Chapter 11 - What now?

David Snyman's heart skipped a bit. /She had a memory? Will she want to leave me now that she's starting to remember?/ Ever since he met her he couldn't believe his luck in meeting her. She was a goddess, beautiful out of this world, and that made him insecure thinking that somehow one day soon when she regains her memory she will realise she's too good for him and would want to go back to her own life. Yes, he's handsome too but he's a poor man who lives off helping others farm, he couldn't even raise enough money to buy a farm himself. So that didn't do good on his confidence.

He cleared his throat trying to get the thoughts out of his head, right he had to make sure she's ohk and find out how much she has remembered. Bailey didn't notice his momentary uneasiness as she was too caught up trying to recollect her feelings. She tried getting up but he held her down and told her to relax. He got her water to drink and carefully helped to drink, "How are you feeling, sweetness?" he asked her carefully.

"I'm fine" she paused to look at him in the eyes, she wasn't sure whether to tell him about the memory as it was too incomplete for her to even understand it. "So what was the memory, sweet?" his voice cut off her contemplative thoughts. "I saw someone saying I was too injured to go anywhere and she injected me with something on my neck" she breathed out trying to sound as clear as possible. The feelings of that memory were as raw as if it had happened that very afternoon. David gave her a comforting hug and asked slowly "That's all?" he didn't wanna put pressure on her but he needed to know how much she had remembered.

He inwardly breathed a sigh of relief when she said that's all she remembered, and silently made a prayer she doesn't remember more. He had fallen in too deep for her and he couldn't imagine her leaving him. Although she didn't have her memory, she had always been a delight. Funny, witty and kind. He loved every expression on her face and every gesture she made each time they'd talk. However, her eyes remained lifeless and hopeless, but that didn't bother him cause she always managed to remain upbeat and hide her loneliness from him.

David boiled bathing water for her and told her to go bath. Bailey felt overwhelmed again by his kindness and silently kept her emotions to herself. She was aware that he was loved her, and she didn't want to break his heart as she knew that somehow there was a bigger world out there where she belonged. But she couldn't just leave him because gratitude binded her here. She felt if she just upped and left, she would be doing injustice to his kindness and care. And he did save her life so she felt more indebted to him. She calmly went to take a long bath, only getting out of the water when it was cold. She took her time dressing her nightdress and pulling her hair together, ready for sleep.

When she got out of the bathroom to say goodnight to David, she was shocked to enter into a dimly lit dining area with candles and roses everywhere. David had set a perfect mood for romance and she breathed out "No!"
