"Antap peṇṇai eṉṉiṭam aḻaittu varuvīrkaḷ. Avaḷ piṟantu cila mātaṅkaḷukku mēl illai (You will bring me the girl. She is a newborn no more than a few months old)."
Golden eyes with red pupils bore into white consuming, compelling.
'Itaṟku eṉṉai ēṉ tērvu ceyya vēṇṭum
(Why did I have to be chosen for this)?'
He stepped from the portal, bow in hand.
"Avaḷuṭaiya muṉṉōrkaḷ mītāṉa uṅkaḷ pakti avaḷuṭaiya pātukāppai uṟuti ceyyum (your devotion to her ancestors will ensure her safety)."
Crystal white eyes took in the familiar green surroundings for himself.
A silver haired boy tilted his head at the Vegetation before him. He could feel no life. No mystical wonder that the magic of his realm bore.
This is not home.
He saw trees for miles and when he looked to his right he saw more trees.
He was about to dismiss this place when he saw a path; like a shimmering gold thread, that beckoned him.
'Namatu makkaḷ tūymaiyāṉavarkaḷiṉ caktiyuṭaṉ iṇaikkappaṭṭuḷḷaṉar. Nāṅkaḷ eppōtum nam'muṭaiyataik kaṇṭupiṭippōm
(Our people are connected to the power of the Pure Ones. We will always find our own).' His elder had explained when he handed him a block of metal that was spelled to only open for 'Tūya oṉṟu' (the 'Pure One').
He looked at the block before he looked at the sky with sparkling stars that danced around a bright crescent moon.
Before he could register the action, he moved to follow it.
***One Week Prior: (November, 2076)***
Myriah pursed her lips as she watched Axel guide Tyler and Kain through stances, "I still get tired too easily and I sleep alot."
"Kāyccal nam aṉaivaraiyum vittiyācamāka pātikkiṟatu (the fever effects us all differently)." Mika murmured as Atoli sat on Myriahs left with a giggle, "I slept alot too when Angelo changed me." Myriah looked to Atoli and blinked, "What was it like?" Both girls leaned toward Atoli eagerly awaiting the Vampiress answer. "At first it was blissful." Atoli murmured with a blush. "And then the fever hit. I felt like I was dying." Myriah sighed, "And then everything was different. clearer, brighter, louder." the brown eyed girl murmured in gentle tones. "The thirst was the devil for me. But Axel taught me control." Myriah blinked when Axel appeared Infront of her. "You exaggerate. I berated you most of the time, and I neglected you for the rest of it." Atoli giggled, "And still you're a thorn I cannot lodge from my side." Myriah and Mika shared a glance and Atoli giggled again.
They fell into a content silence as they watched Kain and Tyler spar until Tyler fell to his knees in exhaustion.
"That's enough." Axel commanded, "The full moon approaches. You need to rest more as it draws closer, boy." Tyler shot up for Axel to appear behind him and knock him over with a nudge of his foot. "Your stance is faltering." Axel scolded as he circled the fallen boy. "This is a sign of exhaustion. If you tire your body out too much, you risk the chance of burning out during your phase right now that you're compelled to the moon." Tyler wanted to argue with Axel but his retort was cut off when a heavy shoe fell onto his chest. "I thought you could only burn out during the fever." Myriah murmured.
"Your risk is highest during the fever." Jasmine murmured, as she made her way to the group. Atoli perked up, "Angelos back!" Axel shook his head as he watched his sister in law rush inside to find his brother.
"Any one of us can burnout at any time." Axel sighed, "The less we tend to our bodies when we strain ourselves, the higher our chances are of losing control and thus the higher our chances are of losing ourselves to the magic in our blood."
"This is why you sleep alot, Myriah, because you use impossible amounts of magic daily, youre recovering from your captivity, and you're coming into your own as a newborn."
Myriah pursed her lips in though, 'that does make a lot of sense…' she allowed her mind to wonder to a diagram of the human body as she processed what Axel was saying.
'It's similar to stretching and working muscles; the muscles can really cramp at any time. Especially when forced to rest after heavy activity… the human body containing magic works very similarity, only instead of cramping, the magic can take over and burn one from the inside out…'
***
The group rested in the sitting room after a satisfying lunch made by Atoli and Myriah.
"Let me get this straight: You want me to speak to this old woman who is supposed to be able to help me?" Myriah repeated, skeptically. "What can she help me with that y'all can't?" She looked at Axel who was standing beside her with his arms folded across his chest, metallic eyes narrowed in his vexation.
"You don't think this is a good Idea..." The lavender eyed girl whispered as she held onto Axel's gaze. "I dont." He replied, "But its the only idea we've got." Myriah concluded after sharing his gaze....
"I'm lost though. Why does it have to be this woman?" Tyler asked. "She's the oldest witch alive in this world." Angelo murmured, "she may be able to completely heal you and tell you what you are." Myriah tilted her head, 'What I am?'
