Chapter 34 - Special Army First Mission

Three weeks has been passed, the number of survivor were decreased from ten into six. The survivor was me, Haili, Barbar, Rey, Grey and Mirei. Keina was promoted to be a technologist for military department. Meanwhile others didn't receive well ending.

Commander Kaez gathered us around for an announcement. We were all panting, sweat dripping from our foreheads, our bodies pushed to the brink of exhaustion. "Recruits, today marks a significant milestone in your training," Commander Kaez declared, his voice unwavering. "You have all shown exceptional progress and dedication. Now, it's time to take the next step." He gestured toward a massive, concealed object in the corner of the training facility. With a dramatic flourish, he unveiled it to reveal sleek, advanced combat suits.

The room was filled with a collective gasp as the gleaming combat suits came into view. They were a marvel of technological ingenuity, bristling with an array of futuristic weaponry and intricate components. Each suit appeared custom-tailored to accommodate the unique abilities of its wearer, a fusion of cutting-edge engineering and lethal combat capability.

"These are the latest generation of Alpha's advanced combat suits," Commander Kaez explained, his gaze sweeping across our awestruck faces. "They have been meticulously designed to harness your individual talents, amplifying your capabilities and providing an edge in the battlefield. These suits will become an extension of yourselves, enhancing your skills and enabling you to execute missions with unparalleled precision and power."

As he spoke, I couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation. The prospect of donning one of those extraordinary suits and unlocking its full potential was exhilarating, yet I couldn't shake the sense of foreboding that lingered in the back of my mind. Something about these suits seemed to hold a secret, one that I was determined to uncover.

"As for now, I request that all of you take a shower and rest, as tomorrow's training will be rigorous," Commander Kaez stated.

During the girl's shower, Haili turned to me and asked, "Are you okay, Lera?" She peered at me with concern in her eyes.

I nodded, offering her a small smile. "I'm fine, Haili. Just feeling the strain of the training, that's all. How about you? You did great out there. Also, don't peek at other." I smiled at her.

Haili beamed, water droplets glistening in her tousled hair. "Ahaha! I'm exhausted, but I feel alive, you know? This whole experience is intense, but I've never felt more ready to take on whatever comes our way."

Her enthusiasm was infectious, and I found myself feeling a surge of determination. "You're right. We've come this far, and we won't back down now. We'll show them what we're made of." I hope that she will never know my secret that's all.

"Exactly!" Haili's eyes sparkled with determination. "Let's get some rest. Tomorrow's a new day, and we'll be ready for whatever challenges it brings."

After our brief exchange, we finished our showers and headed back to the barracks, where we found our bunks and settled in for some well-deserved rest. The events of the day swirled in my mind as I drifted off to sleep, anticipation mingling with a hint of apprehension for the trials that lay ahead.

The next day, we were fitted with advanced combat suits that enhanced our abilities. They were sleek and powerful, designed to protect us and work with our unique skills. Training continued, and we learned to master the suits, facing various challenges in virtual reality simulations. The suits amplified our strength, speed, and agility, responding to our every move. It feels like a ninja.

Commander Kaez stood before us at training facility, his authoritative presence casting a solemn atmosphere over the gathered soldiers. The anticipation and tension in the room were palpable as he began his address.

"Good evening, soldiers," he began, his voice carrying the weight of the upcoming mission. "In two weeks, you will embark on a mission of utmost importance. I cannot overstate the significance of this endeavor. Your mental and physical preparedness will be tested to their limits, and the stakes are high. Mistakes will not be tolerated, as they could cost you your lives."

He paused, allowing the gravity of his words to sink in. We all knew the risks associated with the mission. We were to be a team of spies, infiltrating the enemy's territory, gathering vital intelligence, and ensuring the safety of our kingdom.

"Your role as spies demands a level of discipline, precision, and discretion that is unparalleled," Commander Kaez continued. "You will operate under deep cover into Sigma Country, and your actions will determine the success or failure of this mission. Lives depend on your performance."

As he spoke, it was clear that the responsibility we carried was immense. The weight of the kingdom's expectations pressed upon us. In the following days, our training intensified, focusing on espionage techniques, covert operations, and mastering the skills necessary to blend seamlessly into the enemy's territory.

