The city lights switched on but the danger didn't dissipate, rather it made it more dangerous as sounds machines switching on masked the sound of the two groups of black clothed men maneuvering about looking for a gap to kill their opponents as soon as given the go ahead.
The stream of black cars on the lonely road suddenly came to a halt, the drivers couldn't do anything to switch on the engines nor unlock the doors. Silence ensued, only the sound of a clock could be heard. The hearts of men in the cars caught in their throats at the realization of what the clock represented, their efforts of fiddling around the door knobs trying to escape went in vain as they were a second too late. The heat in their bodies came too instantly and they felt immense pressure from inside out as their bodies shattered and collided together because of the explosion coming from underneath the cars, catching fire as sparks flew around mixing with the gas. Boom! A thunderous sound shattered the silence and a big flame lit up the road one after the other. They didn't even have enough time to scream or cry. Everything happened as quickly as drawing a breathe which they didn't have the privilege of taking.
Indeed, the sun didn't rise for some people.
Only one car was left behind untouched, the car in the middle. The car carrying Clifton 'Claw' Goliath. Before he could breathe a sigh of relief that he hadn't died before seeing his beloved, his car monitor popped up with the menacing face of Marcellus King. Claws quickly rearranged his face to nonchalance and gave Marcel a side grin as he chuckled slightly.
"You have killed thirty percent of my most trusted men, you will pay for this" Claw calmly said. Marcel didn't entertain any unnecessary conversations and straightforwardly said "I will give you 'till sunrise to return to me my wife, or you will be uprooted" then immediately cut off the call without for a reply.
Marcellus King swooped off everything on the desk to the floor as soon as he cut the connection. This was the first time since his fiancé's, Bailey Harper, disappearance he'd lost his cool. He'd had a whole plan in motion and it failed. Now it was time for plan B.
He had set the appointment with Claw far away from Claw's territory so that he could search every facility he owns. But after a wholenight spree of searching, he still haven't found her. But that didn't mean he'll suddenly believe she wasn't with Claw, he had it on good authority that he was with Claw. He shouldn't have underestimated Claw. Now it was going to take him a bit longer to get his wife back. He roared again with frustration and his assistant that was coming to give a report halted in his steps for fear. Their boss had always been calm and collected no matter what situation they faced, this was the first time they'd seen him loose his cool. He must really love his fiance, the subordinate thought trying to gather enough courage to go on.
Marcel turned and gestured for his assistant to come in and report. The assistant bravely but unsurely started "Plan B in motion, sir. All personnel in place. According to a captured prisoner, we've gathered that Claw has a hidden island which seems to be where he's keeping Madam, plan B will reveal further details in progress" John Tin said the report as fast as he could, leaving out any unnecessary information and cutting straight to the main points.
Marcel gestured for him to leave after the report then he stood against the floor to ceiling window watching the night lights of the city as lighting colored the sky. "Where are you my love, I'm dying here without you. I feel like my heart is being ripped apart with every second of you gone" his eyes rimmed with tears that didn't fall. He breathed heavily as he tried to gain control of his emotions. He couldn't, shouldn't, fall apart now. Not when she needed him the most.
