Chapter 8 - sadako

Just like that several years went by. I'm almost 15 now, I've become a bit taller and my body has gone through a lot of changes. Most of those changes are a complete nuisance for me though.

I've been spending most of my days running errands for the Whitposts. Such as today I was in town to retrieve some sugar. Actually, this was all a part of my own selfish request to Rafleen. I wanted to have a celebration with Poe and eat a whole batch and a half of banana nut muffins. What we're celebrating you might ask?

My 15th birthday is coming up, each year that passes I've found that the only thing really changing is myself.

I have the power to move things with my mind it seems. I sit in my room practicing on my own time, I was attempting to move a deck of cards from the doorway to me.

Sometimes it's like my power is barely strong enough to budge the box, sometimes my power is too strong.

The box will end up getting crushed and flying into the wall behind me.

I don't understand this weird ability or how to fully control it…

Anyways, so there I was standing under the shade in town. It was sweltering hot and my vision was going a bit blurry.

I could hear someone laughing in the distance followed by hushed voices.

I approached the subjects of such hilarity, though I wasn't amused.

It's because the thing they were laughing at was me.

It was the two daughters of the Wooly family that owns a local shop in town. I've been a target to them ever since I helped their parents.

You see, a few years back the Wooly family shop was in a bind.

They didn't have the labor to help at the shop, so I decided to lend a hand. Come to find out, they decided to leave their entire wealth to me in their will.

They literally cut their own kids out of their will because they felt their kids were ungrateful.

And so now I'm here dealing with the consequences of this conundrum.

The older one's name is Grace. She looks like she's staring daggers into me. Her sister is just looking away, flickering her eyes off into the delicate background without a care in the world.

They have a few guys around them that seem to have some screws loose as well.

This is just great.

"Oh hey there Sada, we were just talking about you!"

Grace Wooly is the type of person that I find most annoying. She talks to me like I'm only an inch tall or something.

"Yeah? Well don't."

"Hey now don't be like that."

"Be like what?"

"That! You always look like a sourpuss! And your gross pet lizard is even worse!"

Are these chumps for real? A bunch of kids my age acting like prehistoric mindless drones or something.

I picked up the sugar, paid for it and made a B-line straight back to the Whitposts.

I'd rather it if the Wooly's never tried to help me back.

I mean, leaving a stranger so much is crazy. Their kids are really the worst though…

…By the way, that ended up being the last day of my life as a human.
