Chapter 10 - FAREWELL GRAND PRIZE

"For your 25, 000-dollar question, what is the name of the plant that could turn the one who devoured them into some sort of zombie and control its minds???"

A. Ophiocordyceps

B. Wolf's Bane

C. Pigweed

or

D. Resurrecting Plant

The bald game show master asked Syra. His extremely white teeth made a great contrast with his dark skin as he smiled at her.

Syra at the moment was playing as a contestant at what seemed to be a game show where one would have to answer some questions that were prepared beforehand.

Rewards were also decided prior to the start of the game and every correct answer would allow the player to get a specific amount of money.

"Was there really a plant capable of doing that feat? FOR REAL?!!!"

Syra asked the game master in return.

"Yes, dear, and you have to get the right answer for you to get the price. Or else, you would go home with nothing."

The other party replied.

"Hmm... I really don't have any idea about this one. But I have to bet against the odds... Alright! I'll choose, letter D. Resurrecting Plant."

Syra made her mind and gave her answer to the host with her fingers crossed.

"Is that your final answer??!!!"

The host asked her back to make it official.

"FINAL ANSWER!"

She replied with conviction in her voice. But her hands were almost shaking already at that time.

Actually, Syra was not too sure about it either, but she could only hope for the best.

After all, she somehow had a basis for choosing that answer.

Syra had once watched on Netflix and saw this show, 'THE KINGDOM'. It was actually a Korean drama set in the Joseon Dynasty and it was about a zombie apocalypse.

Throughout the story, it was revealed that the zombie outbreak originated from a plant named, RESURRECTING PLANT. That was the reason why Syra chose that answer, to begin with.

"FOR THE $25,000- QUESTION.... the answer is------"

'TIP! TOP!'

Out of nowhere the pattering of the rain reverberated in the entire studio. The host looked above them to check the ceiling and so Syra did the same as well.

'TOINK!'

A small droplet of water fell straight on Syra's face.

"Err?? Why was it raining inside??? Surely, this studio comes with a roof, right? Was there a leakage on the roof? UGH... Poor maintenance."

As Syra was evaluating the poor maintenance of the studio, she failed to notice that everyone around her including the host was already panicking.

They were running around the stage like headless chickens!

"HEY? What was going on? What was with the panic? It was just a tiny drop of water???"

Syra asked in confusion but no one had the luxury of time to answer her question as they were all busy saving their own ass so Syra ran after the game master instead and asked him directly.

" Wait, sir! How about my answer? Did I get it right???"

Of course, there was money involved here!

She could not just leave it just like that as if it was nothing.

"What are you even thinking?! We all gonna die!!! We have to get out of here. We have to evacuate ourselves as soon as possible. Save yourself!"

"Errr????"

'Aren't they overreacting????'

Syra thought to herself as she watched the exaggerated reaction of everyone around her. But when she looked at her feet, she realized that the water level was swiftly increasing.

The water reached her neck in no time!

"NO! WAIT! What was happening?! I don't know how to swim! Was it not just a drop of water! Ho------- ummmmmmm"

Syra had no idea how things suddenly ended that way. She really did not expect this sudden turn of events.

It supposed to be just normal rain and only a few drops of water were falling from the ceiling and yet in just a minute, the water level already reached that high??!

As she did not know how to swim, Syra eventually found herself drifting further down the deepest part of the water while the water level itself continued to increase and reached the ceiling

SOMETHING WAS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT HERE

"Is this how am I going to die???? Goodbye, my $25,000."

That was all Syra managed to say before she closed her eyes and oblivion took over her.

But the next second, she opened her eyes again and Syra found herself lying on the comfort of her own bed!

The roof above her was dripping water straight to her face because she forgot to fix its holes.

It was raining outside.

"So it was just a dream after all..."

She said as she heaved a sigh of relief.
