Chapter 13 - Progressing Ideas (2)

Sharmaine walked through the hallways thinking about Shaine Davis, the new model at Reyes' Formal Attires.

If Shane Davis could somehow chat with her, then maybe she could clear up her name and Sharmaine could finally make progress on her special agenda. It was a great plan until she realized that it would be impossible for her to meet such a famous and scandalous model.

She sighed, but then enlightened herself when she entered the cafeteria. An array of food sat on a shelf protected by glass as their aromas mix together forming a very pleasing fragrance. The place was amazing as it was bright, had lots of space, and very peaceful.

She approached the counter and ordered an Americano and sandwich. Waiting for her orders became boring until the two women, whom she eavesdropped, came in and sat at a table opposite to her.

"Intriguing," she whispered to herself, forming a delicate smile. Her whole body shivered slightly in excitement as she approached the women's table.

"Hi, I am Shawn Mendoza, CEO Mr. Suarez' assistant secretary."

She could immediately tell, because of their expressions, that they were surprised. "Ah, hi Mr. Shawn," one said as they both stood up in respect. The other even whispered that Sharmaine was pretty, delicate and good-looking for a young man.

"Ah, no need for formalities, but I would just like to ask you one thing."

"What is it, Mr. Shawn?"

"About the new model in Reyes' Formal Attires. I would like to ask you if you knew the new model Shaine Davis?"

Their expressions changed a bit, making Sharmaine's efforts to approach them feel useless. To her surprise, one gave her the answer she wanted.

"Well, she was the rumored to be the former secretary of the CEO of that clothing company. Those were all gossips though."

"Well, I've heard she's going to attend some sort of party this week? Maybe coming again with some old man. Seriously, what a b*tch," the other one remarked, making Sharmaine almost burst out of laughter.

People change a lot when they get into a scandal, she thought; she was supposed to ask more questions but the staff called for her attention. She respectfully thanked and bid the women goodbye, and probably the only women in the whole building. She reached for the brown paper bag that contained her order, paid for it and left the cafeteria feeling like she was one step closer to completing her work.

Going back to the office, Denzel noticed the paper bag and waited for Sharmaine to give him food. None arrived on his hands, instead, she went back to her desk and ate.

"You bought food and didn't even give me some?" Denzel blurted out as he smelled the aroma of coffee covering the entire room.

"Why? Do I have to give you food if I have some myself?" Sharmaine teased, munching the sandwich and slurping the coffee loudly.

Denzel watched her gulp down the food. "You didn't even buy me some . . ."

"Well you did not ask. Not my fault." Sharmaine laughed internally. There was a brief pause before Sharmaine spoke again. "By the way, what's that party you said a bit earlier?"

"Nevermind."
