Rozen didn't feel good about inviting a remnant, he still did what their ruler commanded.
He signaled for one of the captains following them to relay the message to Dreigh. The captain immediately gave a salute and left to do the Supreme Commander's bidding.
The remnants were busy being bored when they saw this particular military captain enter the building where they were being held and enter Dreigh's room. The door to Deigh's room opened once again just a few minutes later and the captain left like the hounds of hell was after him.
"What are you guys doing here?" Endo came from the back when he saw this group of remnant peeking from behind a wall. He also looked at the direction where they were looking at and saw nothing.
"A captain from the military institute came and visited Dreigh," LIna answered in a confused voice. "But he didn't stay for long."
Endo frowned and strode towards Dreigh's room forcibly pushing the door. Dreigh was momentarily stunned at the sudden 'bang' caused by the door. He looked up and saw Endo looking around the room warily like he was looking for anything suspicious.
"What are you looking for?" Dreigh gave him a questioning look.
Endo saw that Dreigh was looking at him like he had lost his mind and he coughed once to dispel the awkward atmosphere. "Nothing, by
the way I heard that someone visited today."
Dreigh looked at the awkward man for a while before he answered, "Yes, he was a one of General Rozen's men."
"What did he say?" Endo's curiosity was awakened and he can't help but look at Dreigh with anticipation.
"He invited me to a party."
