Chapter 13 - BREWING TROUBLE

As Syra made her way back to their house, she could not help but notice how the route seemed to become farther than it previously was.

She felt as though she spent a long time walking back home compared to the time that she actually took when she traveled from their house going to the bank.

It might sound weird but that was what she could observe so far.

Perhaps it was due to the mixture of exhaustion and disappointment that had finally taken a toll on her.

But nonetheless, after a while of walking, she still arrived at the front door of their house.

The house itself looked exactly the same just like how it was before. The only difference though was that it was now empty.

There was no Aunt Caroline to boss her around nor any annoying Irene and Aileen sisters to make fun of her.

It was only then that everything that happened had finally sunk in at Syra.

"Is this all I've got now??? Dad... You taught me to be brave and always face life with a smile. But how can I do that if life keeps throwing me shit like this???"

She said to no one in particular and right after that, she made an exasperated sigh.

Syra slowly walked inside the house while wiping the tears away from her face and as soon as she entered the house, she immediately slumped on the floor, feeling dismal and exhausted at the same time.

On top of that, she was also starving!

Yet she was left with nothing.

No food...

No money...

WHAT A DARNED LIFE SHE HAS!

"No... I won't fall defeated just like this. I was still left with a house to shelter me. I can sell some of our stuff here for the time being to make ends meet."

She said with determination.

After wallowing in her misfortune for a while, Syra started to plan her next course of action.

She knew that nothing good would ever happen to her if she would just keep on crying over spilled milk.

She had to pick herself up and keep moving forward or else she would just end up being stuck at rock bottom.

"I AINT NO LOSER!"

Syra said loudly as though she was reciting a mantra.

At the same time, she also made up her mind that she would do whatever it would take her just so she could follow her ran away family to wherever the hell they were hiding.

She would take back everything that was rightfully hers!

----

"AUURRGGG!!! Why are you so heavy.. please cooperate. C'mon??!'

Syra's voice could be heard even from the outside of her house, as she was currently trying her best to move the furniture in the house.

She was trying to separate those that she could sell to those that she would keep for herself. While Syra was busy arranging the furniture, the front door suddenly burst open.

"Caroline! Caroline! You bitch! Show yourself!"

"Err??? Who was that causing such commotion?'

Syra thought to herself as she made her way towards the door.

When she saw who the other party was, she did not know how she should react. The old man standing at their front door was a complete stranger to her.

Syra was just about to speak yet before she could even ask him kindly for his business for coming over, the old man already lashed at her.

"Where is that fvcking Caroline?!!"

"Ahmm... I'm sorry, sir. But I honestly don't know either. Believe me, sir, I also wish I knew where they are hiding."

Syra replied in a bashful manner and it was then that the old man noticed the condition of the house.

"Where did they go without paying me back?!! And who are you??!!!"

The old man rebuked, then he rudely barged in inside the house even without being invited.

He used his eyes to scan the mess left in Syra's living room and disgust soon clouded his face when he finally realized the situation.

"What a filthy piece of scum! They had the audacity to live a life like this, as though they were from some rich household and yet they could not even pay for their debt. And now they even ran away without prior notice. BUNCH OF SCAMMERS!"

The old man was obviously enranged upon knowing that he got duped by that cunny woman as well. After looking around the room and finding nothing noteworthy, the old man shifted his attention at Syra.

"WHO ARE YOU???"

He asked Syra again for the second time around.

"My name is Syra. I am Aunt Caroline's stepdaughter and----"

"UHUH!!!! Then you must pay for them instead!"

Before Syra could even finish introducing herself properly, the old man already cut her off and demanded money from her.

"Pay me this instant, or I will not let you go!"