"What will knowing what I am do for me? As two ancient vampires don't know I'm guessing I'm the only one of my kind here." Myriah ran a frustrated hand through her hair, "There is no miraculous happy reunion for me out there. Outside of you lot, I am completely alone." Axels hand gently fell onto her shoulder. Myriah looked at him wide eyed as he pulled her into his form. "Kinship or no, you are not alone." he murmured. Tears stung her eyes. "Knowing what you are will help you in the sense that we can get a better handle on how to help you help yourself."
**Present:
Zafrina was a withered woman whose wrinkled angular face was once lovely. There was a tribal like burn that stretched from her left eye to her jawline. Myriah could tell she must have been a beautiful young woman. She could see it as though she were alive at the time: a beautiful maiden who would go to the river to fetch water with a clay bucket on her head. She would wear a sheer, almost see through dress that covered a lithe body.
Axel had warned her that this old woman was vastly powerful, and very dangerous. She was a young maiden who endured the change while man were animalistic creatures that dwelled in caves...
"Vampire. You dare to step into my domain..and with a new born Pure One none the less." Her withered voice rang with authority and it commanded honest obedience. Myriah tilted her head, "I can smell the wolf as well. You lot are the start of a bad joke." The old woman chuckled as her misty brown eyes looked Myriah over, "A living Celestial being... who would have thought?" Myriah stepped back as the old woman advanced on her. She gasped when she felt Axel behind her. Her eyes found his and he offered a thin, reassuring smile. "This grows more amusing with the more I see." Zafrina cackled as she smoked the pipe that rested between her fingers. "Of all people, she seeks you out for comfort, Vampire." The sorceress cackled again and she stepped away from Myriah.
"W-what is a-"
"Tūya oṉṟu.. is what your people were once called."
"Pure one?" Myriah repeated the foregin word in English.
***One week prior:
Axel and Myriah locked gazes, "Your powers are unimaginable. However with a central focus, you will be ideal." Myriah held his metallic gaze that saw straight to her soul. There was no hiding from that gaze. No barrier could keep him from getting what he sought of her.
"Defense will be your best friend in these times, little one." Axel's voice had dropped an octave. His forehead was against hers as he guided her hand along the blade and hilt of a dagger, "Every part of a blade can be a weapon to you." Myriah nodded with a blush on her cheeks. His hands guided hers while he guided her through simple stances. "The most important lesson, Myriah..." Axel's voice whispered in her ear, "Will be to stay focused."
And with that his dagger slammed into the one she was holding.
**Present:
"Why have you all come to me?"
"We need to learn how to help her control her powers..." Angelo murmured, "I suspected she was a pure one but I couldn't not be sure."
"You come with questions of which you know the answer, Vampire. " Zafrina sighed, holding Axels gaze, "You knew what she was the moment you laid eyes on her." Myriah and Axel's eyes locked and Myriah felt the burning in her chest. He watched the raging gold appear in her gentle lavender eyes-
"I-I don't understand-" Myriah felt her knees buckle, she stifled a groan as the burning grew from her chest to her whole upper body. She felt Axel shift closer to her, ready to catch her if she fell.
'Please-Don't...'
Myriah willed the spirit within her to stay put.
She needed to know what the old woman was going to say...She needed to know what she was and where her destiny lay... 'Please...'
Nothing escaped Zafrina's ever observant eyes.
"You know the creation of which you are taught, do you not child?" Myriah nodded as Zafrina's metallic eyes bore into her own. "God created the earth in seven days." Myriah answered, to which Zafrina laughed. The old woman tossed her head back and laughed at which Angalo who was oddly quiet decided to speak: "It was told that billions of years ago after the Big Bang was rumored to have happened, the earth was covered in darkness and toxic fumes." Myriah nodded, indicating that she was paying attention and Angalo offered a small smile as a reward. "In our world, we are taught that dragons, massive and powerful beasts drifted to this planet... and graced it with life. More of their kin joined them and the dinosaurs were created with the evolution that comes with times changing flow..."
*** One week prior:
Mika hopped to where Myriah sat, reading a book while Kain and Jasmine practiced their magic together across from her.
"I heard a story of a sleeping a baby when I was smaller." Myriah tilted her head and Mika decided to continue her story, "There was only a baby left when the Pure Ones disappeared.." Myriah tilted her head, "The baby slept. She never grew. Never woke." Mika shrugged, "They say that that baby is dead by now as she was lost to histories scripts." Myriah hmmed in agreement while her mind drifted to a dream from when she was Alexander's captive: A handsome man with long midnight black hair cradling a baby to his chest. He kissed her forehead and whispered a spell.
"Pātukāppāka amaitiyāka iruṅkaḷ. (Be safe silent one)." Myriah whispered, "Valuvāka iruṅkaḷ, tūymaiyāka iruṅkaḷ. (Be strong and remain pure.)"...~
Myriah blinked and she was in the present, with her companions and the ancient witch staring at her. She was not aware that she had been lost to her thoughts. She didn't know when her dreams took her, nor did she know that she voiced the words that haunted her nightly.
'Pātukāppāka amaitiyāka iruṅkaḷ. Valuvāka iruṅkaḷ, tūymaiyāka iruṅkaḷ. (Be safe silent one. Be strong and remain pure).'
