Bryson's POV
I stared down at Summer as she sleeps. No one knew that she was with me and I knew Ash would be here any minute because I still had his phone in my possession. He was over yesterday and left it behind, I'm kind of happy he did.
I was pissed that he had her number and didn't bother telling me anything. There were no messages between them so they must have talked in person. I was scared to think about what, did he know about her? Did she know about me? I hope not.
I slide out of the bed as slowly as I can so I don't wake her. She stirs a little bit but goes back to sleep. Sighing, I grab my shirt and Asher's phone and head towards the front door.
I walk a couple of doors down and knock loudly to be sure he's up.
"Hey!" Ash exclaims as he opens the door. I waste no time stepping in, pushing him slightly out of my way. "Dude, what the hell?"
"We need to talk." I state, glaring.
"About what?" He asks looking anywhere but me.
"You had contact with Summer and didn't tell me!?" I swiftly pull his phone out and hand it harshly to him.
"Well, I, I." He stumbles without words to explain himself.
"She's in my room right now." I glare and he shifts his weight.
"I'm sorry, okay? I didn't know what to say. I was going to bring it up." He quickly explains but I'm not having any of it.
"When, Ash? When were you going to bring that up? It's been over a week!" I yell getting frustrated. "She called you last night."
"What for?" He finally meets my eyes as I pique his interest.
The door bursts open before I tell him last night's antics with Reese followed by a tired Ryland.
"What's with all the yelling? I can hear you in my room!." Reese points between me and Asher as Rylan nods along.
"This is between me and him." I say pointing at Ash. "Stay out of it."
"Summer is in his room!" Ash says loudly surprising all of us. My blood boils as the attention goes on me. Everyone stares expecting me to say something but I just stare at the wall.
"What is it talking about? Is this true?" Reese busts out. I look at him helplessly. This was a very awkward and weird situation, I didn't want to get into the details of her business in case she didn't want me to.
"She's asleep right now." I say shrugging, I couldn't figure out anything to say. I was terrible at lying and I didn't want to start that right now.
"Probably not anymore with your yelling." Ryland cackles back at me.
"Shut it." I snarl at him. "I'm not telling you guys any of her business." Ash looks away as soon as I say that and I can't help but wonder why.
"If you won't tell us, I'll go ask her." Ryland turns towards the door. I grab his shoulder to stop him.
"Leave her alone, she had a long night." I give him a pointed look.
"Fine, but I'm asking as soon as you let us see her." He crosses his eyes at me before huffing and heading back to his room.
Ash was still wary of me, keeping his distance to walk around to sit on the couch. This whole situation was a mess. Natalie and I were pretty much a thing and now Summer is back, I was torn from these circumstances. I knew they were all thinking about it, who I'll stay with. I wanted Summer, I always have.
"How are you other than this stuff?" Reese asks knowing all too well I was not okay.
"I'm fine, it's getting better." I shrug. I wasn't though, my reality shifted when I didn't want it to and nothing seemed to help. Beckman was changing my doses in hopes we could find the right combination but that always seemed to start another issue like insomnia or major depression. I couldn't get a break.
I hadn't told him about Summer yet, the real one. I was hoping for proof of me not being insane this time, but I didn't want her knowing that side of me. I am different than I was three years back and I'm afraid she won't love me anymore.
Reese sighs at me and nods his head before leaving as well. I give one last glance at Ash before following. I'm not as mad as I was before. More than anything, I just needed to vent my frustration. He was just a good excuse to do so.
I retrace my steps back to my door and pause before entering. When I unlock the door, I hear something fall to the ground and I shut the door behind me. Summer walks out of the bedroom and smiles lightly at me. Her cheeks were a soft shade of pink and she was biting her lip. All I wanted to do at this moment was kiss her.
