I'm hearing people whispering in an indistinct tone of voices, but I can't hear what they're saying. My breathing is louder, heavier than their whisper. I can also feel and hear my heart beating fast and loud, as if it's trying to rip out of my chest.
I slowly open my eyes and find a bright light shining through my blurry vision. I try to block the light with my hands, but they are weak and numb. Plus, something seemed to holding them down. Seconds later I realized it isn't just my hands, it's my entire body that is numb. Judging by how the surface feels on my back; I'm on a bed with my back pressed on a hard and smooth leather surface facing up. At least I think I am on a bed!
I squint my eyes, to reduce the brightness piercing through my blurry vision. Perhaps I can also shut my eyes to stop the light from hurting them. As tempting as it seems, I still want to find out where I am. So I kept my eyes open, and squinting. After what seemingly a long time, the brightness dimmed a bit, or my eyes adjusted to the bright light. Whichever the case may be, I am thankful! Naturally my vision got better, but it was still blurry, as if I'm underwater, though from what I could sense and feel; I am thankfully not underwater! Plus I'm breathing.
Speaking of my breath! It's less heavy and calmer. My heart rate has gone down. I notice there is an oxygen mask covering my mouth and nose portion of my face. I also found that I can hear more clearly. I focus on the surrounding noises. The beeping noise of a heart monitor, clicking of someone typing or texting, and a conversation between seemingly at least two to three people. As I stare at the light, I noticed two face figures came to my view, one from the left and the other from the right.
I try to focus on the two face figures to see who they are, but the brightness of the light puts a shadow on their face. My vision is less blurry than before, but my vision won't get any better than this.
The face figure on my left kept pointing at different areas of my face and body. I could tell that his or her jaws was moving. Since I'm calm now. I can hear well now, it seems to do faarrrrr better than my vision, but I can't figure out what they are saying. The language that they are speaking seems to be unknown. A language that I've never heard before.
What's more strange is that I can't figure out if the face figure on my left is a male or a female. Its tone, it had a high pitch squealing noise, but it had a soft tone at the same time. While the face figure on my right was nodding, and based on the quick responses that it give to the other, the tone seemed to be of a male.
What sticks out to me even more is that something is different about the shape of their faces I see. I noticed that the face figure on my right had a bulky face with a squarish chin; he seems to have overlong hair, I could see it reach down to its neck and then out of my vision. Though the hair wasn't what got my attention; it was his ears! Or at least I think it's his ears! His ears seemed, to be sticking out from both sides of his head sideways, outward. They were narrow triangular shape, and long. Well, I felt they were longer than mine. On the top corner of his ears are sharp and pointy.
As for the face figure on my left. It has a slimmer built shape with a slim round chin. It's ears?... I couldn't see them. Nothing is out of the ordinary, except... its hair. It seems to float? All I can tell is that something was dancing sideways and waving like a seaweed underwater. At the same time making wave figures from its roots to its top, on top of the face figure's head. I found those things odd and rather interesting, but not disturbing. What I found disturbing is that I can't recall anything from the past! Nothing! My mind is like a blank slate! I drastically have a feeling that I'm not one of them, I'm something else!
What am I? Who am I? it was all blank. The more important question is that how did I end up in this situation? I suddenly felt unconformable, like a heavy stir in my stomach. Why do I feel this way? Was it my survival instinct kicking in? When I can't recall anything and I don't know what's going on with these strangers; It felt scary! I tried to move my hands and body again, but I still felt numb, weak and heavy.
I tried to tilt my head and look around even though I was weak. Then suddenly I feel something gently touching and patting my left shoulder. And I see the face figure on my left lean closer towards me. As it got closer, I could see its face more clearly. The skin of the face figure, is red. Crimson red, glimmering in the light. The floating hair is bright neon orange. Its eyes are wide and big. I felt I never seen eyes so big in my life! They almost cover its entire face, two giant oval shape eyes. They are dark blue with white glimmers, as if I was looking at a late evening sky with full of stars. Over all, I found the face figure more unique rather than scary.
Then I tilt more toward that face figure. As I inspected and got a glimpse of its neck, the word 'feminine' stick out to me. The texture and how it shaped her body was more like of a female. Hopefully! My guess is correct, for I am not fully sure. She removed the white sheet that was covering her bottom portion of her face. She didn't particularly had a nose, the area where the nose is suppose to be only rise a bit, and has two small holes close to each other. Her mouth is small but I can tell she had a soft smile, letting me know that they are not hostile. She leaned to my ear, and to my surprise, she speaks English! Wait, what's English? Anyway, she said; "Worry not, you are safe, we mean no harm."
Her accent is thick and I can tell English is not her native language, but still understandable. I am still surprised. She continues speaking; "now I will let your hand and legs free, but please no moving. You are badly hurt, however you are out of threat. When you were found, you were dead almost, very bad condition."
How was I injured? Is that why I can't remember anything? Why don't I feel hurt?
It seems my expression is readable, for she said; "you must have many questions. We have made your body numb against pain and have attended your wounds, however you must rest, for you are far from recovery. I will answer later your question, but for now, sleep." She had a calm but a blank expression. She kept her soft smile though, only this time she closes her eyes "I will put you back to sleep." Then she slowly opens her eyes, watching me fall asleep.
I tried to speak and say wait, but I am too weak to speak, and my voice isn't coming out. Soon I felt my body and eyes became heavier and urging me to sleep. After a moment of resistance, I couldn't help but to close my eyes. As I was losing consciousness, I heard her say; "rest easy and recover well, for the journey ahead will be hard. Rest easy and recover well, for the sake of your kind, and ours."
