Chapter 52 - Issues (2)

The next day was the same. Sharmaine was still feeling terrible, but not as bad as before. She took her daily medicine to reduce allergies after gobbling up almost all of the food served for breakfast, which they always ate at the office. All Denzel could do was eat slowly and watch her devour everything on the lunch boxes.

After breakfast, which probably half was vomited out by Sharmaine the second she arrived at the office, she went to her desk and took all the necessary documents, which she had previously worked on, to Denzel. He took his fingertips and gently scanned each page, making sure all of the important information was there.

All was well and quiet until the glass door opened and in came a tall familiar woman with a significantly familiar voice.

"Mr. Suarez!" she squealed, sitting on top of Denzel's desk exaggeratedly elegant.

Claire then entered the office holding a pile of heavy papers, which made Sharmaine offer help. Claire nodded, and thanked her until they found themselves in an extremely awkward situation.

Sharmaine leaned in closer to Claire's ears. "Let's drop all of these on my desk and leave immediately." She felt her cheeks burn as she nodded, silently chuckling as they both gently snuck out after and gave a sigh of relief.

"We could've been stuck with endless flirtations there," Sharmaine humored.

Claire giggled and agreed. "Well then, since we have nothing to do," she locked her eyes to Sharmaine, "Shall we go outside for a bit?"

Sharmaine smiled. "Sure. I'll show you around Suarez Corp."

Both of them started pacing the halls as Sharmaine watched Claire's astonished expression when she lead her to the big garden at the back.

"S-Shawn, this is . . . amazing!" Her eyes widened as she wandered her eyes to the beauty of the place.

Sharmaine smirked. "It's pretty cool right?"

Claire nodded as she laid her eyes onto Shawn. The cool breeze was all she could feel as her cheeks flush up. Sharmaine was beaming in her mind.

"Ms. Claire?" Claire locked her eyes to Sharmaine's, examining her as a whole. He was just stunning, she thought. Claire suddenly snapped out of her fantasies the second time her name was called.

"Yes?"

"Let's head inside the maze?" Claire nodded as she watched Sharmaine walk. Sharmaine turned around after noticing that Claire was not by her side. Claire was still where she left her.

A moment of confusion struck her. "Why isn't she moving? Is it because . . ."

She smiled and went back to Claire, offering her arm for her. "Let's go?"

Claire's eyes were still locked to Sharmaine's. She gently grasped Sharmaine's arm as they started to look around. Laughter filled the silent place as Sharmaine knew how to entertain women like Claire. A couple of minutes had passed when they decided to rest on the grass within the hedge maze.

"I did not know you have such great sense of humor, Mr. Shawn." Claire smiled.

Sharmaine smirked, being proud of herself. "I suppose, I have a clown side after all.

The atmosphere was totally comfy and calm. The bosses weren't looking for them either, which was such a great opportunity. Their bodies touched slightly as Claire laid her head on Sharmaine's shoulders; she didn't move an inch, and decided to stay still until she woke up, though she was pretty disappointed herself.

Claire was a great friend, but all secrets do come to an end.
