Shuishui's class began to feel a sense of collective honor and a little pride.
Shuishui was very humble about her achievements. She was her usual self. She neither showed happiness nor disappointment.
Because Shuishui remained quiet, Xu Die started to make a fuss out of it again. "You're pretending again. You must be very happy deep down."
"Hmm? What does my happiness have to do with you?" Shuishui asked back before she continued to read her book.
Xu Die did not know how to respond. Shuishui obviously did not want to talk to her anymore, so she stomped her feet in anger.
Mu Qing was disappointed that Shuishui had been too nice. "Shuishui, you're too kind. People will think that you're easy to bully. Look at that Xu Die. She saw that you did not really retaliate, so she thought that you were simply pretending and tried to provoke you again. She mocked and humiliated you. Why did you answer so calmly? She is such an uncultured person. It makes me so angry."
"We can't act uncultured simply because she is, right?" Shuishui was very open-minded. She had always been very patient. Xu Die quarreled with her and mocked her, and she did not lose anything. On the contrary, it was Xu Die who embarrassed herself. Xu Die wanted Shuishui to respond and feel antagonized. But as Shuishui ignored her, Xu Die simply became uncomfortable that no one had paid attention to her.
"You're always like this!" Mu Qing felt frustrated and didn't have much to say. She knew that Shuishui would always be able to convince her.
Mu Zilin shook his head as he struggled with his thoughts. He knew that Shuishui did not like to lose. The previous Shuishui and the current Shuishui hardly won any fights. He knew that the Shuishui he had known for a long time would have harshly retaliated. He was surprised that the Shuishui he had recently known simply ignored and avoided arguments. He laughed and thought to himself, 'Yes, it's possible she's still the same.'
When classes ended, Shuishui walked straight towards home. Mu Zilin followed her. "I'll walk you home before I go home," he said.
"Why?" Shuishui asked.
"Hasn't your phone recently been stolen? Of course I have to protect you." Mu Zilin placed his hands behind his back and walked ahead of Shuishui.
"Are you sure that you're the one protecting me? Go home. I don't need you to send me home. Besides, if you come with me, you'd have to walk with me towards the end of the office building. There are too many people," Shuishui said as she pushed Mu Zilin away.
Mu Zilin thought for a moment. "Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yes, I'm sure. I'm a hundred percent sure. You can go home directly," Shuishui said as she waved her hand and pushed Mu Zilin's back. He almost fell. He turned around and looked at Shuishui with a horrified expression.
Mu Zilin took a few steps back from her. "******* woman, you're a little too strong. Oh my god. I'm going home."
Shuishui shrugged her shoulders and walked away.
When she arrived home, she called Mu Qing on her phone.
"Mu Qing, I'm home. Tell me if you need anything. I'll cook something first." Shuishui opened her fridge and took out a lettuce, an egg, and some fans.
She pushed her shoulder against the fridge and closed it.
She then started to wash the vegetables.
Mu Qing kept talking because she was on the bus. She didn't want to be bored, so she chatted with Shuishui along the way.
Shuishui put down her phone, leaned it against the wall, and turned on the loudspeaker. She chatted with Mu Qing as she prepared food.
Her doorbell suddenly rang. Shuishui walked to the door and opened it. It was Mu Ziyu. "Are you cooking?" he asked.
Mu Ziyu saw that Shuishui wore an apron.
"Yes, I'm cooking fans," Shuishui said and smiled faintly. "Come in. I am in the middle of a call."
"Okay." Ziyu tried to listen to the voice on the other end of the line. He felt relieved when he realized that it was the voice of a female.
Shuishui got back to her phone. "Mu Qing, I can't talk anymore. I have a guest."
"Okay. I just arrived home," Mu Qing replied.
