Chapter 4 - Chapter 3- The riddle

As I opened my eyes, I was back in that room again… The dark… Cold… room… why do I hate it so much, but I find it so comforting? I guess people can just get use to things. How was I so use to this by now that it feels safe even though I know it's not… It is painful… Full of hatred… Id stand up and look around, seeing the light as well as the creatures luminous and unsettling red eyes staring back at me. Why was I able to remember it all when I am here but not after this oddly lucid dream? The mysterious cuts and bruises… They are all from in here I know that… But once I escape back into reality, back into the "real" world, it is all forgotten. I would shake my head as I approach the light and the creature I knew would attack as soon as I got close, my thoughts echoing through my head repeatedly.

One thought, just one. The creature hissed as I drew closer, not really caring much if it attacked this time. It lunged forward and quickly took me to the ground, its clawed hand at my throat just like the last time. It hissed again, growling in a low tone as it got closer to my face its glowing eyes to bright for comfort as it hissed out the silent words in a calm yet dark and unsettling voice that seemed to echo through the whole dark room. Only the worthy may enter, remember the pain in dead center. You know what I am and what is to come, all must be regained but you still remember none.

It spoke?! After all this time! IT FINALLY SPOKE! Id pull at the clawed hand that was placed loosely around my throat, not enough to cut off air flow but it is just enough to hurt. Mustering up the courage to speak in a slight mumble. "What do you mean?" Its eyes burned brighter as it snarled, bearing its long sharp teeth that shimmered with red in the sinister lighting. Speak up for I cannot hear you. The creatures voice was clearer as it lifted a bit, moving its claws from around my throat. Id try to sit up only to be struck down and held to the ground again, the creatures palm against my forehead as the voice echoed out again. I said speak, not sit.

Id try to talk a bit louder "What do you mean?" The creature hissed again as it repeated itself but saying more as if it was not finished before. Only the worthy may enter, remember the pain in dead center. You know what I am and what is to come, all must be regained but you still remember none. To take the crown, a ruler must be overthrown. A fight at dusk, they become a hollow husk. For when the night is done, the new ruler will rise in the light of the blue sun. What was that supposed to mean? Did he mean "blue sun" as in my flames? No that couldn't be right… I tried to speak again but before I could I jolted awake to see the other contestants from the dorm staring up at my bunk seemingly confused as the memories all started to fade once again.
