Eon and Rielen came to a stop some distance away from the charred remains of the undead. The walls opened up to a courtyard. It felt more peaceful in this area. Eon wondered if it was a safe area that is sometimes placed in these trials.
They shared the dry rations they had packed for today. Rielen hugged her knees as she kept watch around them. Her feet ached from the unfamiliar boots she wore. She missed her riding boots from their previous world.
Eon sensed her mood and rubbed her back. "Would you like to nap for a bit while we rest here?" He asked. Maze trials tended to go on for days. It was a race to the middle, but there were literal miles from the outside to the center.
There was no point in rushing. The true test will be in the coming days. Eon felt this test was a different kind of test then the trial by combat they had previously faced.
