"Why are there two groups of people trying to capture you? What do these people want?"
"The burly men were trying to save me. They were supposed to send me back to the Huo family," Gu Ruochu comforted Yang Xi. "As for the other group, they're probably not good people. They tried to kill me."
Yang Xi was confused, and she chuckled, "D*mn! Are you sure that the burly men were here to save you? An Shaosi, are they your people?"
"No. Perhaps these big men are from Interpol." An Shaosi had noticed the tags on their clothes. "Maybe somebody was trying to help Ruochu behind the scenes."
"As long as they were not bad people, that's good enough. An Shaosi, you must interrogate these captured gang members. I'd like to know the person behind Ruochu's kidnapping."
An Shaosi glanced at Yang Xi, who was baring her fangs and brandishing her claws, and said calmly, "What's the rush? We'll find out everything soon enough."
"..."
Yang Xi was not bothered by An Shaosi's attitude. She held Gu Ruochu's hand and got into the car.
"Master An, how should we deal with the criminals?"
"Bring them back with us."
Fortunately, An Shaosi's men had enough room in their cars to transport the captured gang members.
Yang Xi and Gu Ruochu sat in the presidential car. Yang Xi had never thought that she would see the President up close. She was a little nervous and kept nudging Gu Ruochu with her elbow.
Gu Ruochu did not understand why Yang Xi was making such a fuss.
Cheng Xi was seated between the two ladies. Earlier on, he had been scared out of his wits as he hid in the van, but now that Gu Ruochu was by his side, he had finally calmed down.
Nan Yue, on the other hand, was very gentle. After they were comfortable in the car, he took the initiative to chat with them. "You must have been scared out of your wits today. What's your name?"
"I'm fine now."
Gu Ruochu smiled. "My name is Gu Ruochu."
"Your surname is Gu?" Nan Yue was a little surprised. "It's a rare name, but it's also very pleasant to hear. Now that you mention it, I seem to recall that the eldest daughter-in-law in the Huo family is called Gu Ruochu. Is that you?"
"It's me."
"No wonder."
Nan Yue replied with a smile on his face. However, his expression suddenly changed.
"My wife's surname is also Gu."
"The First Lady is very beautiful," Gu Ruochu replied without batting an eyelid. She remembered that she had bumped into the President's wife at the hospital.
Nan Yue continued to smile, but he did not respond. His emotions became complicated, and he did not say anything else for the rest of the journey.
They soon entered the city, and Nan Yue got out of the car after a convoy of special police cars arrived to pick him up. Before he left, he informed Gu Ruochu, "Young lady, you should come and visit the presidential palace. My wife is not much older than you are. You should be able to get along with her."
"All right."
Yang Xi finally relaxed after Nan Yue left. "I didn't expect the President to be so scary. His eyes are very sharp."
"It's better to have minimal contact with such people. Men and women in high positions are not simple-minded."
"That's true," Yang Xi nodded like a chicken pecking at rice.
When they finally arrived at the Huo family home, Mrs. Huo and Nanny Zhang were waiting at the door. The two women almost leaped with joy when they saw Gu Ruochu get out of the car.
Just as they pulled Gu Ruochu and Yang Xi through the door, Mrs. Huo received a call from the hospital.
"Okay. We'll be there soon!"
After hanging up the phone, Mrs. Huo was so happy that she started crying. She was so excited that she could barely speak properly. "Ruochu, Nanchen is awake! Lu Fang just told me that Nanchen woke up. Let's go to the hospital quickly."