A week later, we were given a well-deserved three-day break. While some members of the Alpha Special Army chose to remain in the barracks, others ventured out to the countryside or the city for a brief respite. I, however, headed to the city to rendezvous with Sarin and Judy. During our meeting, we delved into the intricacies of the impending events and other relevant matters.

"Hello, everyone. It's been quite a while since we last departed," I greeted them as I entered the room, which was tucked away in a secret location.

"I was expecting you to ditch that disguise," Sarin remarked, giving me a knowing look.

"Ah, it's convenient to maintain this identity for the time being," I replied with a smile. "So, how are things on your end?"

Sarin gestured for us to sit down. "Judy and I have been investigating the information we gathered. There seem to be some troubling developments within the Alpha Kingdom. Their plans appear more ambitious and dangerous than we initially thought."

"What have you found?" I inquired, my interest piqued.

Sarin leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "The Alpha Kingdom has been intensively developing advanced technology, especially in the field of robotics and AI. They are constructing an army of highly advanced combat robots."

Judy added, "These robots are designed to be nearly indestructible, capable of carrying out military operations with incredible precision. The human soldiers, like us, are supposed to lead these robotic forces during critical missions."

My brows furrowed as I tried to grasp the implications. "So, they're planning to use these robots as the primary force while we merely guide them?"

Sarin nodded. "It's clear that they're moving toward a future where the Alpha Army is composed of human commanders and AI-driven machines. It raises concerns about the role of human soldiers in this scenario."

Judy continued, "We've also discovered that these robots are equipped with advanced neural interfaces, allowing for direct human control if necessary. They claim it's to enhance efficiency, but it's a little too convenient."

I took a deep breath, realizing the gravity of the situation. "So, they're basically making us obsolete, and we're here helping them do it."

Sarin nodded solemnly. "Our mission has to evolve. We need to uncover the full extent of their plans and figure out how to counteract them. This isn't just about revealing the truth; it's about preserving the role of human soldiers in the Alpha Army."

"Hey, Hulaif! What did you find at the military department?" Judy asked.

"I uncovered that the Alpha Kingdom is heavily investing in the development of advanced combat suits and weaponry," I began. "These suits are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, granting soldiers enhanced physical capabilities and integrating seamlessly with their unique talents."

Sarin added, "Additionally, they're employing cutting-edge AI systems to assist in tactical decision-making and combat operations. It seems like they're aiming for a seamless fusion of human and machine capabilities."

Judy's expression darkened. "So, they're not just building an army of robots. They're also augmenting the abilities of human soldiers, making them more like machines themselves."

"Exactly," I said, nodding. "It's becoming increasingly apparent that the Alpha Kingdom is pushing for a future where human soldiers are essentially indistinguishable from the advanced technology they utilize. This raises significant ethical and existential questions about the nature of warfare and the role of humanity within it."

Sarin sighed. "Our task is more complex than we initially thought. We not only have to uncover the truth behind their plans but also consider the broader implications for the future of warfare and the role of human soldiers in this new era."

"Also, I would like to tell you that I need to follow their suicide mission. It seems like they want to attack Sigma Country around next week using the Alpha Special Army." I said.

Sarin's eyes widened in alarm. "A suicide mission? Hulaif, you can't seriously be considering that! It's far too dangerous."

Judy chimed in, her voice laced with concern. "It's one thing to gather information and expose the truth, but this... it's too risky."

I nodded, understanding their apprehension. "I know it's a dangerous path, but it might be our best opportunity to gain the information we need. The Alpha Special Army seems to be highly involved in this, and if we want to uncover their full plan, we might have to take the risk."

Sarin sighed, clearly worried. "Just promise us that you'll be careful. And if things get too dangerous, you'll retreat."

"I promise, Sarin. My safety will be a priority, but I also have a duty to unveil their scheme. We'll be in constant communication, and if things go south, I won't hesitate to withdraw. Plus, I've got a contingency plan in place," I assured them.

"You mean the girl whose appearance you've adopted?" Sarin clarified.

"Exactly," I confirmed.

Judy chimed in, "Then, we'll be here, working from the shadows to back you up. Our priority is to uncover this scheme and ensure the safety of as many people as possible."

"Absolutely. If anything goes wrong, just give me a heads up. I'll make my way here as fast as I can," I reassured them.

