"How about you just hand it over and maybe I won't have my friends beat your ass?" Jaxon hissed, his eyes narrowed at Ion, who was taking steps back.
"F-fuck off!" Ion squared his fists and held a fighting stance. "Or I'll beat your ass!"
Jaxon rolled his eyes and glared at him. "Just hand over the cigarettes and no one gets hurt, alright?" He smirked.
"No!" He growled, Jaxon punched him in the face and gestured for his friends to attack.
He stood back and watched them beat Ion up, one of them grabbed the pack of cigarettes and tossed it to him. "Thanks." He stuffed the pack in his bag and started walking away, once they were all done, Jaxon's friends caught up to him.
"So are we gonna smoke those--" Jaxon punched Jake in the face. "OW!!" Jake shouted, holding his nose which was clearly bleeding.
"I have parents who'll kill me if I don't head home soon," he explained, "so we'll have these tomorrow when we go to the usual hang out." He muttered before heading home.
He got home and hugged his mother, his personality quickly changing to match that of an angelic only child who could do no wrong.
"How was school?" His mother asked, a slightly worried look on her face. "I heard you got a B+ on your last test." She narrowed her eyes. Jaxon had always gotten straight A's and if he ever got anything lower it was looked upon as a fail.
"It's one test mom.." He sighed. "It's not like it was an important subject like math or English..." He placed his backpack down in its cubby and sat on the couch. "It was in art."
"Learning art theory could be useful and you're just gonna throw it away?" She hissed.
"It's not useful for someone like me." He huffed. "I've got a test I have to study for." He got up and headed to his room, grabbing his bag with him.
Jaxon studied all night, his mother hadn't called him down for dinner, so he assumed she was giving him the silent treatment again.
Morning came and Jaxon headed out early, grabbing a couple pieces of toast for breakfast and heading out, bringing the pack of cigarettes along with him.
"There you are oh, fearless leader." An unfamiliar person stood in the group this time, his had short brown hair, blue eyes and wore what every teenage boy wore nowadays.
"Who the hell are you?" Jaxon narrowed his eyes at him. "And why are you at MY hangout?"
"My name is Avery." He crossed his arms. "I was invited by my friend Jake to come along." He smiled.
Jaxon looked at Jake, who quickly ducked his head, obviously scared of getting hurt for inviting Avery there.
"Well I'm in charge here," Jaxon growled, "so don't misbehave." He looked at Avery, who had a smug look on his face.
"There is no way you're I charge." He challenged. "You're even more scrawny than the average ferret!" He had a venomous smile on his face, Jaxon could tell he was challenging him.
"Well then, since you must think you're cut out for a job," Jaxon suggested, "how about I show you why we chose our hangout so close to the highway?" He took a step towards him. "You up for a race?"
"Across the highway?" Avery narrowed his eyes. "That's pretty dangerous." He looked down the hill at the busy road, cars racing past like bullets.
"Are you scared?" Jaxon sneered. He circled around Avery, a satisfied smile on his face.
"I guess we'll find out who's really scared." Avery shouted before sprinting down the hill, towards the highway.
Jaxon took off after him, catching up pretty quickly as Avery reached the fence and got ready to jump it.
Jaxon watched Avery sprint across the highway and charged after him without looking at his surroundings. He had never actually had to do this, because everyone always chickened out, so he had no clue how to time this.
Jaxon heard the panicked sounding of a horn as a truck came forward, he could hear the tires screeching and the shout of a man in the driver's seat.
Everything felt like it was in slow motion, his friends shouts sounded in the distance as the truck came closer. Everything went black as he felt the horrible pain of being crushed under the weight of a vehicle.
"Hello?" He called, his voice echoed through darkness. "Where am I?" He shouted out. Silence was his only reply, he felt alone as he tried to look around, only to see more darkness. "Can anyone hear me!?" He called out, fear began to creep through him as tears welled up in his eyes.
"Don't cry when you are about to become one more powerful spark in this flame.." A voice echoed through the darkness. "You will need to--"
Jaxon gasped awake, his eyes wide and his hair messed up completely. He sat in a hospital bed, a nurse could be heard speaking to an outraged women outside the room. Everything felt off, when he tried to think of why he'd be in a hospital bed, he couldn't find a reason, only darkness in his mind. As he tried to remember, he realized he couldn't remember anything at all, about anything.
The nurse walked in and looked at him, she had a look of confusion on her face. "Mrs. Jane, since when was your son a magics user?" She looked at the vicious looking women standing in the door way.
"He's not one, what the hell is wrong with his eyes?" She glared at Jaxon, who stared at her in confusion, the nurse had referred to him as this woman's son, meaning this must be his mother, though she didn't seem very happy with him. "What did you idiots do to him, I can't have my only child looking like a freak!" She growled.
Jaxon looked away, his hair falling in his face. If this was his mother, he hated her already. She walked over to him and brushed the hair from his face.
"What did you do to your eyes?" She hissed. Her eyes narrowed to slits as she glared at him.
"I don't know.." He sighed and looked away from her.
