Syra and Naomi cleaned the room together but obviously, Syra did most of the cleaning since the cat could not exactly cover as much as his little size.
Nonetheless, Syra enjoyed his company as the cat seemed to have a lot of stories in his bag.
"I was taken in by Master Clyde when I was still a kitten. So he basically raised me. He is my family. How about you?"
Naomi initiated their conversation with that.
"Me? Well, to be honest with you, there is nothing much about me worth telling the story about. When it comes to the concept of family, I think I lost it when I was a kid."
"Oh.. Seemed like you did not have an entertaining life at all. No wonder, you seemed dull."
Without bothering to filter out his words, Naomi gave Syra his honest opinion after hearing her side. Syra on the other hand, almost choked on her own saliva when she heard Naomi's evaluation of her.
'To call me dull straight to my face? You sure are straightforward, way too straightforward actually.'
She thought to herself.
However, knowing that the other party did not exactly mean anything ill when he said that, Syra did not take it to the heart.
"Maybe you are right, maybe I am dull. Sorry about that. It is just that, meeting new people is new to me. Growing up, I hardly make any friends because whenever I got one, my step sisters will see to it that they will destroy my name and reputation to whoever that prospective friend that I have. They will tell them awful things about me which are all nothing but a lie."
It was Syra's first time sharing a good talk with someone else and so before she even knew it, she found herself opening up to Naomi.
"These stepsisters you are referring to, why are they like that?? They truly deserved a beating for doing that to you. Do you want us to get your revenge one of these days??? I can help you give them a scratch or two straight on their faces, you know!"
Naomi offered with his self-righteous tone. He even stopped scrubbing the floor just to looked at Syra with both his paws positioned on his hips.
Seeing this, Syra could not help but feel warm inside.
'Is this how it feels to have someone saying they got your back???'
Syra wondered as she did not expect to find her first friend in the form of a cat.
"Naomi, you know what? Let me just tell you this. I think I found my best friend. I found it to you."
"Silly, don't get too attached. I hate clingy girls."
The other party refuted her words but it was obvious that she also liked what she heard as she curled herself in Syra's lap.
"Kidding aside, where are these stepsisters of yours? My paws are itching. Maybe they could play a good distraction."
"No need Naomi, even if we wanted to get our hands on them, we can't. They are good as gone now."
"Huh??? Why is that?"
Naomi probed when he sensed a different emotion from Syra.
'Should she not feel delighted upon that turn of events?'
He wondered to himself since he believed that getting rid of people like them was one of the nicest things that could ever happen to her.
With that kind of thought running in his mind, the cat could not help but wonder what made Syra despondent.
