Merry paused for a brief. "What is your question, miss?"
"Have we met before?"
The tension in the air built up as silence manifested. Sharmaine stared at Merry's troubled face. "Merry?"
For a second, Merry snapped out of her zone. "Ah, I'm not sure, but we might've met somewhere in the past."
It wasn't a clear answer, but Sharmaine accepted it. Slowly, her belongings were brought to her room, mainly by the other maids and Merry. The sun was scorching hot outside, so she could still feel the heat producing in her room; she wanted to take a cold shower.
The bathroom was nice, it was big and had marbled floor and smooth shiny tiles. There was a shower, a tub, and even a jacuzzi! As Sharmaine stripped naked, she noticed a scar on her left arm, in addition, there were plenty on her right arm as well, though not as bad as the left arm. I would have probably been an injury from the car crash, so she did not mind it that much.
She showered for a bit, and soaking herself in warm water, Sharmaine's body finally relaxed. The last few days was quite hectic than what she had expected. Maybe if she woke up with all her memories, her reaction would be much different. Suddenly, the fact that she had a miscarriage came to mind.
"Who was the father?" she murmured. Frankly, she was quite disappointed as she found it quite fascinating to have another human inside of her, alas that was not the case. Since she was not brought to a public nor private hospital, as she was brought to a personal quarter, the father of that child might never know what happened.
It seemed unfair, but then again, her mother might have a reason for calling him a r*pist. She wasn't even pure as her virginity was tainted by a man whose existence was a blur.
'I would like to see all of your enemies gathered all in one place.'
She remembered that line from her mother. Since that event was an important launch party, many people of high standing will definitely go there including the people she allegedly hated.
"This is stressful," she muttered yet again. Her head was spinning in the bath, so she decided to stand up. She covered herself before exiting the bathroom. She got dressed in casual wear, and headed outside to find her mom.
As she wandered around the hallways, she noticed that the rooms and door all looked the same. It was like a scene from a horror movie as no one walked there. Thankfully, she found the old woman, who previously greeted them.
"Excuse me, do you know where to find my mom?"
The woman smiled. "You might want to look in her office. Just go straight and turn to the left. There should be a sign there."
"Ah, thank you."
She traversed the hallways yet again and ended up at the front of a big brown door with intricate carvings. She took a deep breath before knocking once, then twice. 'Come in' she heard a voice say, so she turned the knob that revealed a spacious room.
"What do you need?" she asked while writing something.
"I want to know who'll attend the launch party."
Iris stopped moving for a bit and then glanced up to Sharmaine. "Why would you like to know?"
"Because you said my enemies would be there."
