Laying down, I feel like passing out. Probably from blood loss..... I've made a lot of mistakes....
First was how I decided to start killing treants because of greed.... They got quite pissed and reasonably so. They were not initially hostile but, my desire for experience ruled over me, resulting in a massacre.
Second was that I lost caution after I thought they were easy pickings, splitting up to take down a couple treants. I did notice something wrong but, I was too late from stopping Kess from killing another one.
Third, I did not use my skills to my advantage, I have the stealth skill and so does Set. We could have gotten away with taking one down at a time slowly but, again, I was greedy.
Fourth, I did not have a couple of plans in case something bad happened. I figured I could rush back to the cave and be fine. However, that option was blocked off so we had to leave it up to fate and rush out of the crowd of treants. I ended up losing a lot of blood because of that as I got torn up.... If it wasn't for Set blocking a lot of those attacks I would be dead.
Lastly, was the fight with shorty... I didn't know if Set could cut through its roots that held it to the cliff face so I had to gamble. Luckily she was able to do so but, if she hadn't been able to cut them..... I also probably should have used Poison Lance instead of Poison Pool.... It did scare off the rest of the treants though....
So lots of mistakes have been made. I should get moving. I can't stay out in the open like this. There may be flying monsters especially considering the nests I can see on some of the rocks up here. Hmmmm.... 'Kess can you have your spiderlings dig a hole?'
"Schreee....."Kess
She gets the spiderlings started. There are only 7 of them left but, they still work quickly making a large hole that can fit all of us. I have Kess block the entrance with a couple spikes. This is still dangerous as I dont know if there are subterranean monsters but, I doubt they would live in a cliff.
My choice seems to be correct. Plenty of humanoid bird creatures swarm the cliff moments after the hole is done. Harpies. The ones I see have wings for arms, bird legs, and their entire body except their head is covered in feathers. They know I'm here as they claw at the spikes, but can only stare and screech at me. I have Kess put a few more spikes in and I begin my recovery.....
-half a day later-
I got a much need rest. I haven't slept at all since I came to this world. 'Kess.... Set.... why are you two hovering?'
"Schreeee~" Kess
"Sheeee!!" Set
After shaking the two off I checked my status and I have full Hp and Mp. Weird how Hp regenerates so quickly. Could be do to me losing most of it through blood loss though. Now what?.....
I sit and brainstorm about the future. Adventuring is not the most suitable job. With the world being full of unknowns, building up strength is the safest thing I can do. Setting up a base would the best thing I can do. I can have the spiderlings go out and aquire experience while I continue building up strength here. There is a lot to consider with building a base.
This cliff is a suitable enough place but, I am worried about the harpies on top. It's also unknown if there are any subterranean creatures. I plan to have the spiderlings dig out tunnels as that is the safest and easiest way but, it could still lead to collapses.
The harpies.... I doubt their claws could cut through the spiderlings but, certain birds pick up prey and drop them to their death. I could just have them go out at night to hunt. (It seems there is still day-night cycles even underground).... They are more suitable for night anyways.
The issue of construction is the hardest to solve. Manpower is the easiest sitaution as Kess can summon more spiderlings. The cliff itself is the issue. It is made of rock but it could become unstable if I just have the spiderlings dig out tunnels. What comes to mind is to use wooden columns to hold up under pressure.... Wait.... The arachne queen's nest was constructed entirely out of webs so maybe....
'Kess can you spin webs?' She gives me a weird look but, begins spinning along with her spiderlings. After a few seconds, what I am handed astonishes me. Unlike the webs in the queen's nest, these have a metallic look yet, they also seem to retain the properties of web. I can also change adhesiveness along with rigidity. Maybe I can make armor and weapons out of this later. More importantly, I can have the spiderlings layer the tunnels they dig out with this to stabilize them.
On to base..... No, nest construction.
