"Ah! I still can't believe I did it," Wen Tu gushed as her face burned red. "I didn't even know I had it in me to do it, ah-ha!" Wen Tu twirled around a bit as she danced with happiness and glee. "And now we're going steady!"
"Ah-ha, yay," A-Kuai replied with a bored tone. His Big Sis has been gushing about her date with Ren Dong for nearly two weeks, and any mention of Wen Tu's first kiss with Ren Dong will spur her into a sickly sweet flurry of emotions. "So," he drawled as he turned to the next page of his book. "What's your next plan of action? You going to tell her?"
"Hah! That easy!" Wen Tu exclaimed. "I'm going to go with the flow! With this beautiful face, how could anything go wrong!" To prove her point, she flashed A-Kuai her 'fashionable' and 'distinct' poses that would woo any man or woman. "See, A-Kuai! With your big sis's natural charm, surely she would want to marry me!"
"You sure about that?"
"Eh?" Wen Tu stopped her parade as she looked at her brother with inquiry in her eyes. "What do you mean?"
A-Kuai flicked her eyes up from his book to his sister's face before returning his attention to his book. "While you two were on a date, a guy tried peeking through an open window to look inside the house." A-Kuai looked up again to see if his sister had caught onto his message. Seeing Wen Tu's clueless expression, he continued. "He was asking if Miss Ren Dong was home. Do you know what that means?"
"That he's a pervert?"
"No."
"A stalker?"
"No."
"A peeping tom?"
"That's the same thing as-" A-Kuai sighed in frustration at his clueless sister. "No, it means that he's interested in Miss Ren Dong!"
"Ah!" Wen Tu gasped in shock. "Someone's after Wifey!" No good, no good, Wen Tu thought. If someone was to grab away Ren Dong's heart before her, then how will she pay back her debt? "Ahh, what am I to do?"
"Well, you c-"
"There's someone who dares steal Wifey from me?" Wen Tu muttered to herself with fire in her eyes. "Good, good! I'd like to see them try!"
A-Kuai had a brief flicker of surprise in his eyes at Wen Tu's vigor. He didn't realize that his sister would go this far to repay her debts. "Huh, with that attitude, that young man doesn't stand a chance."
"Right!" Wen Tu nodded in agreement. "New plan! Develope enough feelings between Wifey and me so that no one can get in between us! Not even fate could stop our love!"
"Right," A-Kuai drawled. "I'm glad you're motivated. But what are you going to do about, well, you know."
"About what?" Wen Tu asked with clueless eyes.
"About your gender. Are you going to tell Miss Ren Dong that you're a woman anytime soon?" A-Kuai wasn't sure how long his sister planned on hiding her identity. Sure, he was alright with helping his sister achieve her goals, but as of late, it was getting more challenging to hide Wen Tu's secret as the pair got more intimate. Ren Dong is bound to find out soon.
"Ehm, not yet," Wen Tu mumbled. "I'm not ready to leave if she finds out. I want to spend more time with her for as long as possible."
"But Miss Ren Dong is bound to find out soon," A-Kuai pointed out. "It was already a close call when she said that she wanted to examine your body for injuries when you first met."
"Eh, that's true," Wen Tu mumbled. However, a glint of resolution ignited in her eyes. "No matter! I have to ensure that Wifey doesn't find out before then! Easy!"
"Hah, of course, you think this is easy," A-Kuai muttered. Oh well, what was he to do? There was no backing out now. He can only hope that his sister's plan does go as smoothly as she intended.
While A-Kuai and Wen Tu wondered what to do next, Ren Dong also tried to think about her next set of actions.
So far, their current relationship progress was going by rather quickly. However, Ren Dong wasn't one to complain.
She had enjoyed the other's company.
And their brother was cool too.
Carrying a bag of snacks, she made her way home for dinner. Today was a rather long day, as the season grew hotter people tend to catch diseases easier; especially ones carried by mosquitos and ticks. She made her daily rounds around the village to deliver packets of medicine and ensure that the little ones weren't catching any fevers. Thankfully, the day went smoothly without any sign of maladies.
"Hmm, I wonder what Wen Tu will be cooking tonight," Ren Dong mused as she imagined the young man earnestly cooking food. Tonight, she will be the one providing desserts, as one of her patients gifted her some cakes as a gift fro their treatment. Though Ren Dong initially attempted to reject them politely, they insisted, and Ren Dong caved in. She didn't like sweet foods too much, but perhaps the young man and their brother will.
She often wondered what deed did she do in her past life to deserve such a fine man. Not to mention, one that seemed to take a liking to her immediately and was as beautiful as Wen Tu was.
Ren Dong still couldn't believe that all of this was happening. It felt as if she were in a fantastic dream.
And if she was in one, she wasn't sure if she wanted to wake up from it.
"Ha, what's this?" Ren Dong mused as she noticed a trail of flower petals appear on the path. 'Just what could they be planning?' Wanting to see how far this trail went, Ren Dong followed the rose petals towards her home.
As the humble shack came into view, she noticed the young boy by the door. "A-Kuai, what is the meaning of this?"
"Big Bro wanted to do something special, so he and I have been working on this for the last few hours," A-Kuai explained. "He told me to tell you to go inside and that you'll know what to do from there," he said and then opened the door for her to walk through. With a quiet thank you, she stepped through the threshold, and another surprise greeted her.
The flower petals lead up to her bed, which laid a package surrounded by more flowers. Walking over and undoing the strings, it revealed itself to be another dress along with a note.
'I think green looks good on you.'
"Hmm, is that so," Ren Dong smiled as she felt her heart become warm and fuzzy. Putting down the note, Ren Dong held up the dress to get a better look at it. Unlike the previous dress gifted to her, this one was much more simple with small embellishments on it. However, she preferred this one.
Touching the long light green sleeves of the dress, it was soft to the touch and resembled that of stroking a flower's petal.
Putting on the dress, it fitted her body perfectly and accentuated her figures modestly and elegantly. The long soft sleeve gently flowed with every movement of her arm, and the skirt of the dressed seemed to dance with each movement.
"Tsk, that man," Ren Dong sighed as she looked at her appearance in a small copper mirror. "I keep telling him he doesn't need to do this," as she took in all of the gifts that he had previously given her. Though she enjoyed him spoiling her, she didn't care if he were rich or poor.
She only wanted his love and attention is hers alone, and no one else's.
But until she could find him, she will savor this feeling for now.
"Miss Ren Dong," a knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts. "Have you finished dressing?" A-Kuai asked from the outside.
"Ehm, yes," Ren Dong called back as she quickly fixed her hair into a half-up and half-down style, secured with a simple jade hair stick.
Pushing open, Ren Dong looked at A-Kuai for further instruction. "How do I look?"
He gave her a smile of approval. "You look amazing; I'm sure you'll blow Big Bro away with your looks."
"You think so?" She smiled in response.
"I know so."