After bidding them farewell, I made my way back to the barracks, my mind consumed by the weight of the impending mission. I needed to prepare for the days ahead, both physically and mentally.

The day of the mission arrived, and our team assembled at the cargo aircraft facilities, fully equipped in our advanced combat gear. The air was charged with a mix of tension and determination as we awaited the final briefing from Commander Kaez.

The commander's voice cut through the restless anticipation as he outlined the mission's specifics. "Today, you embark on a mission of critical importance to our kingdom. The information you gather will shape our nation's future. You have been chosen for your unique abilities and unwavering commitment to the cause."

As he spoke, we were reminded of the magnitude of the task at hand. The success of this mission could mean the difference between safety and peril for our homeland. The gravity of our responsibility weighed heavily on each of us.

Commander Kaez continued, "Your mission is to infiltrate the enemy's territory and gather intelligence on their military capabilities, strategic plans, and any potential threats to our kingdom. Discretion is paramount. You must operate in the shadows, avoiding detection at all costs."

He stressed the need for our team to act as one cohesive unit. "You are not alone out there. Trust in your training and trust in each other. You have undergone rigorous preparation for this day, and I have every confidence that you will succeed."

With those final words, Commander Kaez stepped back from the cargo, and we were left to prepare for the imminent departure. The aircraft engines roared to life, and we knew that our fate hung in the balance. As the cargo doors closed and we felt the aircraft lift off the ground, a mix of determination, anxiety, and unwavering loyalty to our kingdom propelled us forward.

As the aircraft soared through the skies, the gravity of our situation settled over us like a heavy shroud. The mission ahead was rife with peril, yet we remained resolute in our determination to fulfill our duty.

Inside the dimly lit cargo hold, we made final preparations, checking and rechecking our gear, going over the mission details one last time. The tension in the air was palpable, each of us immersed in our own thoughts, bracing ourselves for what lay ahead.

As the minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity, the aircraft's engines hummed steadily, the rhythmic thrum serving as a constant reminder of the perilous journey unfolding beneath us.

Glancing at my comrades, I could see the steely determination etched on their faces, the same resolve mirrored in my own gaze. We were a team bound by a shared purpose, committed to seeing this mission through to its conclusion, no matter the challenges we might face.

Suddenly, the cargo hold became a pandemonium of noise and confusion as the enemy's missiles struck, their violent explosions jolting the aircraft with brutal force. Smoke and flames billowed outside the cargo bay doors, while the plane shuddered and groaned under the assault. Alarms blared, their shrill wails adding to the cacophony.

Through the chaos, Commander Kaez's voice crackled over the intercom. "Listen up! We're under attack. Prepare for immediate evacuation. Use your combat suits to glide safely to the ground. Go, go, go!"

The urgency in Kaez's voice left no room for hesitation. We hurriedly made our way to the cargo bay doors, struggling to maintain our balance as the aircraft continued to be buffeted by the explosions outside. Each step was a challenge, our advanced combat suits providing some protection against the force of the blasts.

With a hiss, the cargo bay doors swung open, revealing the maelstrom outside. The land was far below, but it was the only option. One by one, we leaped from the stricken aircraft, activating the thrusters built into our suits. The suits responded, stabilizing our descents as we plummeted toward the earth. It was a breathtaking, heart-pounding freefall, a surreal moment suspended in time.

As we descended, hurtling toward the hostile terrain, we scanned the ground below for a suitable landing spot. Adjusting the controls on our combat suits, we ensured our descent was as controlled and silent as possible, striving for stealth to avoid alerting the enemy to our presence. The suits' built-in invisibility function activated, cloaking us from view as we neared the ground.

Despite our efforts to stick together, the chaos of the missile strike had scattered us across the enemy territory. I tried to communicate with the team, but the interference from the attack made it impossible to establish a clear connection. The crackle of static was the only response to my attempts to reach them.

The landscape below was rugged and unforgiving, a blend of rocky outcrops, dense vegetation, and sprawling enemy installations. My suit's sensors worked overtime to map out the surroundings, highlighting potential threats and safe routes. It was a race against time to regroup with my team and resume our mission, but first, I needed to find a secure vantage point to assess our situation and plan our next move.

The mission had taken an unexpected turn, but we were determined to adapt and persevere, ensuring that the enemy's attack wouldn't deter us from our objective.
