Elijah sat staring at his nails, while some stranger scolded him in the street, simply for being a magics user. He made it pretty obvious that he wasn't paying attention, but that didn't seem to matter to the man. Magic seemed to be something everyone in this world hated, except of course, those who used magic. The fifteen year old sighed and glared at the man, his yellow and green eyes narrowing as the man finally shut up.
"Are you even listening to me?" The man with greying hair hissed, not even paying attention to the thirteen year old boy behind him, who had just succeeded in stealing his wallet.
"Oh, yeah sorry..." Elijah smirked. "Something about you having no money." While the man looked around in confusion as he realized his wallet was missing, Elijah slipped into the crowded area of the street.
Elijah reached a dark alleyway and found the boy who had stolen the man's wallet, the boy's messy red hair fell in his face as he handed the wallet to Elijah. Elijah flipped through it and smiled, his eyes bright.
"How much did we get?" The thirteen year old spoke, his eyes round with anticipation. "Enough to buy food for a few days right..?"
"Enough for four days." Elijah stuffed the wallet in his pocket and sighed. What would it take for them to find their families? Elijah hoped they wouldn't have to steal for much longer, but he knew their families would be harder to find, knowing they were powerful magic users in hiding.
"I guess it's better than nothing right..?" The red head smiled weakly, he was already skinny as it was, but when they went days without food, it made everything worse. When there were days where they only got one days worth of food, Elijah would always give up his food so his friend could eat. But he would soon be drained if he kept it up, starving himself in order to preserve the little wind runner.
Elijah nodded and lead the way out of the alley, but quickly ducked back in, when he saw the old man speaking with a police officer. 'Not again..' He thought. It was always tricky, trying to escape the police, especially when they shot at magic users no matter how little the crime they committed. He had taken a magic harming bullet to the side a month ago, which had caused him to be slow when trying to steal food.
He grabbed his red headed friend and dragged him to the back wall of the alleyway. He placed his hand on the wall, and the bricks slowly pushed out to create a ladder for them both to climb. Elijah shoved him up the ladder and hopped up, just as he could hear the shouts and loud footsteps coming up behind them.
Elijah sent a blast of darkness at the cops, blinding them momentarily whilst he got him and his friend out of there, running across the rooftops to find a new place to hide. He could feel the panic rising in his chest as he heard the authorities vehicles from below, he knew they knew where they were. He knew he had to send his young friend into the woods, turn around and defend himself.
"Blue we're cornered!" The thirteen year old cried. "Why are they using so many people to chase us down!?"
"Shut up and run Cat!" He shoved Cat off the roof, and into a bush. "I promise I'll come find you, just lose them in the woods!"
Elijah spun around and pulled his gun on the authorities, who now had him cornered. "Don't underestimate me," he hissed, "I was trained to use this thing!" He took a step back, his eyes locking with the officer nearest him.
The blast from the shot was powerful, placing a magic bullet in the man's chest, causing an explosion and taking out the rest of his team as well. Elijah looked behind himself, relieved that Cat had escaped and jumped down. 'I'd better find him soon, I don't want him getting lost in those woods, or getting caught by a mask's patrol...'
Jasper had run as fast as he possibly could, in order to put as much distance between the danger and himself. The only problem now was finding shelter until Blue could find him, and also hoping he wasn't lost in the "very easy to get lost in" woods. Though it was made pretty obvious that he was worst than lost once he stumbled across a ravine, marking the fact that he was near the Mask base.
Jasper stared down into the ravine, watching a pebble plummet down into the darkness that was the bottom of the ravine. "Shit.." He mumbled, before turning around and eyeing the surrounding area, there was something off about it.
The forest was silent, as if there was nothing there. Which was sign of something deadly being nearby, at least that was what Blue told him. He leapt up into a tree and hid himself in the leaves and branches, narrowing his bright red eyes at the ground beneath him. What would he do if he were caught by whatever dangerous thing that was hiding nearby?
"So how long are we gonna sit in this tree staring at the ground for?" Cat screamed at the top of his lungs and fell out of the tree onto his back, staring upwards at Flail, except Flail wasn't wearing his mask and had a suspicious look on his face, which was very different from the Flail he knew about a year ago. "I guess not much longer."
"Uh oh.." Cat realized he had just gotten himself found by one of the Masks, and now either Blue would have to bail him out, or he would be tormented and forced to do all of those horrible things again for the rest of his life. "Maybe, you could let me go and not tell Malachite or Reaper that I was here..?"
Flail tilted his head, nodded at someone behind Cat and then everything went dark.
