"Miss, the car's ready," Merry said with a straight face. Today was the day where Sharmaine could finally go home. A few weeks had already passed as she stayed at the private hospital of her mom. To be completely honest, her waking up after six months of slumber took a toll on her body, and the sudden realization that she lost almost all of her memories caught her off-guard.
Well, she hadn't lost all of her memories completely. The doctor said that it'll take time for her to regain all, but she knew herself that she could only recall were mere blurs of her past. She can't exactly use the help of her mother as Sharmaine knew that she won't explain the situation in an objective manner.
The car stopped at a grand gate with intricate details. Still, it was obvious since her mom owned a company worth billions of cash. They all paced the stone pathways, with her mom leading the way, that lead to a mansion as big as a castle. It had a nice and calming color palette as well as an abundance of well-taken plants.
A woman stood before them, welcoming them into the house. She wore a nice black and white uniform, and she looked relatively old. The inside of the mansion was just as grand as the front yard. It had a marble floor with brown walls and big beautiful arches; the windows were stained panes; chandeliers hung on the ceiling and it was strangely sparkling in Sharmaine's eyes.
As they all made their way to—who knows where—Sharmaine noticed a big family portrait that hung on a massive wall between two staircases. It was probably Sharmaine in the middle and her mom and dad on both sides. Sadly, she could not recall anything about her family.
Eventually, Iris lead both her and Merry to a big luxurious room. "This is your room," she said, "If there is anything bothering you in here, be free to tell me."
Sharmaine nodded as Iris left, leaving both Merry and Sharmaine behind. Sharmaine scanned the place and thought that it was quite a decent room for someone who earns millions a day. To be frank, it was quite simple as the room had a monochromatic theme. Oddly enough, she felt that the place looked a bit too familiar.
"Are you not satisfied with anything, miss?" Merry asked. She seemed very pleased with the place, so Sharmaine figure that simple is definitely the way to go. She shook her head as she sat on the bed.
"Don't you think this room is too big for us?" It was true. Their room was the same size as a large apartment, so it was incredibly spacious. There was one huge bed in the middle with two closets and two bathrooms. There was a sofa slightly in the middle with a coffee table and a big TV screen. Quite decent.
Sharmaine stared at Merry, which she noticed, for a good minute.
"Would you like something, miss?"
Sharmaine shook her head. She paused for a moment before saying, "Merry, would you mind if I asked you a personal question?"
